The Hogwarts Times
September 2, 1971
The students of Hogwarts enjoyed a great back-to-school feast made by the talented House Elves last night. One big source of drama was the fact that Sirius Black, heir of the Black family, was the first of the entire line to be sorted Gryffindor! History was made, ladies and gentlemen. Each house got a handful of new fisties, though I've heard from Angela Green, Gryffindor perfect, that though the Gryffindor first years are few this year, they show promise of causing trouble! Be safe and stay away from the new Whomping Willow! Remember that the Forbidden Forest is indeed forbidden, along with a list of Zonkos products as found on page 3, as well as nailed to Mr. Filch's door. Have a wonderful start of term and get good grades this year!

Greetings students of Hogwarts! Be sure to study hard this term, especially OWL and NEWT students. Also, enjoy time outdoors as fall turns into winter. Quidditch season is starting up and houses are holding try outs. Ravenclaw house has a new Quidditch captain, Don Chang. The Hufflepuff team also has a new captain...

As we are starting a new month of the term, I would first like to reflect on the last one. There was a prank pulled at the Halloween feast last evening and I have a strong suspicious as to who charmed Dumbledore to speak in Garbledegook for his speech, but in the name of keeping ahead of Slytherin for the House Cup, I will keep this information to myself.

It is almost time for holidays and Slytherin is in the lead for the House Cup! Ravenclaw is not far behind, so Slytherins keep up the hard work! Hufflepuff is in third and Gryffindor is in last place. I suspect that this is strongly the fault of a certain group of trouble causing Gryffindors who cannot seem to refrain from pranking other Slytherin first years! Regardless, enjoy the Christmas Holidays and when you all return it will be the start of 1972!

As the school year is coming to an end, make sure you are all studying hard for your exams! Farewell to the graduating seventh years, we at Hogwarts wish you all the very best in your futures. And we wish returning students to have a fantastic summer holiday.

SECOND YEAR
+++
The Hogwarts Times
September 3, 1972
Good day, Hogwarts. I'm writing to tell you all that the prank those second years pulled yesterday was bloody awesome (the teachers don't read these, do they?). I mean, sticking the entire Slytherin house to there seats after dinner? I'm inspired and impressed, but don't tell anyone because I'm a prefect. Well...this is going in the school paper, so I guess I've already...you know what, just keep doing what your doing second-ies—that doesn't sound right. The four of you need a name. Anyway, starting this year fresh, study hard and all that.

I have been informed by a trusty source that the group of mischievous second years have indeed come up with a name. They call themselves the Marauders, and if that doesn't fit, I don't know what will. Anyway, Gryffindor beat Hufflepuff in yesterday's Quidditch match! Woohoo!

If the 'Marauders' could kindly refrain from pranking the Slytherins every day, it would be much appreciated. Or else the little runts will get what's coming for them.

Professor Sprout has asked me to write this month's issue on the matter at hand. She has asked me to address the prank war taking place between Gryffindor and Slytherin and asks that you please tone it down a notch.

On behalf of all Ravenclaws and other studious witches and wizards, I ask the Marauders to please avoid bothering Lupin in the library, as you are bothering the rest of us as well. Thank you.

The day has come, folks. Tomorrow is the match between Gryffindor and Hufflepuff! James Potter (chaser) and Sirius Black (beater) have both made the team(also known as the Marauders, see page 4), though Potter debuted last year and we are in for a treat. I expect a clean win and many festivities in the common room, no alcohol Professor McGonagall, scout's honor.

Hufflepuff won the House Cup! I'm so proud of us! I thought we would lose to Gryffindor for awhile because they were having a wonderful Quidditch season, but who am I kidding? The amount of detentions those Marauders have got really tips the scales in terms of house points.

FOURTH YEAR
+++
The Hogwarts Times
September 10, 1974
Is it just me or is anyone else a little concerned that the Marauders are in their fourth year? They are bound to be learning better spells to aid in their mischief making. Merlin help us all. Oh, and also, have a great term, I guess. And remember to steer clear of the Whomping Willow.

Yes I am aware that it is Sirius Black's fifteenth birthday and that the prank pulled this morning was a birthday present. But seriously (don't you dare, Black) be more mature! Enough hexing the Slytherins! And also, how many times is James Potter going to stand on his house table and profess his love for Lily Evans before he takes a hint and realizes she doesn't like him back!
Written by: Samantha King, Slytherin Prefect.

The Hogwarts Times

The whole entire school knows it is Lily Evans's birthday today because James Potter felt it to be a brilliant idea to embarrass her in front of the whole school and sing happy birthday (terribly out of key, might I add). Also, is Sirius Black dating Marlene McKinnon? She says they are, but I haven't any evidence to back up this rumor.

Despite a promising lead in the Quidditch match against Ravenclaw yesterday, the Ravenclaw seeker caught the snitch and won the match. Gryffindor is now dealing with the loss, as well as the scary fall James Potter took from his broom when he was hit by a stray bludger. Sirius Black was adamant in his claim that Severus Snape, a fourth year Slytherin and rival of the Marauders, charmed the bludger from the stands, but there is no evidence to back up this rumor.

FIFTH YEAR

Merlin help us all, they've got a man on the inside! I've just been informed that the Gryffindor male prefect for the fifth years is non other than Remus Lupin, the voice of reason of the group of Marauders (some argue he is the mastermind behind all pranks, but there is no evidence to back up this rumor, see page 2).

Since the pranks have not stopped, we Slytherins have had enough. In light of the confusion surrounding the Marauders, we'd like to clear up some confusion. Sirius Black hasn't been seen with any girlfriends yet this year and, rumor has it, Sirius Black is gay!

I will kindly respond to yesterday's comment that Creselda Bliss keep her ungodly nose out of other people's business. The rumors are just that, rumors and it is rude and disrespectful to be a bully. I expected more from a prefect. Thank you for your time.

I think it goes without saying that yesterday's prank was over the top. I'm not surprised that Gryffindor lost so many House Points in such a short amount of time that they are now dead last for the House Cup. Good news is that Ravenclaw is now in the lead!

Slytherin won the last Quidditch game of the season against Gryffindor, James Potter (Gryffindor captain) was not happy! But unfortunately, Ravenclaw won the House Cup as they had more points. Welcome back for another year at Hogwarts! Remember to stay away from the Forbidden Forest and the Whomping Willow. Also, Mr. Filch would like to remind a certain group of seventh year Gryffindors to reread the list of forbidden items that is posted on his door. On another note, JAMES POTTER WAS NAMED HEAD BOY?! What? Congrats, anyway, we hope you make Gryffindor proud. Also, Lily Evans was named Head Girl! That's two for Gryffindor!!! And on another note, JAMES AND LILY ARE DATING!!! There wasn't previously a chance to discuss this, but the Marauders pulled one of their infamous Christmas pranks before holiday, just thought it should be in the records. Gryffindor won the match against Slytherin! James Potter: the greatest Quidditch captain Hogwarts has ever seen! Gryffindor also won the House Cup this year! This is history in the making! The first time Gryffindor won the House Cup since the Marauders were in school! It's a miracle, really. On another, maybe even better note, James Potter proposed to Lily Evans after the match!!! AND SHE SAID YES! To all students, have a wonderful summer and come back next year prepared to work hard. And to our beloved seventh years, we wish you the very best in your lives beyond school.
