Chapter 24 - Graveyards
Wormtail burst through the door and grabbed me by the wrists. Then he dragged me out of the room and handed me a hooded figure, a death eater. He grabbed me in a way I couldn't escape, no matter how much I tried.
Wormtail removed my wand, leaving me magic-less and left me with the death eater. We stood in silence, him holding me back while struggled to get free. Suddenly, we evaporated and before me was an ancient graveyard, like I had suspected, but the death eater had vanished. The area was mostly empty other than a statue of death and a cauldren so big it could fit a person in it.
I turned around to face the building I had been kept in for nearly a week, eating barely anything other than an old rotting apple a day that Wormtail gave me.
A loud crunch came from behind me so I spun around. Can you guess who was stood before me?
Cedric and Harry.
"You okay?" Cedric asked Harry, oblivious to me standing closely to him.
"Cedric? Harry!" I squealed and they both looked in my direction, their eyes lighting up with delight.
"Elizabeth!" Cedric called out, a tear in his eye as he ran up to me and lifted me off the floor in a soft embrace. He held me closly and placed a tender kiss on my lips, before pulling away and putting me down. Harry hugged me next, and I softly placed my head on his shoulder. After our hugs, Cedric began to speak.
"Where are we?" He asked as he pulled me close to him again.
"I've been here before." Harry muttered.
"I looked up and around the graveyard. "So have I." I mumbled, confusion across my face. I didn't realise I had been there before, but I recognised the place I was standing in from my dreams. Cedric walked back over to the cup, and he understood what had happened.
"It's a portkey. Harry, Elizabeth, the cup is a portkey." He beamed, although Harry had fear in his eyes.
"I've been here before in a dream. We need to get back to the cup. Now." Harry instructed. Cedric's smile faded as he copied my previous look of confusion.
"What are you talking about?" Cedric asked, fear spreading through his body.
Suddenly the burning pain I had felt returned and I yelled out, grabbing the scar on my neck. I wasn't the only one to feel it this time, as Harry let out a yelp and fell to his knees with his head in his hands, covering his scar.
"What is it?" Cedric asked worryingly as he rushed to our sides.
"Get back to the cup!" I demanded. Something about this graveyard was wrong. Voldemort was near, I could sence it. I at least wanted Cedric to be safe.
I looked up and saw Wormtail carrying a deformed Voldemort walking over to us, Cedric drew his wand and pointed it straight at the both of them to protect the three of us.
"Who are you? What do you want?" Cedric asked with an angry tone. "You're the one who brought Elizabeth here aren't you!" Cedric's accusation was correct. I had figured it was Voldemort who brought me here after seeing Wormtail.
"Kill the spare." Voldemort hissed, sending a shiver down my spine.
It all happened in slow motion.
Wormtail reached for his wand and pointed it at Cedric while speaking the words "Avada Kedavra." Sparks flew out of the servant's wand, hitting Cedric and sending him flying backwards.
"Cedric!" I cried out, but I was too late.
He was dead.
I felt my world fall apart around me as the death eater returned and pulled me too my feet, gripping me hardly so I couldn't get to Cedric while Wormtail grabbed Harry and pushed him backwards into the statue of death which embraced him so he also couldn't move.
"Do it now!" Voldemort snakey voice ordered, and Wormtail dropped him into the bubbling cauldren.
I couldn't focus properly, the image of Cedric's death wouldn't leave my head. It just kept replaying. I could feel the tears streaming down my face as his death replayed.
Wormtail muttered some sort of recipe while he dropped ingrediants into the cauldren. Lastly, he removed the knife he had used to slice my skin and did the same to Harry, who yelled out in excrutiating pain. I knew.
Wormtail approached the cauldren and let Harry's blood drop into it, then reached for the test tube containing my blood and poured it in.
"The dark lord shall rise again." Wormtail evilly grinned as the cauldren burst into flames. Once the flames cleared, a reformed Voldemort was left standing before us.
"My wand Wormtail." Voldemort ordered. Wormtail handed Voldemort the bone-like wand and bowed before his master. "Hold out your arm."
Again, Wormtail followed Voldemort's orders and held out his arm. He had cut off his hand to bring Voldmort back and his arm was pouring out blood. "Master. Thank you master." Wormtail beamed, but Voldemort did nothing.
"The other arm Wormtail." Wormtail's smile faded as he held out his other arm. Voldemort raised his wand and stuck it into his servant's arm. Reforming his dark mark. The sky changed to a dark, evil colour of black as death eaters filled the graveyard, standing in a circle surrounding Voldemort.
"Welcome my friends. Thirty years it's been, and yet you stand before me as though it were only yesterday. I confess myself disappointed, not one of you tried to find me." Voldemort raised his voice as he angrily slashed the masks of his followers.
"Not even you Lucius." Voldemort slashed the mask of a man with long blond hair who fell to his knees. Draco's father.
"My lord. Had I detected any sign or even a whisper of your whereabouts." He started but Voldemort interrupted.
"There were signs my friend, and more than whispers." Voldemort confirmed.
"I assure you I never renounced the old ways. The face I have been obliged to present each day since your absence, that was my true mask." Lucius told Voldemort, trying to clear his name.
"I returned." Wormtail butted in, stepping forward.
"Out of fear, not loyalty." Voldemort hissed. "Still you have proved yourself useful these past few months Wormtail." Voldemort admitted as he gave Wormtail a new hand, who was overjoyed. "Thank you master. Thank you."
Voldemort walked over to Cedric's mangled body. It was hard to look but I had to make sure he didn't do anything to him. He placed his bare foot on the side of Cedric's face, turning his face to the side, so it faced me. Cedric's eyes were still open, lifeless and empty.
"Oh, such a handsome boy." Voldemort tutted.
"Get off of him!" I screamed. "Don't touch him!" Harry joined in.
Voldemort turned to face the two of us, a broad smile plastered along his face. It sickened me that he took Cedric's life for his own.
