Year: Sixth

Words: 2,261

**Also, small Remmy here. As much as I love tall skinny lanky Remus he's cute and tiny here :)

-

It was a few days after the full moon that thankfully decided to come the day after Sirius' birthday and not on it. As always, James, Sirius, and Peter joined him.

The next morning was a cluster of chaos. Some small pudgy boy named Nathan Bellostern got whacked by the whomping willow early that morning. When Madam Pomfrey came down to collect Remus she found him passed out by the base of the tree with harsh red lines lining his stomach.

So Remus had to wait in the shack longer than usual while Madam Pomfrey took the boy back to the school.

Of course, Sirius being Sirius refused to leave him. James and Peter went to go find McGonagall and left the two of them alone.

As soon as the two boys left Sirius guided Remus' head to his lap and gently carded his fingers through his sweaty tawny hair, leaning down to place a kiss on his forehead. Remus whimpered in pain. Last night must have been bad, though he couldn't clearly remember it. He couldn't feel that any part of his body that wasn't in pain.

Sirius' heart ached to see the boy he loved more than life itself in so much pain. Last night they went to leave the shack as they usually did but this time Remus tried to escape for Hogsmeade and almost succeeded so there was a lot of tackling and nipping to get him back into the shack.

"I'm so sorry, Moons," Sirius murmured sadly. Remus tried to shake his head but winced painfully. "N-not your fa-ult," the weak boy croaked out.

It was a few minutes before James and Peter came back, Sirius spending the time comforting his boy and whispering sweet nothings. James and Peter didn't think much of Remus' head in Sirius' lap, obviously more concerned about his wellbeing.

McGonagall on the other hand knew- Minnie always knows- but didn't say anything and instead tutted. "I'm sorry Mr. Lupin. I told Poppy to leave the boy to me but of course, we all know Poppy, she wants to help everyone."

Remus had his eyes squeezed shut to keep from whimpering again as she cast a few mending spells to at least get him to the hospital wing and let Poppy handle it from there. Remus clutched Sirius' hand tightly but the long-haired boy didn't mind at all, rubbing his thumb soothingly over his bruised knuckles.

Remus panted, enjoying the freedom of being able to breathe without the action causing a shit ton of pain.

----

Sirius held Remus' hand as the boy slept. He eagerly wanted to cuddle with him but his fear of hurting the fragile boy held him back.

James leaned against the wall, a good distance away from Sirius. Sirius was mega protective of Remus and it was even worse when it was Moon Recovery. One time Peter came into the common room with bunny ears, whiskers, and huge white feet that were stuck together so he was hopping. It was severely horrifying and James hoped to never be on the receiving end of one.

Everyone knew that Remus and Sirius had something special. Sirius and James of course were always together and pulling pranks that'll most likely get them killed one day but Sirius and Remus were different. Sirius is hella protective- we've covered that most who mess with him have a chance of not seeing daylight for at least three days, maybe six if it's right after the moon- but they always comforted each other. When it came to comforting James wasn't the best on how to get a boy to stop crying or calm down. He was a natural when it came to girls, but the other sex wasn't his strong suit. Remus often had breakdowns or nightmares at night back to when he still lived with his abusive father but Sirius was always there to calm him down. When Sirius would get nasty howlers from his mother or have a fight with Regulus- who he was getting quite close to now- Remus knew exactly how to comfort him.

It was no secret that there was obviously something between them. Just what was the question. After all, Sirius was such a ladies' man and Remus had a thing for being a great best friend to a ton of girls. He wasn't the greatest when it came to crying girls but he was decent at being good company.

James cleared his throat a little to get his best mate's attention. Sirius looked up at him and chuckled. "Grab a chair and sit wanker. I won't curse you."

James sighed with relief and grabbed a chair. He was pretty confident his magical skill could avoid getting cursed by the other male but the Blacks didn't seem the type to teach their children happy sunshine spells. God knows the things Sirius could be capable of doing.

James watched with fascination as the eldest Black brother pried open Remus' hand that was unintentionally clenched into a fist and slipped his hand into it, threading their fingers together. It was as if Remus held back in his sleep.

The boy shook his head and messed up his hair like he does every ten minutes. "You two are so oddly close that it's fascinating."

Sirius just smiled a bit. My moony.

-----

It was about two hours later when Remus woke. The boy was normally a light sleeper because his sensitive werewolf hearing somehow managed to hear Peeves stuffing stale chunks of bread up the noses of sleeping house-elves on the other side of the castle so it always took forever to fall asleep. Though after the moon it seemed like he could sleep for a good twenty years.

James and Peter went down to the kitchens to get some sandwiches as they missed lunch which Peter wasn't the most joyful about (and James smacked him on the back of the head, not wanting to ask Lily the countercurse for another one of Sirius' horrid curses and risk getting cursed himself by the feisty redhead).

Sirius let them go without a fuss- just wanting to be alone with his boy for a few moments before they got back. Though he did think about how hilarious it would be to see James with purple pimples again.

Sirius pulled his chair closer to Remus' hospital bed giving his hand a soft squeeze. Remus stirred slightly and blinked slightly, reaching up to rub the sleep out of his eyes.

The taller male smiled. "Hiya bub. Okay?"

Remus looked delighted to hear the voice of his boyfriend. He nodded a little, still a bit dozy, and tried to sit up.

Sirius immediately reached over to help him sit up properly. Remus snorted. "Stop being so polite. I like the goofy I-don't-give-a-damn-if-you-don't-like-my-stylish-neon-pink-boots Sirius."

