004
since the incident with the blind girl almost half an year had went by and jinwoo had forgotten about it. well, almost. a very small part of him was still thinking about it, but he wasn't aware of it.
all of sudden the telefone of his office rang and he answered it with a sigh. "how may I help you?"
on the other side of the line was a gasp, followed by silence.
"sorry, i wanted to call my friend, but i must've gotten the wrong number."
"it's alright."
"will i seem scary, if i said that i've heard your voice before?"
jinwoo remained quiet for a moment. somehow he also started to recogzice the voice.
"depends."
"around half an year ago i almost fell on the tracks in a train station, but someone saved me from falling. i tried to find that person for a long time, but gave up on it."
the brown haired boy didn't know what to say; his thoughts kept circling around that event. did she really think that much about it?
"now that i found you, i just want to say thank you. you probably saved my life."
"ahh did i? there's nothing to thank me for."
this time the girl didn't reply and jinwoo wasn't even sure if she hadn't hung up.
"you, can i ask something?"
"why not."
"have you always been blind?"
she grabbed her telephone and entered the number of her best friend. at least she thought that she did, because after a few rings a male voice answered the phone.
"how may I help you?"
cho hee had heard this voice only once in her life, but she remembered it as if she heard it every day. after searching for so long and being disappointed all the time she didn't even know what to say, so she ended up excusing herself.
"sorry, i wanted to call my friend, but i must've gotten the wrong number."
"it's alright."
with the thought of all her previous effords she finally got herself together and said what she truely wanted.
"will i seem scary, if i said that i've heard your voice before?"
"depends."
"around half an year ago i almost fell on the tracks in a train station, but someone saved me from falling. i tried to find that person for a long time, but gave up on it. now that i found you, i just want to say thank you. you probably saved my life."
she felt so reliefed as if a big weight was taken off her chest.
"ahh did i? there's nothing to thank me for."
what was he even talking about? didn't he accept her thanks? probably he just found her disgusting and stupid, because she was blind. slowly she convinced herself, that she shouldn't have met him in first place, since it made her feel very sad.
"you, can i ask something?"
somehow her heart melted everytime he spoke, so she decided against her realisations from before.
"why not."
"have you always been blind?"
there was such concern in his voice, that cho hee couldn't help but tell him.
"yes, since i was born."
