Chapter 21- The Evil Alplha
Everything was quiet that night. Many wolves sat in awe at what had just happened. A few of the remaining guards stared at the dead body of Miles. Arius stood next to Angel, ready to attack. Angel was lying on the ground at Arius's feet, shocked. Keighley simply looked at Miles on the ground and silently cried. Anyone else was was either sleeping or trying to calm a pup.
Angel stood up and walked over to Dontas, Arius followed. "Give up." She said.
Dontas looked back into Angel's eyes, a mischievous smile spreading across his face.
"Leave!" Arius barked.
Dontas simply smiled and began chuckling. Angel took a step closer. "Listen to me!" She said. "Give up. We won. We can defeat your guards. We defeated your boss." Keighley looked up at this. She sighed and walked over to Angel's side. "You lost, Dontas."
Dontas laughed. "So you think, but it's only the beginning of your horrors, your nightmares. The Darkness will overcome the world, we will conquer all wolf kind and then the word. No one can stop us." Angel growled. "You and your little playmates will only suffer under his wrath... He will crush your feeble bones to dust, he will boil your blood, burn your flesh. You will perish pathetically. Every single one of you!" He screamed the last part. A worried mumble spread across the crowd.
"Shut up!" Angel yelled. But Dontas ignored her.
"You may have been able to stop me!" Dontas yelled, looking at Angel, an insane look on his face. "But you had help! When the time comes, everyone you ever loved or cared for will leave you."
Angel barked and pounced on Dontas, knocking him to the ground. "None of that is true!" She yelled. "Who is your leader?" Angel said.
"I won't tell you." Dontas said with a nasty sneer. Angel responded with a swipe to the face.
"I can do this all day- er, night." Angel threatened.
"Still, not, telling! Still, not, telling!" Dontas chanted followed by an insane laugh.
"Tell me what's going on!" Angel yelled, still holding Dontas to the ground.
"OK, I will." Dontas said. "Since a pretty wolf like you really wants to know."
Angel sighed. "Arius, take over, if he's just going to make this awkward." Arius nodded and as soon as Angel go up, Arius took her place. "Now tell me what is happening." Angel said, still looking at Dontas.
"There is a prophecy." Dontas began. "That there will be three wars. The wars will be caused by the race to get three gems. The first one will be the smallest. It is for the spirit gem in the dream realm." A few wolves looked confused when he said this. "The second war will be bigger than the first. It will be for the Nature gem in the real world. The third will be large, and it will be devastating. It is the fight for your pup. Since the good won't be able to handle the strength of the gems, and it will corrupt them, the Darkness will use it to fix them."
"So the Darkness is like a group." Angel observed, and Dontas nodded.
Angel stayed silent. He looked Dontas straight in the eye. "He isn't lying." She said to Arius. "Ok, tell us who your leader is, since you completely avoided that question in the first place."
Dontas merely laughed again. "Saying his same is a sin." He said. "I would be tortured for the rest of my life. So would you."
Angel looked at Arius, back at Keighley, who both looked certain.
Angel nodded to Arius. He began digging his claws slowly into Dontas's neck. 'Tell us." Angel said. Dontas started laughing harder, seemingly ignoring the pain. "Dig harder." Angel said to Arius. He pushed into his neck a little more causing the laughing tonslow down and wheezing take its place. "Tell us already!"
"I'd rather die!" Dontas spat.
"You chose the wrong thing to say." Angel said, and she pushed Arius's claws deep into Dontas's neck, causing him to wheeze out a weak laugh.
"Glade... Will come for you..." Dontas said, and he fell limp in the snow.
Angel and Arius looked down at his dead body. Keighley came behind them and followed pursuit.
"Glade." Angel mumbled.
"We can't worry about that now." Arius said.
"I don't get it." Keighley said. "If there wasn't another pack nearby, how did we have a shortage of food?"
"Just nature." Arius replied. "We can't control that kind of stuff."
"We need to get to shelter." Angel said. "Our den is too far away."
As soon as she said this, she saw Kade, happy as ever, waddle over to her and look her in the eyes.
"Kade? What is it?" Angel asked sweetly. Kade responded by looking towards the woods. Angel looked in that direction and saw a cave. "The cave?" Angel questioned. Kade nodded and panted. "I guess we should head that way, then." Angel said. There was a murmur of agreement among the crowd and everyone began advancing towards the cave.
Everyone made it that night into the den. No one really bothered to find a good spot to sleep. Most everyone just fell and made a small pile across the room. Angel and Arius slept next to each other, Keighley not to far away. Before Angel fell asleep, she thought she felt a kick from her pup. She sighed happily and fell sound asleep.
The next morning, Angel awoke to see that everyone was up, bustling and moving. What are they doing? Angel thought to herself. She stood up and asked a by passer what was going on.
"We're all going back to our old den." He said. Angel recalled this light gray wolf being Jake, who was one of the caregivers. "Oh, and we need you and Arius to wait at the entrance. We have a surprise..." Jake said this with a smile as he walked off, bumping into Keighley and knocking her over.
"Hey! Watch where your-" Keighley stopped and looked up at the wolf above her. "I'm sorry." She said, standing up.
"It's ok." Jake said. "I'm sorry too."
"It's ok." Keighley said. They both met eyes for a moment. "Are you-"
"I am single." Jake said. Keighley smiled and walked off into the crowd with Jake at her side. Angel watched this from the enterance happily. It turned out ok for Keighley. She thought. After a few more moments, Dameon popped out of the crowd and barked. The other wolves immideately looked at Dameon, who now stood by Angel and Arius.
"Hello, everyone!" Dameon began. "I hope you all had a good nights rest. But, today, we must get going. But first, we need someone to lead us." He walked to the crowd, in the front, and said, "All hail our new Alphas, Angel and Arius!"
The crowd rang out in a cheer as Angel looked at Arius with joy. Everything had turned out great after all.
