Jungkook found himself entangled in the romance that was Anvy and Jimin, neither of which was ready to ask the other out.  He spent his dinner wedged between Mina and Yoongi, awkwardly passing the salt and pepper, then slipping away from the table when everyone was deeply flirting.  His room was the only place he felt safe, even though Jimin was there too.  At this point, he knew Jimin didn't like him anymore, so that set his heart at ease.  Still, he couldn't verbally admit his lingering affection for Kim Taehyung.

In a way, he convinced himself that it wasn't important.  He did what he did best; drown in homework and lock himself away in the comfort of his room.  Biology, physics, engineering, whatever it took to get his mind off of something unrealistic.  That night after Taehyung had gushed on about Sora, Jungkook couldn't get the mental image of this beautiful girl out of his hand.  He even woke up in the middle of night from a nightmare in which Taehyung had his hands all over her.  It confused him.

Jungkook only saw Taehyung twice in next month: once at his mother's house, and the other while hanging out with Jimin.  They barely exchanged words, Taehyung a bit more interested in Jimin.  A few times, even, Jungkook pressed his tongue against his inner cheek, something he only did subconsciously out of jealousy.  It didn't help that Taehyung had no recognition of Jungkook's peculiar and subtle affection for him; oh, his heart was wrapped around Sora.  However, Jungkook did not if it was romantic or platonic.  He knew that Taehyung was gay, but bisexual was a new subject.

In turn, it was a chaotic love story, feelings thrown like water balloons in the summer.  Jimin and Anvy's interactions were the most interesting.  Jungkook almost felt like laughing when they talked.  Things took a turn for the worse when he was forced to third-wheel because Jimin was taking Anvy out for a fancy and exquisite dinner.  He tossed on a striped polo and khakis, slipping on his pricey loafers, while Jimin dolled himself in a collared shirt and spent twenty-minutes straightening his tie.  Jungkook filmed the whole experience, amused.

"And why is this funny exactly?"  Jimin asked, running the comb through his orange curls for the hundredth time.  "First impressions are everything Jeon Jungkook.  What was yours like with Taehyung?"

"Let's not talk about him," Jungkook quickly replied.  "This is your night, think about what you're going to say to her.  You know you kinda suck at making conversation."

"Which is precisely why you're tagging along," Jimin explained, squirting a dash of cologne over his body.  Smells like the men's department of Macy's, Jungkook thought, wrinkling his nose.  "You can be. . . the uh. . . moderator!"

"Like in a debate?"

"Exactly!  Glad you know what I mean!"  He slapped Jungkook's back, beaming.  Jungkook returned a sheepish smile, giving a halfhearted thumbs up.  The two boys sauntered out of the bathroom, to the living room where Mina's face lit up with delight.

"Oh you guys look absolutely stunning! I wish Yoongi still took me out on dates like this!"  She glared at Yoongi, peacefully immersed in a novel, sipping a glass of wine.  He didn't even hear her.

"Third-wheelin' here Mina," Jungkook reminded her.  "It's not too late for Anvy to cancel, is it?"

"Nari already bailed to go hang out with Taehyung, so she doesn't have any plans," Jimin said, fixing himself up, once again, in the mirror.  "This is my chance!"

"Chance to finally talk to her," Yoongi muttered in the corner.  Jimin shot him a glare, and he chuckled.  "Kidding, kidding.  Go get her, kid."

"Let's go Jeon," Jimin said, chucking a coat at him.  Anvy's place was a five minute walk from their apartment, but in order to carry out the perfect elegant atmosphere, he needed to pick her up in a car.

Jungkook sat like a middle-schooler in the backseat, scrolling through his phone, and pouting for the majority of the way to the restauraunt.  Anvy had little to no interest in Jungkook, and he too wasn't a huge fan of her.  Jimin, however, was like her puppy.  His eyes got all wide when he talked to her, and his voice upturned a whole hell of a lot.  When they arrived, he acted like a true gentleman, holding the door open for her and asking to park in the valet. Goddamn he's a sugar daddy alright, Jungkook thought as Jimin handed over the twenty dollars for valet parking.  He'd suggested to park up the street at Eddy's diner, but Jimin supposedly knew Anvy needed this extravagant luxury.

The restauraunt was Le Grenouille, a once-in-a-lifetime eatery with delicacies beyond Anvy's imagination.  Jungkook found it a bit strange that Anvy had not once insisted that she cover the bill, or even order from the small portion size.  Quite frankly, she chose the largest option, and also the most expensive.  Jungkook's eyes widened when she ordered, and Jimin kicked him under the table.

