Chapter Two: "Eat Me"

Sean let out a heavy sigh as he stood in the center of the room. The walls looked like solid white cement, causing him to hug himself. There was nowhere to go. The Cheshire Cat was out of his mind. He waited a minute hoping something would change like the Cheshire Cat said, but nothing did. Frustrated, he muttered out. "Fuck this. I'll just try again." Sean turned around to head to the fireplace, then gasped. The fireplace was gone! Sean moved up to the wall, starting to hyperventilate as he said to himself. "No. No! NO! Don't trap me in here, please?!" Whirling around, Sean tried to see if another way had revealed itself while he wasn't looking, but there was nothing. Pacing around, he felt like an animal in a cage as he yelled out. "Cheshire Cat?! Anyone?! HELP!" Standing back in the center, he grumbled out. "Come on! This isn't funny!" A sudden cracking sound came from behind him, prompting him to slowly turn around. As he did, he swallowed hard. Along the floor a crack had formed. Sean's heart began to race as a piece of the floor fell away to reveal a long freefall into what looked like ocean below! Sean started to become very aware of how thin the floor was as more cracks started appearing. Shaking his head, he trembled as he uttered out. "Oh, god no... I wanted an exit but NOT one that goes that way."

Sean started to scream for help, watching the floor crack and fall away more. Looking around for anything to grab onto, he saw the white rabbit with bright blue eyes sitting on what remained of the floor across from him. The floor cracked forcing them farther apart, but Sean reached out and beckoned to it as he said aloud. "Jump! I'll catch you!" The rabbit tilted its head like it didn't understand. Sean felt the ground under him shake, but he reached out desperately as he snapped out in a panic. "Come here! Or you'll die!" The rabbit stood up on all fours, bracing itself to jump. Sean planned to catch the rabbit and run to the wall. The rabbit jumped, landing on his shoulder before leaping to a spot behind him. The rabbit was much heavier than he looked, causing Sean to lose his balance and fall. Sean barely let out a soft scream, before he fell over the massive hole... but hit solid floor. Sean winced, sitting up quickly. The giant hole to the ocean below was an illusion and a damn good one. Clutching his heart, he glared at the rabbit that now sat by the wall as calm as ever. Pointing at it, he snapped out. "You could have just walked across. You little bastard! I almost had a heart attack!" The rabbit seemed to grin wickedly, before scooting closer to the wall to claw at it.

Sean crawled across the floor to get closer to the rabbit, bitterly blurting out to the stupid creature. "Did you just give me a shit eating grin? You did it on purpose, didn't you! Well, now who is stupid! It's a wall! There is no way through." The rabbit sat down, scratching one of its long ears. Sean looked away for a second and when he looked back, his eyes widened in shock. All he saw was the rabbit's bushy tail slipping under the wall seamlessly. Sean touched the wall, but it felt solid and smooth. Sliding a hand along the bottom though, Sean stopped. His mind was blown when he pulled up what appeared to be a curtain that looked like a cement wall, revealing a brick wall behind it with a small open door. The rabbit hopped across the floor to the next room, then turned to look back at him with another smug grin. Sean glared at the rabbit, muttering out. "Alright. I'll admit. That didn't even cross my mind... not that it should have. Who builds a room like this in the first place?!" Lifting the curtain more, Sean slid into the next room feet first. Getting to his feet, he looked around at this square room. It was similar to the previous one, but the walls were done in dark wood and pictures on the walls moved.

The pictures were all water themed. Some had sailing pirate ships in storms, some were locked in battles. There was one with a pirate ship in the distance and a merman lounging on a rock by a beautiful beach. The water washed over what appeared to be the glass of the picture, giving the illusion that it was a tank or a window. Taking his eyes off the pictures, he looked for the rabbit, but it was gone. However, at the other side of the room was a short wooden door with a golden door handle. Running over to it, Sean grabbed the round golden knob and turned it. The moment he did, eyes opened on the escutcheon and the keyhole that acted like its mouth, let out a startled sound. Sean released the round knob that was the door's nose, falling back on his ass as he blurted out. "Shite! I'm sorry! I thought... I didn't know..." The Escutcheon rotated its nose back, telling him with a small smile. "It's quite alright. Happens all the time. Although, you did give me quite a turn. In the future, try knocking first. Now. What can I do for you?" Sean blinked, then said very softly to the door. "Sure... Um, I think the white rabbit came through here. Did you see him?" The Escutcheon blinked, then said curiously. "A white rabbit? Let me see..." The Escutcheon closed its eyes and went still a moment, then opened them again and said excitedly. "Why yes. There does seem to be a rabbit on the other side of me. Want to see?"

