Joseph is one of the first characters in "A House Closer to Death" to ever be created with a full purpose in mind. Not only that, but he is the second character in the series (excluding actual Flicker characters) to be drawn by me. I came up with the concept of him around April-May of 2020, and his first public debut was on the Flicker Amino around that same time.

Joseph Armstrong is a somewhat awkward yet smart and strong-willed person, being the straight-A kid throughout his elementary and middle school years and only breaking this streak in his early highschool years when he suffered a long and severe depressive episode.  To help cope with this, he grew a passion for writing books and even wrote in a journal about his day to day life.  In the "Honeycomb" timeline, he keeps this passion with him as he goes to college to become a professional writer.

In the canon timeline, however, Joseph ends up dying at 18 at the hands of the Game-makers.  Even after he gets stuck in the Void and is unable to have a peaceful afterlife, he still continues to push his limits and is ultimately the reason why the games of Flicker ended.

Joseph is Jo and Nave's older brother, though he doesn't get to meet them for a long time in the canon timeline.  His friend group consists of Duke, Matthew, Villy, and Lyrai, Duke being his best and childhood friend.  He also owns a Golden Retriever dog named Buddy.

Joseph has protan colorblindness, as his mother is a carrier and his father has colorblindness as well.  He is also trans masc, and his insecurity of his gender identity is what initially started his depressive episode mentioned earlier.
