Chapter 22 - Prisoner

I woke up in a dark room which closely resembled my old room back at the orphanage, except no bed, just the cold hard floor. My head hurt from being knocked out, and it didn't help that I banged it on the floor I was lying on. I sat up and looked around me, but I couldn't see anything through the darkness.

There was no light in the room, so I reached down for my wand, and surprisingly it was still there. I cast the spell lumos, which lit up a small area around my wand. The first thing in the room I found was an unlit candle which was sitting in the corner of the room. I reached over and grabbed the candle, placing it in the center of the room.

"Incendio." I muttered and a flame was created from my wand which lit the candle, slightly lighting the black room.

Now that I could see the room around me properly, I noticed that the only thing in the empty room was a gigantic golden cross on the back wall. I must have been in an old abandoned church. Or a graveyard.

Then I noticed a camouflaged door and ran over to it, trying hard to open it but no luck. It was locked. I stepped back and lifted my tightly-gripped wand and whispered "Alohamora." which was an unlocking spell. A quiet click came from the door which sounded like the lock unlocking. Again, I reached for the handle and slowly turned it, this time the door creaked open. I popped my head around the door and found myself looking at an empty hallway. I turned and closed the door behind me, it was as if I was never there, other than the blazing candle I left behind.

The hallway was nearly as dark as the room, other than a strip of light that came from underneath a door at the end of the hall. I guessed that whoever kidnapped me was in that room and my instincts kicked in. I idly made my way to the light, trying to make as little noise as possible. Once I reached the door I pressed my ear against it.

"Have you seen Elizabeth?" It was Cedric.

Without a second thought I slammed the door open to face another empty room, except one of the four walls was projecting Hogwarts. It was a spell, a spell that could let you view others.

The wall showed Cedric talking to Harry, Elizabeth and Ron in one of the courtyards.

"Not since Sunday." Harry replied. "Why? Is she missing?"

How many days have I been missing?

Cedric's eyes welled up with tears and were bloodshot, his expression was a mix of frightened, sad and worried. "No ones seen her since then."

"The last time we saw her she was by Hagrids, near the forest." Hermione remembered.

"Lets go." Harry stated.

The four of them made their way across Hogwarts to Hagrid's hut, where they found no one. Just the cobble walls of the hut I had leaned against however long ago.

"She was sitting there." Hermione pointed to the exact spot I had been in last.

Cedric walked over to the wall and picked up something I couldn't quite make out. "This is hers." Cedric was looking down at a rotting rose. I had been carrying it with me when I was taken, but then it was still pretty fresh from when Cedric gave it to me.

"We better go tell Dumbledore she's missing." Harry admitted.

"Where would she go?" Ron asked.

"No where. If she's gone she's been taken." Cedric responded, he was devastated.

Hermione, Ron and Harry ran off back towards the castle, but Cedric stayed where he was. He stared at the dead rose. "I will find you. I promise. We will be together forever and always." Cedric whispered to the rose, it was the closest thing to me he had.

"Forever and always Cedric." I choked through my tears.

Then the projector cut out and Cedric disappeared, leaving behind an old broken wall. I walked up to the wall and hit it hard with my fists. All I wanted was to go home. For him to hold me and tell me everything's going to be okay.

"Well isn't this touching? Too bad you'll never see your beloved again."

I turned to face Wormtail, one of Voldemort's servants from my dreams. He was hunched over and twitching, Harry had told me he was the reason our parents were dead. He was the reason our godfather Sirius Black was known as a murderer, when he did nothing wrong.

"Let me see him again! Let me see Cedric!" I demanded, pulling my want to his face.

Before I had the chance to do anything the searing pain returned, I dropped my wand and fell to my knees, my hands clenched against my neck. I looked up at Wormtail through soggy eyes and watched him peel a sliver knife from his pocket with a creepy piercing smile upon his face. In his other hand he held a small test tube, I searched for my wand but his foot was tightly clamped on top of it.

He grabbed me by the wrist with the hand he was using to hold the test tube and slowly scraped the knife along my skin, peeling it open.

"STOP IT!" I screamed, my arm burned as much as my neck did, but the pain just increased. Wormtail released my arm and I fell to the floor, feeling weak and powerless. He let my blood drip into the test tube then screwed the lid on it to conceal my blood. The servant left me in the room, locking the door behind him.

I laid on my back for a bit the pain still surging through me, my blood dripping on the floor. Cedric reappeared on the wall and I used my energy to face him. He was sat motionless in the spot I had kissed him in, staring out into the empty lake. I reached out for him, knowing he couldn't see me. It killed me inside seeing him so upset, knowing I couldn't comfort him and let him know that I was okay. I would have rather died than watch him sit there, looking nothing like himself. So alone, and so empty.
