17 days left
2nd POV
It was yet another day. You showered, got dressed, and went downstairs to find your mom cooking again. Only she was staring in a trance at a bottle of alcohol.
Your heart beat with fear as you hurriedly approached her.
She noticed you and smiled, "Oh, dear, you're awake."
"Mom, please... don't," You stammered in your words, the fear was making its way to you again.
"I just miss him," She sighed and smiled as tears flooded her eyes, "Don't worry.. I'm not foolish enough to drown myself in these. I'm working on myself these past few days and I don't plan to stop."
You gulped, "..Then why do you have that bottle?"
She shook her head, "Just.. some trash I forgot to clean out from a long time ago."
You sighed in relief as she opened the bottle and drained it down the sink empty.
"See?" She giggled, "Now go eat your breakfast, little lady."
You smiled and gladly did so.
17 days left. I can make it.
After breakfast you waved your mom bye as you went outside, surprised to see Suna waiting and gazing up in the sky.
"Suna... you're here," You said as you made your way beside him.
He nodded, "Sorry I didn't tell you beforehand. My phone's dead."
"It's okay, I have my powerbank here. Use it," You said as you handed him the device to which he thanked you for and started to use it.
He put it inside his bag and looked at you with confusion since you were smiling at him.
"What?" He asked.
You giggled, "Morning."
His heart tugged at the sight.
".. Morning."
You began walking after you held his hand to the bus, "Come, we'll be late for practice."
He was very shocked at your hand and his.
Realization came shortly and you turned to him with a red face, "Shit! Sorry. Sorry I got.. overwhelmed."
He gulped and shook his head, "It's fine."
You shot him a sheepish smile and began walking again.
God, why the fuck did I do that?! You were internally screaming at yourself.
After the bus ride that felt awkward, you finally reached the school.
Suna stopped you before you could step outside the bus. You furrowed your brows in confusion.
"Mud," He said.
Suna offered his hands as support, "Jump."
"What?"
He rolled his eyes, "The driver's looking at you. Quick."
You grabbed his hands and jumped forward to avoid it. The bus drove away too quickly, you stumbled in front of him and had pressed your body on his.
"You okay?" He mumbled.
You blushed hard and let go of his hands, "Y-Yeah, sorry," Your feet never walked faster away from him.
"Hey – wait up. Jesus, woman," Suna sighed and jogged to your side.
"Sorry," You muttered. Embarrassment written all over your beet red face.
He snickered, "It's fine. Damn, stop worrying about it."
Earth, swallow me whole. You internally prayed.
Actually, don't. I'm not ready to go yet. You whined in your head.
"Kita and the others must be waiting for us...," You said as you both went to the gymnasium and change your shoes.
"Wait for me again?" Suna asked as he put his shirt on after getting changed in the locker room. You nodded, clipboard in hand as you monitor them. Attendance was already done for, all that's left is for them to train.
"Yeah, is that okay?"
He nodded and went to the court.
"L/n! Do you have my face towel?" Atsumu yelled from across the gymnasium. You nodded and got the towel.
The omelette head jogged to you and smiled.
"What?" You blinked at him, towel still in hand.
He smirked teasingly, "My hands are a bit numb right now, can you please dry me?"
You rolled your eyes internally but agreed.
Atsumu was staring down at you as you pat his face and neck with his towel. He was glad he came up with this plan.
"How are you?" He asked out of the blue.
You stopped momentarily before raking his wet hair behind to dry off more areas, "I'm alright, less worse and managing. What about you? How are your studies?"
"Hmm, it's alright I guess. Kita has been helping us sometimes with homework," He hummed, "Wait, why less worse?"
"It's nothing," You giggled and ruffled his hair with a towel.
He was about to say something again but his twin beat him to it.
"Whaat, me too L/n," Osamu frowned as he made his way to you.
You laughed, "Alright, alright."
Atsumu pushed his brother aside, "Hey, what the hell?? You have hands, dumbass."
"So do you," Osamu raised a brow at him, "Your hands are perfectly fine. Why did you have her do the work?"
Atsumu nervously looked at you before looking back at his twin, "They were numb! Yours weren't."
"Yeah right," Osamu rolled his eyes before giving you his face towel.
"It's okay, I don't mind this," You hummed at Atsumu who pouted and sat on a bench near you.
Osamu closed his eyes, enjoying someone drying his face for him. His mind drifted off to ohagis and some mochi.
Suna has his jaws clenched, unsure why he was feeling uncomfortable at the way you treated the twins, specifically Atsumu. He made his way to you with his face towel.
