Going Back
Zelda
"Maggie..."
Maggie...
I gasped, clutching my stomach.
"She was my nanny!! I thought she left me!"
"Your nanny?"
I nodded, "She was so good to me. I thought she found other employment and Father told me she'd left because I was a terrible child."
"What a guy.." Carver said, coming up behind us, "We need to go. I feel something watching us. I have felt it for a while, but I thought it might just be the trolls and orcs looking for a feast. I doubt it is—they wouldn't be this close, even for a bounty."
Zane nodded, "I won't lie. I have felt it all day."
"You didn't tell me?!" I sobbed, "My mom...my.."
"Yes, pet..." Zane held me closer to him, "This makes sense with your vampiric abilities."
"Or lack of..." I cried, "I have no pictures of her—nothing."
Craig sighed, "I am sure they decided to rid her of your memory. Your father apparently had an affair with her, but your—that bitch you've called a mother—couldn't conceive. They raised you as their own and Eugene is just itching to be their son in law."
"I'm still the princess then..My father.." I turned to Zane, "Please don't do this."
"They're already coming so we're going to go to them first," Zane said as if had no say.
"When?"
"In about an hour," Zane kissed my cheek and touched my belly, "My pup will be safe here with you and the others. We will infiltrate the kingdom tonight."
Zane
She argued with me.
She was red in the face as I packed my gear and laid out plans for our attack.
We had to leave before the faire—we could wait no longer.
I didn't want it to come to that, but in the guise of night, it was our only chance.
It might start a war—or it wouldn't.
They'd have to be alright with Zelda as my mate or they'd die—it was that simple.
"You are supposed to wait until the,-"
"Can't risk it."
"ZANE!"
"DON'T TEST ME!" I yelled back, my eyes glowing. I didn't mean to hurt her—not in any capacity, but I needed her to trust me, "Pet, I love you and our child, but I can't see you die or go back to that asshole."
She settled down on the bed and watched me.
There was no going back after we made our way through the tunnels and to Crimson Fae.
"Why can't I come?"
"You have no powers."
"Use me as bait."
"And if he beats you so badly that we lose our pup? I don't think so."
"You think he's close."
"I think he's closer than we realize."
I turned my back and continued to talk to her, even though I could sense her fear and trepidation.
"I love you, Zane.."
"I love you,-" I twirled around and she was gone.
