looks delicious

Me and my two friends started off the workday by leaving early to get some drinks from Dutch Bros. I got a rebel which is an energy drink because I felt that I would need it, the other two got coffees. Then we went into work an hour early but didn't clock in since one of my friends just turned 18 so he's not guaranteed a break to eat so he got some food before. During that time, we gave our work mama the gift we put together the day before. It was avocado themed since she loves that kind of stuff. She loved it so much she almost teared up.

So we clock in and I take over the cash register so work mama can work on chips. I was watching over another new hire which it seems that he is learning quickly. The shift was decent but there are 5 interactions that were funny/ stressful at the same time.

1- My friend had no other clean pants so she had to wear gray pants. They were the same brand and everything from the pants she wore the day before at work but gray instead of black. Our Gm immediately goes, those are not dress code. Apparently in order to be in dress code they have to have pockets. This is news to me considering I've never been called out on my pants not having pockets. Then he says it's also because her pants were bell bottoms. But again, I've worn bell bottoms around him with no issues, granted they were black though. I'm pretty sure it was only because her pants were gray and not black or jeans.

2- I tell this lady her total and she decides to pay in cash, that's fine. She says she has the 13 cents and for me to wait. I hold the dollars while she takes out the coins. She only gives me 12 cents but had already closed the wallet and was just watching me so I assumed she just didn't have the extra penny. As soon as I start the transaction she goes, "Well what was the point in that? I told you to wait for me to grab the 13 cents." I tell her that I'm sorry but once I start a transaction I can't just cancel it because of our policy. I hand her her 3 dollars and 99 cents. I had already given her the change so it's in her hands and she's in control of it. She drops a few coins in the tip jar I guess accidentally and then gets upset at me before throwing all the change in the jar and storming off without a word.

3- This one lady is very upset that I couldn't give her a discount just brecause we were out of fajita veggies. My friend ended up getting another coworker (not the manager only because he was working on getting every mixed and cut considering we had literally nothing in our reach in). So our coworker come up and he tells her the same thing I did. She looks at him and tells him to open the lid so he can see how bad the food is that she deserves a discount. He opens the bowl, looks her dead in the eyes, and says, "I don't know, this looks like a pretty delicious bowl of food to me, ma'am." me and my friend are laughing at his comment as she becomes more frustrated. Coworker then leaves me to finish ringing her up. All she does after this is complain about the price and how she'll never be coming back.

4- this happened just after the #3 lady and my two friends and I shifts were supposed to end 20 minutes ago. I watch this couple getting rude with my friend on main line and tell my other friend to be ready to get the manager if things got too heated. The couple was asking for the manager but he was busy so he told my friend to apologize to them and give them his name. The couple asked what the managers last name was but we honestly didn't know. They get close enough to the register that I am able to offer them my general managers contact card which the happily accept. They were actually really nice to me (probably because I threw my manager under the bus, I mean, he did call my friend out on her pants so it sounds like an equal trade). My manager ends up being able to talk to them when they get over to the drink station.

5- This one is just funny. My friend brings the last three hard taco shells to the main line for this customer. The new guy doesn't realize that she was standing next to him and as a result, he bumps into her making her drop the shells. She looks at the customer and says, "Well, we did have hard shells." We clock out after this and as we are filling up our drinks before leaving, she back into the same customer and at that point I joke with her and tell her to stop targetting the poor guy over some tacos.

All of this and some customer was able to steal from the tip jar leaving only a single dollar bill and the 99 cents from earlier in order to be split between seven employees. oh well. Oh and it was the first time I've seen someone order a cheese free quesadilla. I think I should invest in a tiny camera that can blend into my glasses. Some of the things that happen at work deserve to be caught on film for the world to see.
