Chapter 3 Welcome to the Pack
"Jay, your back!" I sound almost desperate as I run down the stairs barreling towards my friend. Tripping on the rug, I fall; expecting to fall, I cover my face, but I never hit the ground. Instead I find myself in Jay's arms. Laughing, I think of the times that we used to play princess and the prince when we were littler. Oh, how I miss those days; Jay has grown into a fine young man and I feel like that is one of the things that I don't miss. As a kid, Jay had always been scrawny and he wore glasses so, the other wolves had made fun of him and so, I stood up for him and we were best friends until, his mother and father split and he moved to the Star Pack.
Jay chuckles and I shake my head from the thoughts, running through my head. Jay handed me a bag of groceries and I find my favourite fruit in the bag. I hug him and I helped him put the groceries away. I notice something moving in his backpack as I let my wolf talk again. 'SANDI!!! Don't you EVER block me again! I was going to tell you that this is Jay, but obviously you already know.' she growls. 'Oh, be quiet; you need to learn to control yourself.' I shoot back at her, I hear her whimper in shock of me scolding her.
Jay grabs my hand and I feel that safe feeling, AGAIN!!! What is wrong with me?! Urgh I need to get a grip on myself, I can not let Jay know what I am feeling. He opens the backpack and a small, white, fluffy thing, jumps out of the bag; I jump back. Jay clearly senses that I am afraid of the fluff ball. He picks it up and is barks like a wolf, but more high pitched and it is actually kind of cute. I reach out to pet it and it licks my hand with a wet, slobbery tongue.
'Sandi, I have to tell you something," Jay said quietly. I know it is bad news, but I have to let him tell me. Nodding my consent he pointed to my wrist. I see a mark on my wrist, but it is not he mark of my old pack, the Timber Pack, instead it is a star shaped mark with a small moon in the middle. I'm guessing that the Alpha would like to have a word with me.
"Jay, is this your pack's symbol?" I ask him shyly.
"Yes," he said looking at the floor.
"Jay, I am proud to be in your pack."I say hugging him.
