I wake up next to my mother's stomach and beside my littermates. Riverkit's tiny paws curled up under her and her tabby head pressed to my brother's flank. My bother, Quickkit, as sprawled out on the mossy nest. I purr as he twitches in his sleep. My brown tabby mother was awake and eating a thin mouse. I squeeze next to her shoulder," Why is the mouse so thin?" My mother jumps at my voice, but calms down after she sees its me. She sighed," Hollowfight caught it near the waterfall. He knows that there's only fat rabbits there! But now that the wolfs are there..." Harefur's eyes cloud over for a second, but brightens up again," Wolfkit, how about you go give Hollowfight a talk about where to catch prey?" I prick my ears with excitement," Please!" Harefur nods and gives me permission to go outside. I scramble up and hurry past the other queens. Jayflower stirs as I step on her tail," What in Starclan are you doing up?" I dip my head to her," Harefur said I could go talk to Hollowfight. Sorry I stepped on your tail." The grey she-cat grunts and closes her jay blue eyes. I carry on walking, being more careful, to the entrance. I push through the branches and into the clearing. The camp was big enough for our small clan. The drop that protected us from the rain usually casted a shadow on the camp, but since it was cloudy today the camp was a sad grey color. I let the cold seep into my fur. Mistclan cats are used to the cold because we live near a waterfall. I've never saw it, but I've heard it's beautiful. I shake out of my trance and walk to the warriors den. The deep cave was mingled with scents. I try to scent Hollowfight, but I haven't memorized his scent. I call instead," Is Hollowfight in there?" I hear a gruff meow," He's supposed to be in Wishnose's den. He got a rock stuck in his paw." I recognize the voice of Nightlock," Thank you, Nightlock!" All I get for a response is a grunt. The sun was just above the horizon as I head to the other side of camp into a big, hollow log. I see a light brown tabby asleep in her nest. Her name was Sweetpaw and she was the medicine cat apprentice, but was about to be made the full medicine cat. I gently shake the she-cat," Sweetpaw? Wake up sleepy head!" The tabby lifted her head," What in Starclan is so important, Wolfkit?" I purr at the apprentice," It's morning! Wake up!" Sweetpaw grunts and lifts herself up into a seating position. She washes the sleep from her eyes while muttering to herself," Stupid kits! No respect for older clanmates!" I shrug and paw at her tail. Her green eyes snapped to me," Get your paws off my tail! I'm glad I'm not going to have kits! Such a pain!" She washes her chest." You used to be a kit! I bet you were a pain! We all know you still are." I retort. I turn tail as the tabby snapped at me. I run to the other end of the den where Wishnose was treating Hollowfight," Hey, Wishnose! How's the patient?" Wishnose smiles beautifully at me," He's doing okay, but he can't keep his jaws shut!" I glare at the tom. He opened his mouth to protest, but I took the chance to stuff it with moss. He gags a little, but it wasn't choking him. I smile," Now you got to listen to me! Now, I heard you went hunting near the waterfall..."

  I pounce at my brother. We was playing battle after I had dealt with Hollowfight. He had went back to his warrior duties while my littermates had woke up. We are pretending that I'm clan leader while Quickkit is a rouge and Riverkit is my deputy who is being attacked by Waterkit. The other kits are playing moss-ball. All but Snowkit. She was half deaf so all the kits outcasted her.
   "I, Wolfstar, leader of Waterclan, call upon my super strength to squeeze this rouge! What are your last words, scum?" Quickkit struggled under my weight," I will come back and haunt you forever, Wolfstar!" I pawed his neck, pretending to give the death blow. He lays still. I get off of him and look at his face," That's what scums deserve!" I walk to Riverkit," Riverheart! The leader is dead!" Waterkit gasped and ran over to Quickkit and licked his cheek," Wake up! No! Scar! Don't leave me!" She fake grieved over her fallen leader. Jayflower came out of the nursery and sat beside Lightsong," These kits have interesting imaginations." Lightsong meowed an agreement. Ravenkit looked up from his frog and looked at us, but something was wrong. His eyes were clouded and his mouth hung. He's shoulders twitched violently. I gasped as Ravenkit collapsed," Ravenkit!" Lightsong ran to her kit and yowled," Wishnose!" The tabby came over quickly and picked up the unconscious kit. She carried him to her den and disappeared. My siblings and I stood there dumbfounded. Lightsong, Snowkit and Stepkit followed the medicine cat. Harefur herded us into the nursery, but not before we saw Midnightstar, Ravenkit's father, running to the medicine den.
****                                             The next morning was brighter. We all woke up early and raced outside, wanting to see about Ravenkit. Midnightstar padded out of the medicine den and jumped on the HighStump," Will all cats old enough to travel to the waterfall gather under the HighStump for a clan meeting!" He yowled even though half of the clan was already there. The last of the clan members gathered," As you all know, my son Ravenkit fainted yesterday. Wishnose said that he has been poisoned with night-berries. Not enough to kill him, but it has damaged him. He will be in the medicine den for a moon or more." The clan broke out in whispers. Ravenkit and his littermates are being made apprentices in less than a moon! Midnightstar cleared his throat and the clan fell silent," I would like anyone who knows anything about this, please come to the DeadRiver at sun-high." He dipped his head and jumped down from the stump. The clan broke off into their little groups. Smokekit walks up to me," I can't believe it! Who do you think done it?" I shrugged. He sits heavily beside me," Well, Midnightstar will figure it out." I nod. I smile wickedly at Smokekit," Wanna go bug some warriors?" His eyes brighten. I set off with the smoky tom on my heals. We reach the other side of camp and say to Vipertail," Hi! I'm Wolfkit and this is Smokekit! You're Vipertail, right?" The ginger and white she-cat nodded," You're Jayflower's kit right?" Smokekit nods energetically. She looks at my eyes carefully," And you're Pebblestep's." I tilt my head and Stonegaze, who was eavesdropping, comes over quickly," That's mine and Harefur's kit." He tells Vipertail. The tabby tilts her head," But-" Mountainscar, the deputy, calls," Vipertail! You're leading a hunting patrol at sun-high! Or are you going to DeadRiver?" Vipertail shakes her head and walks off. Stonegaze looks at me closely," What're you kits doing here?" I smile brightly," We wanted to see what warriors do!" Suddenly, a dark grey cat walked up to us," Hello, son. So you want to learn about being a warrior?" We both nod eagerly. Crowfang sits," When you're a warrior, you must follow the leaders orders. The Code states,'The leader's word is law.' So if you disobey the leader, you disobey Starclan. If you disobey Starclan, then you go to the Black Forest. Cats that are evil go there." Smokekit interrupted," Do you know any cats that went to the Black Forest?" Crowfang nodded," Olivespeck. He was a warrior who tried to kill the medicine cat. He was my kin." Smokekit and I gasp, but before we could comment Harefur called to us," Come kits! Nighttime!" We moan and whine as we walk to the nursery. We say our goodnights and curl up. I settle down beside Riverkit and I place one paw on my nose.
I open my eyes and I'm in a starry clearing. This place was beautiful and calm. A silver cat walked out of the ferns," Hello, Wolfkit. I'm Pebblestep." I place a paw before myself and bow down," Hello, Pebblestep. What must StarClan want?" The tabby chuckled," Stand up. StarClan doesn't need anything. I just wanted to see you." I obey her and look at her confused. Her eyes flash with pain," There's something you must know, but I don't know if you're ready." I nod," I am prepared for whatever you say." Pebblestep looks at me," Stonegaze....."
