The air was pleasant at this time of night. It was getting close to early dawn, so it was still quite dark out, but the sun was slowly showing itself. The cool temperature was pretty nice. It was perfect for a hunt.
The beautiful Alpha effortlessly dashed in between the tall forest trees, leaping over fallen trunks and not letting them slow down his pace. He didn't want to go too far though because he wanted to stay close enough in case anything were to happen to the group he's trying to impress while he's away.
When Hongjoong, the leader, asked him to hunt for the group to prove his loyalty, San knew there was no way he could refuse. He wanted to gain the other Alpha's trust. So ideally he wanted to find a large buck to bring back. That would be more than enough to feed the group of five.
With his senses alert, the Alpha continued to sprint throughout the area. Of course, he passed a few decent sized does and fawns, but they weren't good enough.
Finally, he spotted the perfect one. There it was, standing in the middle of a beautiful clearing, walls of forest all around it. His antlers were magnificent. The tall grass and the violet and yellow wildflowers stood as tall as the buck's legs. The scene was gorgeous a gave off a sense of serenity.
But it would have to be interrupted.
Being as silent as possible, the black speckled wolf crouched down, using the tall grass to his advantage to remain hidden from the deer. He stayed just outside the outskirts of the forest so his dark coat wouldn't be so noticeable.
As the buck slowly trotted in the opposite direction, San carefully crept forward. The fur on the wolf's back was bristling from excitement. It has been so long since San has truly hunted.
Anymore, wolves hardly ever have a need to hunt themselves. Their world is fairly modernized. So San loved the idea of getting to completely let his wolf loose and go back to the basics of hunting. It was absolutely liberating.
While the Alpha inched forward, one paw at a time, he accidentally snapped a tiny twig, which made a slight cracking sound. The buck paused all movement and lifted his head, looking back in the direction of the noise. San ducked down even further, making sure that his breathing was light.
After a moment, the buck concluded that he was safe and turned back around. He shifted his hind legs back, looking like he was a about to run forward into the other side of the clearing.
This was San's chance.
Before the deer could get away, San darted forward, leaping into the air, his fur being pushed back by the wind, and landed on the buck's back, his teeth latching on to it's throat.
Of course, the deer put up a fight, thrashing his head back and forth to toss the wolf off, but San's jaw tightened. He was determined to win. So with one violent whip of his head, he pulled back at the flesh of the large buck, ending the battle.
San looked away as all the life and beauty that was there only a short moment ago, slowly dissipated. This was the hardest part, but it had to happen.
The Alpha took a few minutes to fully scan over his kill. He was proud with the size and the amount of meat that was on the buck's bones. He was one hundred percent sure that Hongjoong would be impressed that he was able to take one down this size by himself. And he had done it so effortlessly.
If the unofficial pack wanted, they could repurpose a decent amount of the fur skin to make into a blanket. Though, he's unsure of what the others need. He doesn't know what their plans are moving forward from where they currently are or what their normal routines are.
As much as Seonghwa doesn't trust him, San's having to put a lot of trust in them too.
He bends his neck down to grab one of the buck's hind legs in his mouth, feeling the heavy weight of the large limb, before dragging the conquered deer behind him, back to the cave where the others would be waiting.

Yeosang wore a sheepish grin on his face the entire time he towed the young Beta behind him. He had a fair inclination that Hongjoong and Seonghwa were going to really enjoy the time that they have alone. The younger brother could tell that Seonghwa was in desperate need for a good time.
"I can tell you're smirking without seeing it. I can sense it" Jongho mumbled, watching their interlocked hands while he willingly followed the older through the forestry.
Though they weren't mated, or even a part of a pack link anymore, Jongho has always been able to almost feel what the Omega was thinking or feeling. The two childhood friends, without fail, can sense when the other is a little off or really excited every time.
The Omega snickered at what the younger said. "I just know what those two will be up to while we're away is all."
Jongho grimaced behind him, but didn't comment on it. "We probably shouldn't go too far though. We don't want to accidentally run into anyone..." He bit his lip, not hard, but enough. As always, he was worried about the Omega. He's watched the male be taken away right in front of his eyes before, and he couldn't fathom the idea of having that happen again.
"I know, I know" he stopped them in their current place, but didn't let the other's hand go. "I don't want to be too far to where Joong can't feel you through your guys' pack bond, but I wanted to be far enough away to where you wouldn't have to be as aware of what those two were feeling..." Yeosang adorably scrunched his nose.
Ever since Yeosang was captured over six months ago, he hasn't been a part of their pack bond. The facility made sure that any bonds he had were broken and within the day they have all been reunited, there hasn't been a chance to reform it. He misses that connection with the three closest people to him, the people that always made him feel like more than just something to breed.
"I just worry about you..." Jongho looked away as he said this, too shy to face the older. He was never good at directly showing his feelings, though he wasn't good at hiding them either.
