Chapter Thirty-Three: "Speed Is Key"

Sean wrapped his arms tightly around Bing's waist, unsure how to feel. Was Bing as good as Illinois thought he was? He could only hope that he wasn't just a blow hard. Bing revved the engine, then drifted over as Googleplier merged into the lane. Surging forward past a normal car on the road, Bing lazily looked into the rearview mirror to see Googleplier passing the car and shifting gears to catch up with them. Sean glanced back, shouting over the music blasting in Bing's headphones. "Can you go faster?!" Bing smirked over his shoulder, telling him calmly. "Relax. We haven't even reached the speedway yet. He's going to get gridlocked in this traffic." Sean glared at Bing, anxiously shouting out. "And we won't?! Bing-" Sean was cut off by Googleplier's car slamming into the back of the bike. Sean screamed as the bike skidded but Bing easily shifted his weight to keep the bike up long enough to slip into another lane. The bike moved right between two cars with no issue, causing Google to brake before he hit the cars. Adjusting more comfortably on his bike, Bing chuckled back to Sean swiftly. "There is a reason that I ride a bike. Easier to get around the rules of the road."

Sean gasped as traffic started to compact at the off ramps, but Bing didn't slow down. Instead, he rode over a flashing red curb in the tunnel to race up the emergency side of the road. A screen appeared on his bike's small window shield, blinking in a bright bold yellow warning. "Warning! Warning! Emergency lane only! You don't have permission to use this lane!" Bing swiped his hand over the screen, grumbling out to himself. "Oh, fuck off." Bing sped up, whizzing by traffic like he did this all the time. Sean risked another look behind him but couldn't see Google in the sea of vehicles that were taking different exits at a decent pace. Bing tapped his fingers and hummed to his music, completely unphased by the fact that he was going well over ninety miles per hour. Sean kept his head ducked behind Bing to keep the strong wind from knocking him off the bike. As the end of the tunnel came into view, Bing popped open a compartment on the side of his bike and handed Sean a pair of goggles, telling him a little too casually. "Oh, before I forget. You should put these on if you want to keep your eyes." Sean took the goggles and struggled to pull them on, but they adjusted to his head size. The lens rotated and even adjusted to his eyes. Removing his colorblindness and tinting the neon colors to be softer on his eyes with no road glare.

They were incredible! The screen on Bing's bike started to blink again, informing him. "Warning! Speedway approaching! Engage seatbelts!" Bing scoffed, swiping the screen before bringing something up to press things on the touch screen with little hinderance to his driving. Sean winced though at how dangerous it would be for him to do this at these speeds. Yet, Bing did it so easily like he was driving at a far slower speed. Then removing his hand from the screen, he reached back to push Sean back against a backrest that wasn't there a moment ago! The backrest activated to roll out plated belts across his chest to clip to something on the seat between his legs. The belts tightened up to hold him in place, then the screen flashed out. "Warning! Engage autopilot. Engage driver seatbelt." Bing groaned, swiping the warning screen away while snapping out. "FUCK OFF! Just let me drive! Fucking backseat driving autopilot." Bing pressed a button, glancing back to chuckle out to Sean with a smirk. "I'd shut her ass off, but I'm kind of fond of her sass." Sean swallowed, watching the window screen extend and curl up over the top of the bike to connect to the backseat.

The automated bike voice then told them swiftly. "Aerodynamic arch engaged." The arch began to glow in a soft yellow neon to match the glowing yellow tire rims. Bing then told him seriously. "Hang on!" Sean grabbed the straps on his chest, watching Bing kick the tunnel wall as he yanked the front of the bike up to hop the curb and back onto the open road. The bikes shiny tires began to hum and with a hard 'click' the bike bounced like gravity had gripped the bike in a firm grip. Reaching the end of the tunnel, Sean screamed. The glossy road went into a sheer drop and veered around the city like a fucking roller coaster! Bing cheered loudly, then leaned back as the bike hit a speed strip and surged down the steep road. The people in cars around them had kids that cheered as their autopilots took full control to keep the cars in their proper lanes and timed the turns perfectly. Sean could only pray that Bing didn't kill them as the gauge climbed rapidly from ninety to well over three-hundred miles per hour. The cars and bikes were going so fast that the engines began to glow a soft blue and appeared to catch fire. Even Bing's bike started to do the same. Sean flinched as his legs were exposed to the flames... but found them to be cold and as thin as mist.

