The Mad Man In My Dreams
This is a Doctor Who Fan fiction I started writing, like, two or three years ago, and I had it published on Wattpad for forever, but I could never figure out a way to continue it! So here is what I had! I obviously wasn't an as experienced writer as I am now, so it isn't AS good as most of my other works in this book. Also, sorry, most likely only Whovians (Doctor Who fans) will understand the whole of this, but I didn't want it to be gone forever! Enjoy! x

Tick tock. Tick tock. Tick tock.
The clocks in the store never stopped ticking, but it didn't bother her. She was sitting in the same leather seat in the corner that she sat in every day for the past three years, waiting for him.
He had only appeared to her once in a dream, but she knew he was coming back, for he had told her. He didn't say when or even how, but he was coming back and she was ready.
She sat quietly swinging her feet to the endless tick-tocking of the clocks, her feet not yet long enough to reach the tile floor. She was only eight, but she was smarter than any of the other kids there. Her long hair laid in perfect brown curls that went all the way down her back and her bright blue eyes watched out the window as the leaves from the autumn trees fell down to the dry ground.
All of a sudden the leaves began to fly up and down and around in the air like birds just learning to fly. She looked down the street at the other trees but they seemed still as can be.
The girl's eyebrows furrowed. There was no sign of any actual wind to make the leaves toss around like that, but then she heard something; a familiar whooshing noise coming from that same spot. Within seconds, a blue police box was standing there and the girl jumped up with excitement, for it was the man in her dream.
And she had to wait no more.
-
Alice watched as the door of the police box opened and a man walked out. He was wearing dark slacks, a white button up, suspenders, and a little red bowtie. And on his head he wore a fez, which made Alice giggle. She couldn't believe it. A man that had once been in her dreams was now standing right in front of her... in a fez.
Then he looked at her. She waved, her smile brighter than ever, and ran outside to him.
"I told you I'd be back!" He yelled.
"It's you! It's really you!" She squealed.
"Now, what was it? Ana? Alyssa?" Alice giggled as the man struggled to remember her name.
"It's Alice." She finally told him and he slapped himself mentally.
"Well, Alice. It's nice to see you again. I'm the Doctor."
"The doctor? But is that not a police box you came in? And you look different from when you were in my dreams... Why?" Alice, being as smart as she was, still did not understand this man.
"Oh, The Doctor is just what they call me. Yes. And I regenerated. New body, but trust me, its the same ole me as before."
"I don't understand. I—" Alice began but then stopped because it was the very first time she had ever been able to say those words.
The Doctor bent down to meet Alice's height. "You will soon. I promise." They stayed in that position for a while, getting lost in the wonderful moment but soon caught up to reality.
"But for now, we've got work to do." He hopped up and walked towards the blue police box. Alice of course followed.
"We?" She asked. "And what work?" The Doctor just looked at her and grinned.
"Oh, you'll see, Little Alice. You'll see."
-
She followed The Doctor as he opened the door to his mysterious box. She walked in and gasped. It was bigger on the inside! She ran back outside, looked at it, ran back inside, trying to believe it was real.
"Yes, it's bigger on the inside." The doctor laughed.
"But how?"
"Timelord science." He answered and Alice nodded, pretending to understand. "So Alice, I need you to help me with something."
"What is it!?" She asked eagerly.
"Well, there's this little boy, around your age, and he's stuck."
"Stuck? Stuck where?"
"In a painting." He replied, but Alice had so many more questions, more than she ever thought was possible for her.
"How—" She began to ask but the fez-wearing man stopped her.
"You'll find out when we get there." Alice nodded and sat quietly. She watched as the Doctor pushed some buttons and pulled different levers so fast that she wasn't sure he knew what he was doing. Then the floor started to shake beneath them and the whooshing noise filled the air again.
Finally everything stilled and Alice stumbled to her feet. The Doctor opened the little door and smiled.
"Welcome to California, Alice!"
-
Alice laughed at what that Doctor had said. There was no possible way they were in California. But when she stepped out, her father's workshop was nowhere to be seen.
"No." Alice yelled as she ran over to the place where the workshop should've been. "This is impossible!"
"Not when you have a TARDIS like mine."
"A what?" Alice turned back to see him petting the police box like it was a pet.
"Time and relative dimension in space. TARDIS. It can go anywhere at any time."
"Even to Mars! Oh, or that one really cool candy shop down in New York! Or to my grandparents farm?! Or—"
"Yes, my dear. Anywhere." The Doctor said taking her little hand in his. "Some other time though. Now we've got to help that boy, remember?!"
Alice nodded and took a deep breath. The place was so peaceful and quiet. And there seemed to be no one around. The streets were empty and all the shops were closed. All except one. It was a small little brick building with a sign that said 'Mr. Sanders Art Studio'. The Doctor pulled opened the door and walked in.
Inside was a mess. There were dirty paint brushes and canvases all across the room and the floor was covered in a paint. In the corner of the room was a small wooden desk, not much cleaner than the rest of the place, and behind it a little man popped out.
"Ello!" He called and pushed up his glasses. "You must be the Doctor!"
"That's me!"
"Painting's in the last room on the left. Good luck!" The Doctor walked fast down the hall, Alice struggling to keep up. When they got to the room that the old man had told them about, they were surprised to find that it was much neater than all the others. And in the corner of it was a painting. And just as the Doctor had said, there was a boy in it.
Alice nearly fainted when the boy began to move and talk to them.
"Hello? Can you help me? I don't know how to get out! And there's these... creatures. I could've swore I saw them move but every time I look they're still in the same spot, same position too. I'm scared."
Alice ran to the painting and put her hand on the boy's.
"It's going to be okay. We'll get you out. I promise."
