he loved her so much

and didn't want to lose

her to the darkness

overtaking her mind

it was on their anniversary

that he gave her a jade stone

he told her it would help

calm her nerves

she held it in her hand

for days and he believed

he saw the light return

to her once solemn eyes

but those storm clouds

were hard to clear

yet still he never once

gave up hope on her

then one summer day

she returned to his arms

as the girl he once knew

before the shadows came
