Heaven is full. And how do I know that? Because I work there. No, I'm not an angel, I'm just an ordinary soul, that got bored in Paradise.
You see, in Heaven, everything is perfect. You have all your friends and family there, even pets and you can do everything you ever wanted (if it's good of course) without worrying about school, work or life itself. All the souls are happy all the time. And there's the problem. All these good things make Heaven empty for me. I did enjoy being free after the life I had, but I have had enough. The only thing I feel real is the angel that comes once in a while to check on the region I'm in. His name is Sapphire. He told me that he got his name after his sapphire eyes that are well complimented by his black, curly hair, but maybe he just doesn't want to tell me who he really is. Either way, I don't care. He had more feelings other than happiness. Finally I saw someone being anxious, mad, sad or lonely after a long time and that was what made me drawn to him. We became very good friends, and in the end I begged him so much to help me find something to do that he got me a job in Heaven. I mainly did paperwork and such. I also kept track of the number of souls up here, that's how I knew that Heaven is full. You may be wandering how that's possible, and believe me when I say I was just as surprised as you are right now. But this is the truth.
With God being on a really long vacation, angels can't make room for all those new souls at the gates, waiting to get in to where they had always wanted. Sapphire and the others always have a hint of sadness and pity in their eyes nowadays. They feel responsible for this major event and no-one can change their minds about it. Obviously they can't do anything about humans dieing, but they can only see how they failed to keep good track and let Heaven fill up - not like they could have done anything to prevent that.

– Could you send this to Emanadiel, please? It's really important that he gets it. – a young angel said then stormed off into the opposite direction.
– Sure thing, blondie... – I watched the direction he went with a bit of confusion then I stood up and started to walk towards where Emanadiel should be, with the new envelope I had in my hands.
Even though he had an office, he liked spending some time alone in the angels' park, located not too far from the glass building I worked in. The building was a tall skyscraper made out of pure glass, or it seemed like it, towering above all the regions of Heaven. All the angels worked here and most had an office too, but everything being as it is nowadays, meaning utter chaos, the glass wonder was almost empty. I took the elevator to the 10th floor from the 2nd floor that I was on. When I got out, to my surprise, the angel I have been looking for was in his office, looking through some papers piled on his desk. His bald head shone in the light of Heaven and that made me chuckle when I got to his door. He looked up at me, still holding up papers in his hands.
– Hi – He let out a weak smile and put down the papers.
– Hi! This just came in and the angel made me promise you get it as fast as possible. – I handed him the envelope and glanced at the papers. I couldn't quite make out what was on them as I was still learning the angels' language, but they seemed important.
– Just some old papers I need to power through before my next mission – said Emanadiel as he opened the envelope and started reading the letter with raised eyebrows.
– Oh, so you're going back to Earth? Good luck! – I smiled. In the past I might have asked him if I could accompany him as I was extremely bored, but I knew better by now. Souls can't go back to Earth under any circumstances once they've been to Heaven.
– Thanks, Evie, but this trip might not be as good as in the old times – He looked concerned, turning the paper then putting it away inside his coat.
– And why's that, if I may ask?– asking politely have always made him tell me more.
– Sorry, sweetheart, I can't tell you anything. Not this time, no. – He smiled with a bit of regret in his eyes, then headed for the door. – It will take me about a month or so to get back if anyone asks where I went.
– Okay, stay safe! – I nodded and waved as he disappeared behind the doors of the elevator.
I felt a tad bit sad, but that wasn't enough to crush my hopes that I'll hear of this trip after he got back. He always came back and he always told me all the things he experienced. There haven't been much change to the world since I died, but it was still good to hear some stories and get away from the feeling of being dead, once in a while. Like last time, he told me he discovered a law somewhere in the United States that stated that you can't draw on cows and there was another one that claimed you can't go anywhere with a violin if it's not in a case. Now, I wasn't entirely sure that these were actually a thing, but they always made me chuckle at least when I thought of them.
I sat down at my desk and continued the report about the happiness of the souls already in Heaven. This was an important topic for angels as they had to make sure everyone is happy up here. I wrote down my last paragraph and looked through my work in a speedy way so I could hand it in just in time for the meeting. I couldn't participate in these meetings amongst angels but I often wrote reports and such about souls to help out a bit.
I printed out my report and got up again to search for Sapphire this time. I asked around a bit to find out where I should look, then I headed towards the Gates of Heaven. When I got there, my angel friend stood with his back towards me as he studied the souls outside in pain. Maybe he liked humans a but too much and he couldn't stand their suffering when they were so close to Paradise. I gently tapped him on the shoulder and waited for him to look at me.
– Here's the Happiness Report – I handed him the papers with a reassuring smile that he returned a lot weaker. – Emanadiel went down to Earth. He said he'll be back in a couple of months. He didn't say what it was for. – Sapphire nodded and then glanced one last time to the other side of the gates.
– When will He come back? – I couldn't answer his question so I stayed silent and followed his gaze.

– I think we should finally start looking for him – Sapphire bursted out, making all the angels at the meeting stare at him with disbelief and shock. – He's been away for too long, and it's time to do something.
