I've awakened senses

I never thought to be.

I've learned this from myself

By simply being me.

I've depended on others

For a simple state of mind.

Finally the answers

My very soul did find.

A new dawn has risen

I can see what I must do.

To only count on myself

Is the way to make it through.

I've awakened senses

And I finally see

The way to ones true happiness

Is not by others, but simply being me.

I was lost inside a sea of doubt

I drowned inside my illusions.

I've let go of my old way of thinking

And cleared up my confusions.

A piece of mind

Begins to take toll

I finally found myself

And freed my battered soul.

She wrote this shortly after she received Jesus as her Savior, and just a few months before God called her home. As far as I can tell, this was the last poem she ever wrote.

I told you there was light at the end of her tunnel! She truly was happy and had found herself. As I have said in a previous chapter, Nichole shined. There was a light in her eyes again and she was looking forward to the future.

I thank God she was happy with her life and had a taste of happiness before she had to leave us.