The long-haired male grinned sheepishly, squishing into the tiny bed next to Remus, though it was fine since Remus was small enough and fit perfectly into his side.

They laid in comfortable silence for a moment. Remus, after getting a few long hours of sleep wasn't very tired, so he traced the tattoos that peaked from under Sirius' school shirt even though they didn't end up going to lessons that day. Sirius watched fondly, wondering how he got so lucky to have such a sweet angel as his boyfriend.

----

James and Sirius sat on the vibrant red couches in the buzzing and busy common room. Peter watched the pair of them as they tossed around some kind of sweets, trying to catch it in their mouths.

Remus sat close to them with Lily, Marlene, Dorcas, and Mary, trying to catch up on some homework that he missed the day he spent in the hospital wing. Thankfully Lily knew about his furry little problem- as James and Sirius like to call it- so she took the liberty of doing most of their workload for him which the small boy had appreciated her profusely for.

Around thirty minutes later Remus finished the remaining work and helped Lily and Mary with their's, not even bothering to pay attention to Marlene and Dorcas who were happily kissing instead of working on the late essays they had due.

Remus glanced at Sirius and James. "Hey Prongs, finish that astrology chart?"

James scrunched up his nose in thought. "Uh, think I burned it last night while trying to get Wormtail's muggle wooden stick to put out the fire."

"It's a pencil," Peter huffed, "and has absolutely no magical elements."

"Bullshit," Sirius grinned, "it has magical elements if we make it have magical elements."

Remus laughed lightly and shook his head. He went over to the couch and sat next to Sirius, pulling a book onto his lap. "You're such an idiot."

Sirius laid his head on Remus' shoulder and spoke quietly so only he could hear, "your idiot though."

Remus hummed in agreement, opening the book. "My idiot."

Sirius placed a soft peck to his jaw and wrapped an arm around his waist to pull him closer while continuing his conversation with Lily. The two of them seemed to get more friendly since they were both close to Remus. Remus was secretly grateful for that.

The tawny-haired boy read his book in peace, not noticing the odd quietness of the common room. It was still fairly loud, but just slightly quieter.

Sirius thumbed at Remus' side softly, he was always soft with Remus.

It only went dead silent when Sirius took Remus' chin between his two fingers, bringing the boy's vibrant amber gaze (with flecks of yellow from the Lycanthropy) from the book to Sirius' shimmering silver eyes.

Remus giggled lightly. "Hello."

Sirius smiled widely. "Hi bub."

Remus blushed a dark shade of red and tried to look down to hide it but soft and slightly chapped lips met his smooth and plump ones. Not expecting this Remus jumped a bit but kissed back happily and gently when he knew they were the lips that belonged to Sirius.

Remus pulled back first, suddenly remembering where they were. He rolled his eyes. "What a way to come out."

The grin never left Sirius' face. "Yep," he said, popping the 'p'.

It was still oddly silent in the common room. Some girls looked awfully upset- probably because Sirius just kissed a male which leaves them with little to no chance- while others looked immensely proud such as Lily and the remaining marauders.

Oh, and of course the lesbians.

James reached his hand over to Lily who sighed and placed three galleons in the palm of it. James smirked in accomplishment, slipping the coins into his pocket.

Sirius snorted. "Did you seriously bet on us?"

"I said you'd come out within a month and this idiot said two months," Lily said, sounding annoyed and amused at the same time.

Remus laughed and buried his face into the crook of Sirius', a light blush scattered over his cheeks. Sirius pressed a kiss to his head and pulled him closer.

By the time breakfast rolled around the next morning, the news has reached every pupil at Hogwarts.

"This place really needs a newsletter," James chuckled when the two lovebirds sat across from him and Peter.

Sirius was quick to agree, filling up his plate. He kissed Remus' temple then dived into a conversation with James about Quidditch while Remus was attacked with questions by the surrounding group of excited girls.

"You're so lucky! How did you manage to get him to love you?!"

"Can you tell him that I'll be here if he decides he doesn't want you?"

"Is sex with him as good as it sounds?"

Remus got a bit upset at that one. He wasn't ready yet and Sirius respected that but it seemed like these girls didn't understand.

"Oi," Lily snapped, sitting down on the opposite side of Remus. "Fuck off the lot of you, can't you see he doesn't want to answer your questions?"

They immediately shushed after that. Everyone was afraid of Lily Evans.

"Thanks," Remus breathed out. Lily smiled.

----

A few days later the news had finally settled in and it wasn't as chaotic at Hogwarts, but there were a few girls here and there that tried to flirt with Sirius.

Sirius just flipped them off before they could even open their mouths.

The Slytherins- mostly the blacks- wasn't okay with this but Regulus was and occasionally came to hang out with the Marauders, which made Sirius very happy.

Now Gryffindor just won a match against Slytherin and a party was being held in the common room but Sirius preferred to sneak off with Remus instead of hanging out there.

Remus sat against the marauders' favorite tree by the lake, Sirius' head in his lap and eyes closed. The werewolf threaded his fingers through his silky black curls, weaving flowers into the braid he made. They talked and laughed about jokes and pranks they've pulled so far, while also basking in the moment they got alone.

"I love you, Rem," Sirius murmured suddenly, opening his eyes and smiling softly up at the amber-eyed boy.

Remus returned the gesture and leaned down, connecting their lips together in a sweet soft kiss. "I love you too, Siri."

This was slightly shitty, but I think it turned out fine :)