"Are you enjoying it here?"  He asked Anvy.  She nodded shyly, her legs crossed and her shoulders tucked in.  She was in a small black dress and black strappy heels to match.  "It's one of my favorite places to eat."

"You come here often?"  She asked, bewildered but also amused.  Jungkook gave Jimin a 'what-the-hell-are-you-doing' look but he kicked him under the table once again and nodded to Anvy's question.

"Oh yeah, this is one of my favorite places to go on the weekend."  He was using his manly voice now, the one he used during presentations.  "I. . . love French food!"  Jungkook rolled his eyes, disappointed with this decision upon himself.  He snuck his phone out under the table and browsed through texts, until he saw Taehyung's message.

Any plans for tonight?

He laughed to himself under the table, uncertain how to reply.

Third-wheeling, as usual.  You?

Going out for dinner, nothin' big.

Jungkook figured; Nari was hanging out with him, so they must be at a pizza place.  Taehyung loved pizza.  On every single date they'd been on, Taehyung begged for pizza, but Jungkook preferred sushi and other authentic Asian foods.  Taehyung was, no doubt, a big city American.

"Here are your drinks," a petite waitress said, setting down two glasses of wine for Jungkook and Jimin, while Anvy had a glass of sparkling lemonade.  Jimin laughed upon seeing this.

"What?"

"Treat yourself, c'mon," he teased.  "Excuse me," he called the waitress, just as she was leaving.  "Can I get a Loire for the young miss?  It's her special night."

"Jimin!" Anvy exclaimed, but she didn't butt in.  Oh, she knew he was treating her well, no one could deny it.

"All on me, I swear.  So, what do you have planned for break?"

"That's nearly a month away Jimin," Jungkook pointed out, swirling his red wine around.  Some spilled on the ivory dining cloth and he quickly adjusted it so that the stain would be invisible.  "Are you meeting up with your family for Thanksgiving?"

"Yes," she replied.  "My extended family from India is coming to pay us a visit."

"Damn, I love Indian food," Jimin said, in a ravishingly handsome voice.  Anvy shifted in her seat, giving him a delightful smile.  "You should definitely introduce me to them.  I'm sure they'd love a Korean."

"Inviting the boy home after the first date?  You're quite sure of this, aren't you?"  She was poking at his confidence.

"It's going well though, isn't it?"  Anvy nodded, and the night drew itself out.  The conversations went from a blocked stream to gushing rapids, as Jimin found many interests between him and Anvy.  She felt her heart soften as Jimin found the perfect topics to discuss; a wall was broken, a wall she thought no one could have ever broken.  They both adored watching sunsets and the beach, and Jimin was profoundly interested in the beauty of the Hindu culture.  More and more did Jungkook feel like he truly was not needed, and he almost left immediately after scouring down his coq au vin.  Jimin and Anvy were hitting it off; it practically made Jungkook feel left out, possibly envy their connection.

"Excuse me for a moment," he said, rising to use the restroom.  His footsteps were long and swift, eager to reach the restroom, particular to avoid the two lovebirds.  He locked himself in a stall and sat on the toilet seat, scrolling through unread messages from Taehyung. Twelve, precisely.

Jungkook let out a sigh; did he really need to see Taehyung after all the emotions of Sora? He sat for a moment, calculating the pros and cons, then finally rose, leaving the restroom to search for him.  Luckily, Taehyung's table was in the opposite of Jimin and Anvy's so Jungkook didn't even have to sneak past them. He neared the fountain that had a angel sculpted in the middle, pouring water from a ceramic pot.  The lights were dimmer here, creating a genuine romantic aura.  Jungkook's phone buzzed again.

On your left idiot

He was dressed in one of his million suits: a black button up t-shirt with his essential variety of necklaces, some chokers here and there.  Surely, he hadn't forgotten the mysterious silver necklace that contained a pendant with unknown contents.  This style was signature, indigenous.  He wore a golden blazer, another item from Gucci, no question there.  How it didn't make the other guests blind, no one knew.  Black dress pants and black dress shoes; a nostalgic look indeed. Jungkook started towards him when he heart almost dropped.

Across from him did not sit the lovely Nari, sister of Kim Taehyung, but another pretty girl. Lean and frail, she exhibited a lustrous aura, not just in her expensive clothes, but the way in which she presented herself.  Her legs were crossed, eyes fixated on Jungkook.  His heart raced, and his tongue was stuck to the roof of his mouth.

"So this introduction is happening already? Fine by me!  Jungkook, meet Sora.  Sora, this is my good friend Jungkook."

"Nice to meet you Jungkook."  She spoke in such a petite voice, like she was speaking to a sleeping baby.  "I've heard much about you."

