Chapter 2
The Wolf
Link was at home until he wasn't. He was a human until he wasn't. He didn't know where he was. The field he was in was too open to be the Hyrule Field he knew. He looked around and saw some familiar landmarks in the distance, such as Death Mountain, but it was in the wrong place. Most things were wrong actually. For one thing, he was a wolf again. He didn't think that would ever happen again. He didn't really want it to.
Link's draw to adventure compelled him to explore his new environment. He wandered for a while, until he picked up on a strangely familiar scent. He decided to follow it, having no other leads and no real purpose. It was getting late, but he eventually found his target. There was a young man standing under a makeshift shelter. The man seemed to notice him, and had a weapon drawn.
As Link approached, he had a strange feeling in his gut. It was the same kind of feeling he got when he was close to the Hero's Shade or the Golden Wolf. He wondered if the young man could feel it too as he sat down in front of him to not seem as threatening. A moment passed, and an understanding seemed to be reached. Link touched the young man's hand, and he knew that he would not be harmed.