Bing didn't risk looking back at him but must have seen his reaction in the rearview mirror because he told him through the speakers on the goggle straps above his ears. "Engine coolant. Keeps the vehicles from burning up and melting at these speeds. Completely harmless." Sean nodded, then made the mistake at looking at how high up the road was from the neon city that ran deep below. The elevated roads went all around the city, and it made Sean shut his eyes as he tried to fight off his fear of heights. The road slanted, causing the bike to tilt like it was riding the wall. Whining loudly, Sean opened his eyes only for a brief second to see the depths of the massive city before shutting them in horror. Bing laughed for a moment, before suddenly saying grimly. "Shit... Here comes Google..." Sean forced his eyes open to see Google's car booking through the traffic down the steep drop off. There was no doubt in his mind that Google was going to catch them, despite them having had a lead. Shaking his head, he yelled out to Bing. "But we had a lead! HOW?!" Bing snorted, grumbling out. "Google gets all the good shit, that's why... but he has one weakness."

Sean looked at Bing with peaked interest, prompting Bing to smirk out wickedly. "He has to follow the rules of his programing. I don't. I can get away with more." Bing leaned down over his tank a bit, revving the engine more to increase his speed. Google was only a few feet behind them but couldn't lean into the sharp turns like Bing could. Google's car had to swing out wide to take the turns. Bing kept cutting turns tight to keep his lead and swerved around cars on the straightaways to keep Googleplier from cruising up on them. When the traffic thinned out on one straightaway, Googleplier's engine roared to life as the gears shifted into a higher one. Gaining on them as it tailed them. Bing glanced in the rearview mirror, watching Googleplier's car creep up on their bike as it grew in speed. Sean held his breath, unable to stop himself from calling out with worry. "Bing...?" Bing kept his eyes on the road but told him calmly. "I see him. He's going to try and knock out my tire on the turn." Sean's eyes widened as he saw the turn coming and Google was already close enough that he could do it. Bing was strangely calm though, and when the turn came, Bing leaned so far down that he dug his fingers into the road. Causing his bike to go into a hard donut! Google's car slammed into the back tire but merely helped to push the tire into the donut.

Sean's grip on the straps was so tight that he lost feeling in his hands. His emotions were so overwhelmed that he almost had fun doing that. Despite getting a little too close to Google's headlights for comfort. Bing pushed his bike back up to race up behind Googleplier's car. Shaking his hand, Bing whined out with disappointment. "Fuck! I just got these gloves!" Sean snorted, seeing how the leather fingers of the gloves were shredded to reveal his skin underneath. Frustrated, Bing revved his bike to race up beside Google's back tire and kicked the rim so hard the that the tires' rim became dented in as he yelled out bitterly to Google. "ASSHOLE!" The tire dented in so much that the tire came to a sudden squealing halt, causing Google's car to swerve on the road. Bing flipped off Google as he raced past him, muttering out sternly. "Fucking road-spam." Sean flinched as a loud 'BANG' came from behind them. Google's jammed tire blew under the pressure he put it under. Yet, it didn't stop him. Sparks flew from his blown tire as the metal grinded against the road. His car wasn't going as fast, but it was still able to keep them in sight.

Bing went back to taking sharp turns to keep his lead, muttering under his voice in a calmer tone now. "Damn, he's persistent..." Sean glanced back to see Googleplier pushing his car harder to keep up with them and it was working. Looking back to Bing, he asked him curiously. "You have a plan to shake him?" Bing shrugged, honestly replying. "I'm making it up as I go. It's the best advantage I've got." Bing leaning into the next turn, Googleplier's car squealed as it drifted roughly into the turn. Sean saw Google touching something on the dash of his car, telling Bing nervously. "Bing, he's up to something!" Bing answered snarkily without looking back. "Ya. I can see that." Sean turned his attention ahead to see flat glossy guard rails sliding out to keep cars from entering the speedway and to keep them from getting off it. Bing shook his head, asking the bike curiously as he tried to keep his bike in the lead. "CyberNateic? I could use your help." From the speakers on Sean's goggles, he heard CyberNateic answer flatly. "What do you need from me?" Bing looked up at a set of drones briefly, drawing Sean's attention to them. The drones soared over them and toward Googleplier's car.