Sean nodded uneasily at how he was going to show him. The Escutcheon opened its keyhole mouth wide. Leaning forward just a little, he wearily peeked through and looked in awe of the other side. The other side of the door had a gorgeous white stone bridge that went on for a few miles. The bridge had square sections every few feet that were designed like a greenhouse glass cover. Leaving the parts between the glass covers open to the elements. At each of the glass covers though, four stationed stone chess knight statues were using the roofs of the covers to play a game of Bridge with large playing cards. The moon was so bright as it shined down over the bridge and the many ships that sat along the vast ocean. The strange place he was in seemed to be the start of the bridge and sitting just outside with perked up ears was the rabbit. It stared at him with another smile as beautiful fluffy clouds passed high in the sky behind him. Bowing his head, Sean uttered out. "That smug little... Ugh!" Taking a deep breath to calm himself, he looked at the door and said dryly. "Yep. That's him. Please open." The Escutcheon winced, then told him reluctantly. "Oooo, I'm sorry, little Oyster. For you, I am impassable. While I am allowed to let the citizens of Wonderland in. I'm afraid I'm locked for Oysters. It's a safety precaution."

Sean crossed his arms, asking curiously. "How do you know that I'm not a citizen of Wonderland?" The Escutcheon chuckled, narrowing his beady bolt eyes on him as he answered nicely. "I can't. But you certainly won't make it through me at that size. However, if you wish to go through. Just preform a simple task and I can let you through." Sean rolled his eyes, asking nicely. "Oh, alright. What do I have to do?" The Escutcheon's eyes darted to the side, upon telling him. "See that bottle on the table there? Read the directions. It will direct you in the right direction." Sean raised an eyebrow, starting to blurt out as he gestured around. "What table? There is nothing... here." As he turned, a table was now sitting in the center of the room with a small bottle on it. Getting to his feet slowly, Sean asked the door cautiously. "Right... What will it do to me?" The door answered promptly. "I don't know. I don't know how to read. I'm simply the doorman." Sean reached out to pick up the little clear bottle that had a little white tag tied around the neck. Written on the white tag in pretty penmanship were the words; 'Drink Me.'

Sean huffed, mumbling out to himself. "Yes. That is extremely helpful. Where is the part where you tell me what this shite is? It could be poison for all I know... Or a drug." Sean removed the glass cork, bringing the bottle to his nose to sniff it. It smelled like blueberries and the light blue liquid inside gave the impression it was juice. Looking around, he then asked the Doorman. "Have you seen 'Oysters' use this before?" The Doorman nodded, answering with a smile. "Oh, yes. Loads of times. It's completely harmless." Sean exhaled, then brought the bottle to his lips to drink it. As he drank, the Doorman suddenly added. "Useless you drink too much. I mean, I did see an Oyster get stepped on once. It wasn't pretty." Sean coughed, stopping himself from drinking the other half of the bottle. The liquid tasted like a warm cherry tart going down his throat. It was delicious and addictive to drink, but he slammed the cork in it to resist the temptation. After corking the bottle, he yelped as his body started to shrink down. The bottle grew too big for him to hold, forcing him to drop to his ass with his legs spread as the bottle thudded heavily between them, nearly crushing him.

The Doorman began to chuckle out to him. "Whoa, you shouldn't drink it all. Drink too much at once and you can put yourself out like a light. The last thing you want to do is fall asleep in the middle of the floor at the size of a mouse. People get stepped on that way, you know." Sean shoved the bottle's tag away from him, getting to his feet as he yelled out in a voice that was high a squeaky as if he was on helium. "You almost got me killed! Why didn't you say something before I... What's happened to my voice?!" The Doorman tried to suppress a laugh but failed as he burst into hysterics and told him. "What did you expect to sound like at your height?" Sean stomped over to the door, yelling out angrily. "Ha! HA! Quit your laughing and open up! Let me through!" The Doorman laughed harder, snickering out with some difficulty. "I can't. I forgot to tell you. I'm locked." Sean threw his hands up, yelling out. "WHAT?!" The Doorman composed himself long enough to answer. "It's fine. Just use the key." Sean looked around the floor, snapping out in his high squeaky voice. "What mother fucking key?!" The Doorman's chuckling slowly faded out as he asked seriously. "Oh, no... Don't tell me you left it up there?"

