I hate every form of the cliffhangers. In movies, TV shows, books, etc. But the worst is when a cliffhanger is a person, more specifically a killer.

So our "friendly" guy Cliffhanger casually drove up to me while I was standing in front of a map on the streets to find my way, and snatched me away right then and there. We were in a less populated area so unfortunately no-one else was on the streets and the killer had the perfect opportunity. Which he took, of course. So, after half an hour, I was struggling on a hook on a cliff. The view was astonishing, but I would lie if I said I could admire it in my current position. The Cliffhanger Killer only stayed for some photos then left, thinking I was done for. But Oh Boy! As a soul I can't die again even in this visible form so I just hung there, hoping someone would find me somehow.

It was getting really boring, but then suddenly a man with a concerned look on his face rushed to my rescue.

– What are you doing? What happened?

– Oh I was just hanging out here, thinking about life... – the man didn't appreciate the joke so I told him the truth – Two words: Cliffhanger Killer.

He was amazed I lived to tell the tale and offerd me a ride to the hospital, but I kindly refused as they would just freak out.

– Yeah, I'm quite certain I'll be okay. Thanks – I smiled as he walked off reluctantly, then called Sapphire on the new phone he gave me. – Why don't You come for me instead of sending people that you know can't do anything to me? You become more and more pathetic with every try. Why can't you face me? Send me down to Hell, for all I care, but at least come for me yourself! – I hung up the phone before he could say a thing.

It has been a month since we arrived in this city, South Hill. Everything went well for us in the villa we got until Sapphire an I argued. I demanded to know why we were here, but the questions only found deaf ears. We were looking for something or someone, that's all I knew. Then one day I had had enough and confronted him for real. Both of us were shouting and in the end I left. I can't help him if I don't know what we're dealing with. Now I live on my own in the city, in a small apartment an Sapphire sends people to kill me from time to time. He knows humans can't do anything to me so I don't get what he's trying to say.

– Are you still mad at me for not telling you what we were searching? – With a small gush if wind he landed next to me.

– No. I dropped that a week later. Now I'm mad because you're sending all these people at me. Why? – I turned to face him.

His eyes weren't as full of life as when we last met. He has almost completely fallen apart.

– I'm glad you're here – He started walking towards me and with every step he started to look more like his old self, not fallen apart anymore. – Please stay – I took a step back, not believing what I'm seeing.

– So I was just like some blood bank for you? You were feeding off my energy, right?

– I can't exist without you.

– Not even denying... Why me?

– You're not like the others. For some reason you have more energy than a normal soul.

– But angels don't need the energy of souls to be on Earth.

– I'm not a full angel... – I didn't say anything to that, he was finally going to talk about his parents. – My dad was an angel, but my mother was a witch. Both powerful beyond your comprehension. That's why nature had to give me a weakness as I have the combined powers of my parents. My weakness is Earth itself and I can't be here for too long or I'll become human. I brought you with me as a piece of Heaven to elongate my stay as much as possible. I was still getting weaker and weaker every day but it wasn't nearly as drastic as without you. I'm truly sorry I didn't tell you this, but ... – He averted my gaze.

– But what? I'm not letting you go until I know the whole story and what we were looking for. – I folded my arms in front of my chest.

– I'm looking for God.

The sudden information made me shocked. We were after the Lord himself all this time?

– The angels did not want me or anyone looking for Him but I couldn't stand the look of all those souls outside of Heaven. I had to do something. – He made his words stronger by gesturing with his hands.

– That's really nice, but I don't understand why you couldn't tell me all of this before – I knitted my eyebrows. – I would have helped you... – Sapphire fell silent and looked down at the ground. – If you keep secrets from me like this... You only wanted me to follow you so you can use me. I'm not sure whether I should be mad or disappointed so I'll be both. Take me back to Heaven right now. I'm not staying with you any longer.

The angel looked at me with regret and sadness, then slowly shook his head and ran his fingers through his hair. The morning sun sparkled on his skin, giving him a divine glow that was tainted with sorrow because of my request. He spread his beautiful ebony wings and held out his hand for me. Then we flew back Home.

We were standing amongst thousands or even millions of souls in front at the Gates of Heaven. I looked inside, already seeing angels rushing over, then I turned to Sapphire. He was holding my hands and looking at them like he doesn't want to let go.

– I genuinely enjoyed your company, Evie. Yes, at first I had you by my side for your energy, but it  quickly changed. You have a wonderful personality that had a huge impact on my beliefs and how I see the world. I'm sorry it had to go like this. I was in the wrong, I know that. – He squeezed my hands and looked up at me, sparkling tears forming in his eyes. – I'll continue my mission as long as I can. Thank you for coming with me... – He let go of my hands, backed away, and flew down alone.
