Matthew was the first Wolfenteer in "A House Closer to Death" to be designed as a Flicker OC (not including Marien, who was not planned to be a Wolfenteer at the time). His original name was Matt, but I refer to him as Matthew as to not cause confusion with the legacy character Matt. He also had a bandana in his earlier designs, which I think is just a fun piece of trivia.

Matthew Algernon is a very strong yet seemingly monotone character on the surface. He claims to not care about anyone around him when that couldn't be any farther from the truth. Multiple incidents broke his old friendships apart, and he's more than determined to not let that happen again to his new friends. In the "Honeycomb" timeline, he gains a career as a bodybuilding coach.

In the canon timeline, he ends up being the only survivor of his friend group and is all alone again. He takes the deaths of his friends hard, moving away to a small community to seclude himself from the rest of the world. Jo eventually ends up finding him to get more information on the Flicker games, but other than that no one has reached out to him.

Matthew's old friend group consisted of Marien, Gaia, Kyric, Seryy, and Tangerine, Kyric being his best friend.  After losing them, he joins up with Joseph, Duke, Villy, and Lyrai.

Matthew is both Aromantic and Asexual, which he jokes about a lot since many people have tried to hit on him in the past. He also has a raspy voice and slightly severe asthma from his mother smoking indoors around him.