Grabbing the back tire that was blown out, a set of drones took the weight to lift the metal off the road. While other drones worked quickly to fix the damage and change out the tire. It was an impressive pit crew. Bing shook his head, bitterly telling CyberNateic. "He's trying to hack my system... It's messing with my ability to calculate quickly... and he's herding me where he wants me to go. I could use a buffer. Something just to slow him down, or I'll never shake him." Over the speakers, Sean heard another voice chuckle out. "I'll do you one better. But you'll need to accelerate to a speed of eight-fifty exactly and take the spiral drop tight to avoid colliding with me." Bing smirked at the sound of S34N's voice, asking him as he sped up. "Others safe?" S34N's voice sounded excited when he answered. "Yep. Now let's lose this bitch!" Bing nodded, shifting his gears and heading into the downhill spiral. Sean had to lean with him to help the bike cut as close to the inside as possible, but Sean wasn't sure why he had to do this. Bing started to state out the speed he was going as the gauge climbed. Googleplier's car started to fall behind as he took the turns wide. All the onramps along the spiral were closed off, but as they passed one of the ones without any cars waiting, Sean's jaw dropped.

Someone on a sleek black bike that was thinner than Bing's with neon green lights was racing toward the guard rail. The person was practically laying across the bike with a dark aerodynamic shield over him like a protective case. The bike smashed through the glass guard rail and nearly missed slamming into the back of Bing's bike as it merged in behind him flawlessly. Bing held up a Rock & Roll hand gesture that S34N returned. As they went into the next straightaway, CyberNateic told Bing seriously. "I've taken over a truck on ramp thirty-eight. If S34N can smash the guard rail for you, you can catch up with it in the traffic there." Sean glanced back, asking curiously. "But how do we lose him?" Over the speaker, S34N told him confidently. "Leave that to me." S34N slowed his bike a bit as Googleplier drifted off the spiral and surged across the straightaway toward them. Sean held his breath as Googleplier floored it to run down S34N, until S34N's bike let out a pulse from under his bike. Googleplier's car started to sputter and jerk, while S34N told Bing over the speaker. "His firewall is down! NOW!" Bing snapped his fingers with a loud cheer and Sean watched Google's window shield flood with porn.

Sean snorted, watching S34N race back up beside them. Over the speakers, CyberNateic told them with a chuckle. "The ramp is coming up! S34N, you're up!" Sean looked to S34N; he didn't want to miss it... but S34N didn't get into position ahead of them to ram the guard rail. He stayed at their side and just winked at them. The ramp whizzed by them, and they missed it. Terror filled Sean, until he heard the sudden crash of the guard rail smashing apart before the squeal of tires and another crash. Looking back, Sean saw that Googleplier had taken the turn in his blinded state and his car crashed into a truck that was laying out new pavement and glossing it over. S34N chuckled, disengaging his window shield on the sides to high-five Bing. While over the speakers, CyberNateic commented flatly. "Oops. You weren't eavesdropping were you Googleplier? My bad. I misspoke." Sean blinked, asking perplexed. "How did you...? He was...?" Bing winked back at him, telling him coolly. "I used code and told them that he was. We've had to work around him a lot more than you have. He's not invincible... He's just an arrogant spoiled older brother. I told you. I had this. No one can piss him off like I can."

S34N chuckled out to him as the guard rails on ramps opened back up. "Loved the porn bit. Google is going to be sooo pissed trying to clean all that spam out of his system." Bing laughed heartily in return, stating back playfully. "That's what he gets for calling me a walking porn site!" Sean broke out into a fit of giggles. It was strange to think of Bingiplier as Googleplier's rebellious baby brother. Yet, he could see the family connection between the two. Bing and S34N merged into a different lane, slowing down together to take an off ramp that went into another part of town. Driving up behind a truck waiting at a red light, the back door opened, and a ramp rolled out to let them drive in. As the light turned green, the truck closed itself up and went into parking tunnel for a housing building. Sean briefly saw a similar truck drive out, but their truck turned to go down and through more tunnels below. Driving to a certain spot in the massive underground parking area, Bing and S34N dismounted their bikes and helped Sean out. They left their bikes in the truck, watching it drive off, before escorting him into a stairway. Sean hated that he'd have to walk up what looked like miles of steps, but reluctantly started up them.

When he got a few steps up and didn't hear the others following, he turned around to see S34N kissing Bing. He didn't think the two were that close. When S34N broke the kiss, Bing stroked a smudge off grease off S34N's chin. Prompting S34N to notice the shredded gloves, upon saying a bit disappointed. "Bing... I just got you those. I swear you're harder to keep closes on than a human toddler..." Bing rolled his eyes, shrugging out innocently. "Blame, Google! He won't let me have nice things! He sucks." S34N rolled his eyes, then froze up when he noticed Sean watching them. Both of them backed away from each other in shame like guilty kids. Bing then cleared his throat, telling them stoically. "We should go. Dr. Sharper's room is a few floors up." To Be Continued...
