40-Odette

College. College is approaching and approaching fast. This is one thing I didn't think about too much when it came to Chris and me.

Neither of us have even been accepted to a college yet.

Haha. Oops.

But I'm trying to put that from my mind today because Chris says he has a surprise for me. "The biggest surprise of like, ever," to quote him.

The doorbell rings and all seven of my sisters race to get there first, because they all know who it is. And in Jillian's words, "We all ship you more than we ship ourselves with our future husbands."

Bleh. I threw up a little in my mouth when she said that. That was weird.

"ODETTE ITS YOUR BOYFRIEND!!!" literally all of them screech, before they burst into uncontrollable giggles.

I roll my eyes, with s huge grin on my face and run down the stairs.

"Alright, alright, out of my way you crazy little lunatics," I tease.

I scoop up Chloe in my arms and give her a peck on the check before smiling big at Chris.

"So," I sigh. "Tell me. What's the biggest surprise of my life?"

He smiles mischievously. "You comfortable flying in that?" he smirks.

My jaw drops and then I slowly close it and give him a mysterious sideways glare. One of the other girls let's put a slight chuckle. I can tell it's-

"Theresa... What do you know?" I question.

Now all the girls are letting out little giggles here and there and trying to convince me that they don't know what the heck is happening.

"You might wanna pack a suitcase," Chris says, hardly able to get the words put because of his excited laugh.

"Christopher, I swear, what did you do?"

"Dette!" Jillian says from behind me.

I turn around to see her holding something out to me with that same smirk that says she knows something I don't.

I gently put Chloe back on her feet as if I was the most gentle human on earth-then I turn into a ravenous wolf as I grab the paper out of her hand so fast it makes her head spin.

I open it and my brain won't even process the words.

Congratulations! Your purchase of two tickets to "Hamilton: An American Musical" has been successful.

My head jerks up to see Jillian looking peppier than ever. I don't even know what to say. So of course I say,

"Shut up."

Jillian snorts. "Is that all you can say?"

I wheel around to face Chris, who's tuned bright red.

"Shut up!" I laugh. "You did not- This is impossible, they're sold out until... FOREVER! Who the heck payed for plane tickets to New York AND 6 billion dollar Hamilton tickets I just-"

"Slow down there Lightning McQueen," Chris teases.

I glare at him and roll my eyes. "Ha. Ha."

He steps inside and grabs my hand. "It doesn't matter right now how it happened, Odette. But I promise you this is ligit. We're seeing Hamilton on Broadway baby!"

Thaaaaaaaat my friends is when I start going hysterical with joy.

I'm laughing like a hyena and hugging all of my sisters for longer than most of them appreciate.

When I went in to hug Jillian she said, "You get TEN seconds my friend!"

Then the six year old, Grace shouts, "And that's not all of the surprise!!!!" which got all the other girls aggressively shushing her.

I laugh and decide to let that go. Yeah, we're going to New York. There's lots of "surprises" in store.

"When do we leave?" I practically screech.

Chris looks at his watch. "Two hours?" he laughs nervously.

"Perfect!" I squeal. "I'll go pack!"

"Done," says Jillian.

"Oh! Sweet. All the travel with mischief less of the work," I smile.

Jillian rolls her eyes. "A thank you might have been nice."

I blow her a cheesy kiss and say, "You know I love ya, Jill."

She rolls her eyes and says, "Yeah. Usually."

I shrug and pick up little Chloe and spin her around as she squeals with joy.

I've never appreciated being around so many people in such a crowed place as the entry way of our house.

"Hey, Jill, I assume Mom and and Dad know about this?" I say, voicing it like a question.

She nods. "It took a while for Mom to get used to the fact that her 'little baby's all grown up and going to New York without her momma.'"

I chuckle. "Ahhhh classic."

So I go around and give everyone hugs again and say, "Chris an we head to the airport now?"

He laughs. "That's probably a good idea actually."

"Wow, love you too Dette!" Kill teases sarcastically.

"I know you do!" I say in my annoying sing song voice.

Then I hold up my index finger, telling Chris to wait so I can find my parents and say bye.

Once that's done, we run out and hop into his car and I can't sit still for the life of me. I get in the driver's seat and he gets in passenger.

"Do you know what you're doing?" I ask.

"What do you mean?"

"Like have you ever planned a trip?"

"Relax, Odette, I've got it more planned than anything I've ever done," he chuckles.

"Well, if you say so. You're just not the brightest so I was a little worrie-"

I'm cut off by him playfully smacking me in the arm which causes me to go into one of my laughing fits.

"Geesh!" Chris guffaws. "Maybe it'd be safer for the one armed dude to drive, you're like, having desires over there you're laughing so hard."

It takes me a while but I finally get enough breath to tell him to,

"Shut up!!!"
