Bonding Ties
I wrote a poem about family because anita147_268 and I are doing a sort of exchanging of ideas for poems. I was going to do a silly poem about siblings and rivalry (and I still might later) but last night my best friend's dad died after a surgery for pancreatic cancer. I wasn't really in the mood to write a happy family poem after that, so this is more melancholy and sad. Please don't be depressed by it...
- Wordsmith
Family means sharing--
Sisters and brothers and mothers,
Fathers--
Sharing love, pain, regret;
Family doesn't forget
But forgives a little.
It means being linked
Like spiderweb strands
Or holding hands
Until death--
Until all life and breath--
Is gone,
But not love.
Family is a row of shackles:
Inescapable,
Painful and dreadful,
But filled with enough joy
And love
That it's worth it.
Family is unbreakable--
Unshakable--
Eternally bonding with ties
Until,
one of us dies.
