I've been coming here for 18 years
Okay so me and my two friends get into work and clock in a bit early to help out since the line was to the door. We get our aprons on and hop into our spots with me on cash. We have two new people working on the main line. We were out of fajitas and apparently one of the workers on main line said that they could substitute it for sofritas. Which I mean it's another option IG but since it's not a veggie bowl, guac is not included. He gets up to the register and I tell him the total. He's confused with why it costs so much and I tell him that the guac is extra since he didn't get a veggie bowl. He ends up paying but continues trying to argue with me about it. I stay polite the entire time. He goes and I ring in a few more people who are actually nice. My GM is going to use the bathroom and he is stopped by none other than "guac should be free since you have no veggies". Needless to say, he didn't not get a refund for the guac.
A few more customers go by without many issues. Then comes the local, or senor? I ring up his food and he shoves his ID in my face with no words. I tell him the only discount we do is police discounts and they have to be on active duty. He starts laughing and says, "Yes you do, you've always done it." I again tell him we dont. "I've been coming here for 18 years and I always get it." I tell him that we don't again but that I would ask my manager to confirm even though I know we don't. I would have asked my GM but he was doing onboarding with two people in the office so I ask my SM. He tells me just to do it because he doesn't want to deal with it. So I go back up there and say, "Okay, I confirmed that we're not supposed to do it, just so you are aware for next time. But, my manager is going to give it to you today." He yells at me some more before storming out, his card ends up declining.
I end up asking my friend if she can cover cash while I get a drink. I'm shaking and I already know I'm starting to have a panic attack. I grab a drink and then go to the back. I'm able to get my breathing under control. I head back up front and continue as best as I can while keeping my panic as controlled as possible. My GM ends up calling me back to talk to me and see if I was okay. I normally can keep my panic under control unless someone points it out and that's exactly what he did so I start hyperventilating. Under normal circumstances eye contact makes me nervous but I can't physically bring myself to do it during a panic attack. I keep apologizing to my GM and he just says, "Look me in the eyes when I'm talking to you." That just made it ten times worse. I tell him what happened and he said that the guy was an arsehole and that I should have gotten him to kick the guy out. He tells me I can take as much time as I need before going back up. I go and drink some and get my breathing under control again because I was about to fully pass out/faint. I only take a few minutes since I needed something to focus on. I can barely focus on anything but I start to get better as my shift went on.
But it's okay. My SM ended up getting yelled at by a guy since we were out of fajitas, tomatoes, hot salsa, guac, and lettuce. He was saying that he should get a refund. Here's a little conversation
Him: "Why do I even come to Chipotle?"
SM: "I don't know. That sounds like a question for yourself."
SM ends up giving him a card with our GM's contact and then his name. Guy is still not satisfied and him and his buddy walks out so we end up throwing away their food.
At the end of the shift me and my two friends go to get Dutch bros (A coffee shop if you didn't know) to make me feel better. I ended up getting one of their frozen, blended energy drinks since panic attacks tend to make me exhausted.