The older reached a hand up, grasping Jongho's cheeks and squeezing them together, making his lips pucker out in a bigger pout. Yeosang looked at him deeply in the eyes and inhaled a breath before sighing out, "I know you do. You've always been so caring... but I don't want to feel any more victimized than I already do."
He let go of the Beta's cheeks before grabbing his free hand and interlacing their fingers with both. "If I constantly worry about being found again, I'll never feel like I was ever set free. You saved me already, Jongho. Let's enjoy the freedom I have for this moment."
He said the last part in a whisper, leaning his forehead against the younger's. Jongho's heart fluttered at the intimate contact.
Yeosang pulled away. "Now!" He said animatedly. "Let's take a lovely walk, while we watch the sunrise. The weather is really nice this morning."
It really was a beautiful early morning, which was perfect for the Omega since he hasn't seen any sunlight for over half a year.
The pair leisurely walked together, hand in hand, and as the sun started to make its presence known, Jongho looked over toward the older. The sun was rising at the perfect position to cast right against the side of Yeosang's face, casting shadows only to enhance his already immaculate features. He was undeniably stunning.
He had wavy, light brown hair that fell right below the tips of his ears. He had hypnotizing, hazel eyes that he couldn't help but get lost in. His facial features were perfectly symmetrical, aside from the precious birthmark by his left eye. That was probably Jongo's personal favorite part of the older.
"I've truly missed your face" Jongho unintentionally blurted out, instantly covering his mouth after the sentence slipped past his lips.
Yeosang turned toward him, a bit of shock appearing on his face, but it was instantly wiped away by the large grin that took its place, a grin that perfectly displayed his flawless top row of teeth. This only made the younger's heart combust even more if that was possible.
Between his deeps chuckles, Yeosang stated, "I've missed your face too, but it looks like you lost some more baby fat! You look more... manly."
Now Jongho's heart has been completely obliterated. He almost reached up to place his hand on his chest to check if it was even still beating. Instead, he clenched his eyes shut and turned his head away. "You're such a tease. It's mean." The Beta's orange, citrusy scent spiked a bit, showing just how embarrassed he was.
The enhanced scent just made Yeosang giggle harder, but he didn't tease the younger any further by saying anything else.
The Beta and Omega continued on their aimless stroll for another thirty minutes before they decided it was probably a good time to start heading back. Yeosang turned around a bit too fast, and the movement made his stomach churn.
"Ugh" he moaned, bending slightly forward and placing both hands on his irritated belly. Sweat started to bead on his forehead and he felt dizzy.
"Woah, what's wrong?" Jongho asked, placing a gentle hand on the Omega's back, his eyebrows furrowed with concern and confusion.
After a couple deep breaths, Yeosang stood upright once more, moving his arms back down to his sides. "I think I'm just exhausted. A lot has happened in the past twenty-four hours and we haven't had much time to fully rest. Even while in the cave, we were still on full alert while we 'slept', and I think I just spun around too fast" he explained.
"Mm." The Beta nodded his head in complete understanding. "Let's get you back to the cave, then. I think you need to lay down and get some real rest while we prepare dinner. Hopefully that San guy will be back with something good."
Luckily, the pair made it back to the cave at about the same time as the mysterious Alpha.
San dropped the buck in front of the cave entrance before turning around and shifting, pulling on his pair of pants he had left discarded there. His gaze found Yeosang as soon as he faced them again and for some reason, it made Jongho a little uncomfortable.
He stood in front of the Omega just in case, though the new Alpha didn't give off any dangerous vibes. It was more like curiosity.
As though they felt the others outside, Hongjoong and Seongwa stepped out from the cave, both with pink cheeks, especially the older. The smell of cinnamon apples was extremely strong, but none of the three would comment on it. They all had the assumption that the inside would probably only be stronger and it would need some time to air out.
Jongho helped Yeosang to carefully sit down on the ground, noticing the fatigued look on his beautiful face.
"What's wrong?" Hongjoong asked in a worried tone.
"He's alright. Just a little tired and probably hungry too" the youngest informed, and right on cue, the Omega's stomach rumbled.
"Well, it looks like San here got a good catch. Nice job, San." The leader placed a hand on the other Alpha's shoulder, truly impressed by the large kill in front of him. They could all eat off of the deer for a couple days if needed.
San nodded his head in thanks. "So does this help prove my alliance?"
Hongjoong smiled wide and held his arm out to him. "I think it does." The other Alpha reached his hand out as well, grasping the older's forearm, then shuddering as the pack link opened up to him.
The leader reached the same arm down toward his younger brother to do the same, and Yeosang beamed as he once again felt that bond that he had missed so dearly. It was as though a missing piece to him was finally given back.
"Alright, I'm starving! So let's skin this big thing!" Seonghwa clapped his hands together, making the other four noisily laugh, but get to work nonetheless.