Sean followed the Doorman's eyes back up to the glass table, where a golden key was. The Golden key had a red diamond shape on the handle, while the long golden end went out to what looked like a little flag with a crown on it. Sean's shoulder dropped as he looked up at it and said under his breath. "Oh, fuck me..." The Doorman must have overheard him because he blurted out to him. "That is a great idea!" Sean's eyes grew wide as he jerked his head in the Doorman's direction, blurting out. "Excuse me?" The Doorman chuckled, regaling to him happily. "I had forgotten all about the emergency box. Crisis averted. Just retrieve the box from the under the table." Sean relaxed a little. Had the Doorman not fully understood what he'd said in his tiny voice? Moving to the table, he retrieved a little golden box with candy decorations on it. Lifting the lid, he narrowed his eyes on the Doorman, stating out. "Now that is just rude." The Doorman didn't seem to get it and Sean removed a small square cookie with frosting on it that read; 'Eat Me." Sighing heavily, Sean grumbled out. "Just great... Now what is this going to do? I'm already scrawny. I swear if this makes me stretch, I'm going to lose my-" Sean cut himself off to eat the small cookie whole.

It tasted like a soft sugar cookie, and he loved it. Until his body started to grow larger and larger. His head hit the underside of the glass table, causing Sean to yelp in pain as it was knocked over. He heard the key jingle off somewhere, but his body was still growing. Before Sean knew it, his head hit the ceiling with a hard thud, and his long legs were positioned awkwardly in the small space. He was stuck, he couldn't move. From far below, he heard the Doorman gawk out in awe as he chuckled out. "Whoa! A little of that went a long way! Maybe we should call in the Carpenter. He usually supervises the Oysters to keep this from happening." Sean tried to shift around, growling out. "Oh, shut up! I'd smash you open with my heel, but I can't move!" The Doorman laughed a bit more, telling him calmly. "Oh, no need to be sore about it. Although, in that position... I'm sure you will be soon enough." Frustrated, Sean pressed his back against the wall hard and forced his feet to move closer to the Doorman as he strained out through clenched teeth. "How about I just kick down the whole fucking wall!" The Doorman stopped laughing to yell out in a panic. "What are you doing?! Don't do that?! You'll-" The Doorman was cut off by a loud smashing of glass.

At first, Sean thought he had crushed the glass table, until he felt water start rushing down his back. The water was icy cold and started to fill the room with water. The Doorman gasped, yelling out in a panic. "What have you done?! You broke a picture! You've let the ocean in! Quick! Turn the picture around!" Sean winced, snapping out. "I can't even move! How am I supposed to do anything?!" The room filled faster and faster, until the Doorman tried to scream out over the waters surface. "THE BOTTLE! THE BOTTLE!" Sean scanned the water with his eyes, noticing the little tag floating on the water with the sealed bottle. Grabbing the bottle, Sean pulled the small glass cork off, then tossed back the last of the liquid. His body shrunk in the air, before falling into the water with the bottle in a tiny splash. Sean coughed as salt water filled his mouth and the waves forced him violently around the room. Swimming up to the tag, he clung to the tag's rope that was tied around the neck of the bottle. From the picture, someone screamed and tumbled out of it into the room. The large splash caused a wave that forced Sean closer to the door. The water level rose so high that the Doorman was underwater now. Sean could barely see that he had gone still on his side, but his mouth was open in the hopes of draining out the room.

Sean thought about diving to try swimming out, until something colorful slammed into the door and screamed out in a panic. "Let me out of here!" The door suddenly opened, and Sean screamed as the water rushed forth. Sean thought he was going to die as the water gushed out across the stone bridge. To his shock, someone snatched the bottle and shoved him inside it! Sean screamed, putting his hands to the inside of the glass to look out as best he could. It was hard to see much of anything as the bottle was jostled around though. However, it looked like a fish with a rainbow tail had grabbed him! The person hit the side of the bridge, trying desperately to cling to it as it screamed out. "No, no, no, no! AH!" The stone bridge was too wet, causing the person to lose their grip on the little stone wall. Forcing them to fall into the large ocean of water below! The person burst up to the surface of the water with him, thrashing in a panic as he yelled out. "Help! Get me out! I'm scared of the water!" Sean spit sea water over the edge of the bottle as it floated on the surface, yelling back in a tiny voice. "What?! How can you be scared of the water?! You're a merman!" The merman stopped thrashing to glare at him, upon hissing out. "Listen, Shrimp! You don't know what could be swimming in here with us! I'm a land fish! I had a nice beach until you fucked everything up!"

Sean coughed, about to ask why the merman had saved him. When a large dark shadow crept up on them and blocked out the light of the moon. The merman hissed aggressively at the dark shadow, then tried to flee. Sean only just looked up to see a net being tossed over from a large pirate ship. Sean dropped back into the safety of the bottle, his bottle slipping through the holes of the net as it came down over the water. It caught the merman, who apparently was also a bad swimmer on top of being a fish that was afraid of water. Sean didn't care and was almost thankful, until the merman reached through one of the holes in the net to snatch his bottle, plugging the open top with his thumb. Sean screamed, frantically moving around the bottle as the net was reeled up and onto the ship. He didn't know what the merman wanted with him, but he didn't want to be his last meal! To Be Continued...
