A Clock and a Skull
I was simply sitting
Listening
to the Clock's
Tocks
Resonate inside my bones
The new Moon's glow
was hidden beneth Midnight's blanket
But in the corner
The Clock's face shone
Through the curtain of night,
Pale and pure and round.
It stared blankly
From the shelf,
Like the tainted, oval-shaped Skull
residing in the box beside the Clock.
And the Skull's eerie grin
Echoed hollowly
Off the walls of the box
I was simply sitting in.