"Same to you," he answered.  "So, are you guys on a date?"

"Wh-no, no," Sora quickly denied.  "This is just catching up and Taehyung's my friend."  Yes of course.  Catching up.  In an expensive French restauraunt.  Wearing fancy clothes.  Nothin' like a good catchin' up.  Jungkook let his mind wander eternally.  "Who are you here with?"

"Oh, I'm third-wheeling on a date with my best friend and his probable girlfriend," Jungkook chuckled and Sora joined in.  It set him at ease knowing she wasn't awkward.  The only thing that rose the awkward tension was the way in which Taehyung looked at her; the same looks he gave Jungkook when he first asked him to prom. . . the same looks he gave someone when he was in love wi-

"Is Jimin waiting for you?"  Taehyung asked.  Jungkook nodded, snapping out of his migrant thoughts.  "You should definitely get back to him."  Taehyung instantly noticed his abrupt dismissal, to which he added, "Sorry for this, but we'll plan something so you guys can get to know each other even more!"

"Of course," Jungkook agreed, giving Sora a small wave.  "It was a pleasure meeting you, Sora."

"You as well Jungkook.  Take care!"  And with that, Jungkook walked back to his table with Jimin and Anvy, surely hearing Sora's laughter from another one of Taehyung's cheesy jokes. His chest contracted only a little bit, but he didn't know why.

"Long bathroom break?" Jimin instantaneously asked, and Jungkook nodded, forcing a smile. His mind was only on Taehyung now, unable to follow any of the conversation between Jimin and Anvy.

"Bill?" The waitress returned and slipped it to Jimin. He tried not to let his eyes bulge upon seeing the total, and Anvy dived into her unread messages to avoid confrontation.

"I'm sorry the to-"

"First date, all me," Jimin declared, signing away. He gave it back, still smiling. "Of course, considering there will be more dates to come."

"Definitely," she agreed, and they rose from the booth as he helped her put her coat on. Jungkook, too stood, and stretched out his long legs. The three of them thanked the hostess and Jimin received his car from the valet. The entire way home, Jungkook poked his head out the window and let his mind wander. Sora and Taehyung. . .

They were soon outside Anvy's house and Jimin walked her to the doorstep. Jungkook watched from afar as he leaned in for a kiss on the cheek, and Anvy's lips collided with Jimin's. He couldn't help but smile. Jimin skipped back, bouncing in his seat, and said, "Did you see that? DID YOU SEE THAT?"

"Hell yes," Jungkook congratulated, moving up to the passenger seat. "The first date was a success, and you guys are legitimately dating now, haha."

"So, where did you actually go during your supposed bathroom break?" Jimin popped the question so casually that Jungkook couldn't keep a straight face.

"Wha. . .? I was in the bathroom! Where else would I have gone?" Jimin eyed him seriously; the two knew each other so well that Jungkook couldn't keep a secret even for a second.

"You mean to tell me you went to the bathroom for twenty minutes? Also Anvy saw you walk in the other direction, but we decided not to call for you." Jungkook fell silent, burying his hands under his seat. "So?"

"I just went to see a friend."

"No, oh my God."

"What?"

"You saw Taehyung didn't you?"

"What? No," Jungkook laughed. "Ridiculous. . ."

"You've sucked at lying since day one, Jesus Christ why?"

"Why what?"

"Jungkook!" Jimin halted the car abruptly before their apartment and wrapped his arm around the headrest of Jungkook's seat. "I'm being serious. Why did you go back?"

"He texted me! He said he wanted to see me." Jungkook's voice was cracking, and he was trying not to cry. Why the hell was he going to cry? God knows.

"Yeah but, you just can't do this to yourself dude," Jimin said. He knew all about Sora after Jungkook came home that night, a pitiful mess. "Why are you falling for him again? What did he do? Excuse me, what hasn't he done to make you feel like shit? Why do you keep going back?"

"I don't know, okay?" Jungkook barely screamed. "I. . . don't know. Honestly, ask me in two weeks and I still won't know. I keep going back and I don't have to."

"So you acknowledge this?"

"Yes! Of course I do, God!"

"Then just stop," Jimin pleaded. "It's not good for you, because certainly Taehyung has other ideas for himself." Jungkook's heart twisted at this realization, and he suddenly pushed the car door open and stomped to the entrance. "Get back here!"

"We don't have to talk about this!" He yelled back.

"We'll have to the next time you come home crying because of someone who doesn't even care about you!" And before Jungkook opened the door to their apartment, he contemplated turning back and facing this, but his footsteps carried him inside where he could forget and begin the tumultuous cycle all over again.
