Eugene was my fiance and he was the only one available from the noble vampire family that was next in line to be mine.

I knew that he wasn't a good man and when I tried to tell my parents about his infidelities and abuse, they brushed me off like I was nothing.

"Do not straighten my curls!"

But before i could protest anymore, I was being held down--my powers yet to come through.

These were ancient vampires and they were much stronger than me.

"I hate you! I hate you all!"

Minnie laughed, "You can get your curls back after the wedding! Hold still!"

I cried, struggling to break free, screaming for help, but no one was coming for me.

Zane POV

"What is that?"

"What is what, boss?"

I looked to Craig and frowned, "Screaming."

"I didn't hear anything."

"Someone's in dire pain."

I raced off in search of my lunas and other females in the pack, but it was not coming from them.

I was now standing at the threshold of their property.

The princess was hurting.