"Oh, hey, Suna," Osamu mumbled as your hand was patting his cheek, "You here to have Y/n dry your face too?"
"No, thanks," He patted his own face and neck with his towel, "I have hands, actually."
Atsumu rolled his eyes at the mocking tone Suna had while showing Osamu that he can do it by himself.
"Okay," Osamu shrugged and thanked you after.
You turned to Suna who was looking at you with a bored face, "Why the long face? Want me to do it for you, too?"
"Hell no," He rolled his eyes, "Anyway, we're done. Let's go to the library after I shower and change."
"Why?" You asked as you made your way to the restroom to wash your hands. Suna followed.
He shrugged, "I forgot to do my English. Mind?"
"Nope. I'll wait for you then," You said as you entered the restroom. He nodded and went back to grab his things to shower at another restroom.
You went back to the bench where you find the twins taking selfies with your phone during locked mode. You laughed.
"Hey, stop or I'll post those pics online," You grabbed your phone from them as they pouted.
"And please shower, don't touch stuff with your hands dirty," You scrunched your nose.
"Hey, we're not stinky," Osamu frowned.
"I didn't say you are. Just go," You laughed.
Atsumu stood up, "Take pictures with us before we go."
"Hmm, sure," You shrugged and opened your camera in your phone.
Atsumu and Osamu went behind you and posed with peace signs. You pointed your lips and had a peace sign.
"Alright, now off you go," You dismissed them with your hand as you put your phone in your bag and applied some alcohol on your hands.
"Okii," Atsumu chirped and Osamu followed.
You sighed as you sat outside the gym, already changed your shoes.
A few minutes passed and there was Suna getting out the building with a towel on draped around his neck, his hair wet.
"Did you forget to dry your hair or something?" You asked, concerned.
He looked away before gulping and turning to you.
Suna sat down on the bench beside you without saying anything. You realized what he wanted you to do.
You laughed, which made him embarrassed.
"You're silly," You shook your head with a smile and stood up.
You face him and got the towel from his shoulders, thankful that his blazer is not drenched. The towel was different from the ones he used, must've been an extra.
"Sorry.. this is embarrassing," He muttered as you continued to dry his hair for him. The boy was feeling regret, shy, and embarrassed all mixed up.
"Aww, it's alright. I think it's cute," You cooed and you kept raking your hands on his hair, drying them with the towel evenly.
"Sorry to neglect my baby boy," You teased him more as he closed his eyes shut.
"Shut up," He mumbled.
"Alright, done!" You said as he stood up. He towered over you and stared a little longer.
"Thanks," He said after a few seconds and got the towel from your hands before putting them inside a plastic bag inside his sports bag.
"I'm gonna store this in my locker, you go ahead in the library," He said while you both walked.
You shook your head, "It's alright, I'll wait for you."
He shrugged as you both reached the lockers. You watched him put his bag inside and locked it before you started to walk again.
"Shit, it's cold here," He sighed as you both entered the library. The ac's cold air fluttered his slightly damp hair.
You both went to a vacant table. He was confused when you grabbed something from your bag and stood up.
"What are you doing?" He raised a brow.
You frowned, "I'm going to comb your hair... is it okay?"
He took a few seconds to think and shook his head, "Go ahead."
You happily went behind him as you fixed his hair. You pressed down on some parts to keep it in his usual style.
"All tidy," You said as you put your comb back inside your bag after wiggling excess wet.
"It's this lesson. I didn't have time to do it yesterday," He pursed his lips as he took his homework out.
In truth, he did have time to do it. He just wanted to do them with you.
"Oh okay, these seem simple enough."
"You're good with English?" He asked.
You nodded, "I'm fluent."
Suna muttered 'damn' as you both went over the schoolwork.
Time passed by and you both completed the task. Your eyes widened when you checked the time in your phone, "Shit!"
"What?" He asked, surprised.
"It's 7:56 AM. We're going to be late!" You hurriedly fixed your things and he did as well with the same pace.
"Fuck, I have Maths first sub," He panicked a bit, "Actually, no, it's fine. Fuck that clas-"
"I have a test first sub," You groaned as you both hurried to exit the library.
Suna was surprised when you grabbed his hand and sprinted in the hallways.
"Slow down, holy shit," He said as he fixed his bag that almost fell from his shoulder.
You laughed and turned to him, "Isn't this fun? Rushing to class together?"
He was taken aback but had a small smile on his lips.
You reached your classroom with 2 minutes spare. Suna waved at you before you entered the classroom as he jogged to his classroom in the other hallway.
Strange. He thought as he unconsciously clenched his chest. His heartbeat was fast – not from the running, but from something else.
