I Am is a Verb

My life is like a verb, 

constantly in motion -

from a simple state of being, 

to a storm out on the ocean.

It took some time to realize 

that nothing stays the same,

though things can seem so still, 

we're all undergoing change.

I learned the verb to learn, 

 saw the verb to see,

but the hardest verb for me to get, 

was the verb - to be.

For half a day it ran - my teacher's dedication, 

to make me understand - the rules of predication.

But I am like the verb I can and I'm happy to report -

 the little verb 'I am' became... the one of most import.
