Surprising Man
The freezing breeze,
slides down my back.
It tickles and cools,
my very warm body.
As I slip off my shoes,
I turn as someone calls my name.
My eyes go wide,
for it was him.
The man I thought lost to me,
the man who had moved.
It had been years ago,
when I had last saw him.
And he had changed,
From young to older.
When he had left,
he had been but a boy.
Now he is a man,
strong and handsome.
If I had been on the edge of a cliff,
I would've fallen over,
When I fell from shock.
But he caught me with a smile,
saying, "Surprise."
And my heart leaped with love,
like it always had.
