Chapter 4- The Dream

Angel was walking across a dark landscape. She occasionally saw a moving shadow, but she could never reconize it. There was pure silence.

"Hello?" Angel called out to no one. She saw another shadow, but this shadow stood still. She called out again, and a soft ringing filled her ears. She shook her head back and forth, but the ringing only got louder. The shadow started to get closer. Or was it getting larger? She couldn't focus anymore, the ringing had gotten even louder.

Angel started to yelp. Her ears were filled with a ringing that was at a deafining volume. She started to howl, adding to the noise. The shadow became large. She then heard a soft, yet evil laugh.

"I see you've found your way to the Night Realm, Angel." The voice said. The ringing had stopped, which filled the empty void with silence. Who are you? Angel thought, and the strange shadow laughed again. "I'm afraid I can't say that."

Angel had no clue what was going on. The last thing she remembered was running from the hunter and crying to sleep in Arius's arms, but she now was in a dark, foreign room. Was she asleep? She didn't know anymore. "What's the Night Realm? How did I get here?" She growled st the shadow. "And who are you?"

She was suddenly knocked back with a tremendous force. She slid across the darkened floor, she felt her skin underneath her fur being scratched. It felt so real. "Don't talk to me like that." The shadow she saw she could now make out as a shape of a wolf, but she couldn't make out anything else. He put his foot on Angels body and laughed. "The Night Realm is where you can go in your dreams. You are lucky to be a roamer." He kicked Angel hard; she felt a horrible pain in her stomach. "Worthless creeps like you are making our domination over the wolf world more difficult."

He swiped with his claws, Angel yelped in pain. She could feel a fresh stream of blood run down her back. She howled, knowing she still couldn't do anything. He swiped at her face, leaving an taste of blood in her mouth. She spit it out and continued to howl. She thougt maybe if she howled, Angel could get it through to the real world and Arius could get help. She didn't consider the mysterious wolf could penetrate her mind, and two more swipes came at her face. A pool of blood covered her eyes, and she could feel the blood continue to run down her back and pool around her. "You can tell no one about what happened, let your pack die. Save yourself, maybe Arius. Or you can tell the alphas, and everyone die. Pick your poison. You have 3 days, if you even survive this."

Angel felt dizzy, but she continued to howl. "You don't get it, you fool? I'll kill you here and finish off your pack." Angel felt teeth dig into her side. She continued to howl, but everything became faint. She was scared. A warm pool of blood pooled around her, her flesh wounded. She tried to howl, but she became weak. She lay there in silence.

"You will be an Angel soon." The voice said, and he left her.

I'm going to die... Angel thought. She lay there blinded, warm blood filled her mouth and choked her.

She felt terrible. Pain everywhere in her body. She silently cried "Help." And everything went still.

"Wake up..." She heard distantly. "Come on, wake up."

She opened her eyes slightly. Faint lights lined the walls, there were multiple wolves around her. She opened her eyes a little more. She was lying on her side in the Den Hospital. Both the alphas were around her, Baylee was over getting cloths and herbs. Arius was standing over her. Angel tried to sit up, but yelped in pain and plopped back down. Baylee rushed over.

"Don't move." She ordered. "You're side it bleeding quickly, and you have a wound under your right eye." Angel felt a sharp sting and yelped, but soon a little of the pain soothed. Her wound on her back felt wet with a mixture of blood and water. Her face felt damp with blood. She couldn't see well through her right eye. She eventually felt the rag over her it. Angel sighed with relief, she wasn't dead.

"What happened?" Angel questioned a few minutes later.

"I was sleeping, and your howling woke me up. I went and told the alphas after I heard it. I mean, it wouldn't have been a big deal, but you were acting like you were in trouble. When I came back with Hope and Dontas, you had a huge gash in your side and a large cut under your eye, and you were howling louder. You woke the entire den up." Arius explained. "When we had you on the hospital bed, you were covered in blood and you went quiet. You whispered 'help' and you woke up."

Angel looked around at the four wolves watching her. Well, three; Baylee had gone to get more wet cloths. Out of no where, she started to whimper and cry. Arius soothingly whispered "it's ok."

Dontas spoke up. "Angel, you need to tell me what happened."

Hope interrupted. "She needs to rest, Dontas. Look at her. She's obviously not up for it." Angel whimpered in agreement.

Dontas nodded. "Sounds fair. We can work with one less Healer. We'll come in around Nine-"

"Ten." Hope said.

"Ten." Dontas repeated. "If you still want to tell us then, please do." Both the Alphas left the room, speaking in whispers. Only Arius and Baylee remained. Baylee continued to apply herbs and wet cloths, which subsided the pain.

"Did hunting go well yesterday?" Angel asked, wanting to break the silence.

"Yes, I got two kills."

"Really?" Angel asked wearily.

"Yeah, and the weirdest thing happened." Arius replied. "I heard a loud bang. A lot of wolves said they heard it. Did you?" But Angel didn't reply. The horrible memories flooded her mind.

"I'm tired Arius." Angel said, trying to avoid the topic. "Could you sleep in here tonight?" Arius nodded In response.

"Goodnight." He said. Angel could hear his soft breathing beside her. She yawned, but tried not to fall asleep. She didn't want to die like Wallis and the Scout. Alone.
