A Briefly Religious Arch

Once in a glade
A parched arch prayed
To rain and to vain
"God above,
Bring me water!
If the day gets much hotter
I shall surely crumble away
And be naught more than the glade."

And the skies of heaven
Opened for seven,
Seven,
Long and rain-filled days
Because the parched arch prayed
To be saved
From the drought that was his glade.

As rain came splashin,
Thunder came crashing
Lightning kept flashing,
To the heaven's devilish dare
And the arch,
Foolish arch,
Forgot his prayer.

The next day came
When the ground was dry;
Oh the parched arch cried,
"God above,
Have mercy or I shall surely die!"
And the sun beat down
Scorching the parched-arch ground
Until its stone,
Its foolish fleeting stone,
Came crumbling down.
