"Do you want to go to the city?" Jace asked Julia. The day before they went to the city and Julia didn't like it at all.

'No!' Julia put her head down between her paws and looked away.

"Haha. I'm kidding. If you hate something then I will never force you to bear with it. I have to go there to get something done though."

'You go alone.'

"Do you want to go stay with Raina?"

'Stay with Raina?' Julia's tail wagged and she lifted her head.

"So, do you want to?"

'Yes! Yes!'

"Okay. Come on."

The morning air was cool unlike how it would be later in the day. Pack members were already up and about. They shouted to Jace in greetings and Jace waved back.

Julia looked around and saw that the pack was quite large, but remembered when Jace told her that it was considered the smallest and weakest pack. The way that everyone got along so well and seem so close made Julia wonder what strength is if being close wasn't it.

"Have I ever told you why I think being a small pack isn't so bad?" Jace asked.

'Everyone is close and they trust each other. No one gets left out and forgotten.' Julia remembered. It was one of their many late night conversations.

"Yep. Size doesn't matter. We are a strong pack no matter what others say."

'I like that.'

They stood at the door of Rei's house and Julia told Jace that she thought they were going to Raina's place. Actually, it turned out that Rei, Raina, and Nate lived in the same house along with Rei's older sister.

"Hello Jace and Julia! I just came back yesterday from Hawaii, but I heard all about you two." an older woman said opening the door. "Come on in."

"Oh, well I was just dropping Julia off here because I'm going out to get some stuff and she doesn't want to go with me."

"Oh! Sure thing. We'll take care of her for you."

"Okay, thanks. Bye Julia, bye Miranda."

Julia walked in and followed Miranda to the living room where Rei was asleep on the couch, Nate was reading a book and Raina was painting her nails black.

Instantly, they felt Julia's presence and looked up, including Rei who claimed to have just been resting his eyes. They greeted her and Julia went over to sit right next to Raina.

"Hey, where's Jace? Did he just leave you?" Raina asked.

Julia shook her head, as she had been told by Jace to do when she wanted to say no. She then started to sniff the nail polish and hated the stink right away.

"Do you want me to paint your nails?" Raina asked and Julia shook her head again.

"It smells bad but when it dries, the smell isn't that strong. Plus, it makes your nails look cool. Don't you think?" she showed Julia her right finger nails that she had done first.

Julia tilted her head and didn't know what to do.

"Haha, this is starting to get awkward."

Julia repeated the word in her mind and started guessing what it meant.

"It's because you are a awkward person Raina." Rei sighed and rolled off the couch on to the floor and then continued rolling towards them.

"Huh? That's not true. I'm not awkward am I? Julia?"

"She probably doesn't understand you guys." Nate muttered with his nose stuck in his book.

"Lets all have some breakfast before we talk any further about who's awkward!" Miranda shouted from the dining room.

"Okay, okay." Rei got up and walked away.

While everyone ate, Miranda talked about how awesome Hawaii was. She was four years older than Rei and them who were 18. They all seemed to respect her or maybe they were kind of scared of her. Julia couldn't decide.

"There was this huge bear I could have bought for you Rei! But if I did, I wouldn't have been able to buy me a ticket back home. Ahaha!"

"Sis..."

"What is it?" Her face seemed annoyed.

"Well, you're spitting food all over the place..."

"Is that so? hmm?" she looked at julia and smiled. "I am so sorry. Well, I cooked, now you guys clean up. I'm taking a shower."

Nate cleared the table of the dishes and put them in the sink for Raina to wash. Rei cleaned the table and then the counters.

Afterwards Rei and Nate went back to the living room to play video games and Raina decided to give Julia a bath and then took a shower. When she was done, Julia was already dry. They spent about two hours in Raina's room while she combed Julia's long gray fur and curled it.

"I can't wait until you finally turn human! We could have so much more fun!"

Julia's tail was wagging the whole time. Raina's room fascinated her because it was so bright and colorful while Raina seemed to only wear dark and dull colors.

Julia wanted to know why every one was the way they were, but she never asked Jace because she felt that it was none if her business. If only she could turn human and talk with every one else. She sometimes felt as if it wasn't fair to others that they had to do all the talking to her and Jace had to do all her talking for her.

All of a sudden, it sounded like an earthquake was happening in the room next door. Julia looked to Raina as she ran to open her door and yell for Rei.

Miranda was screaming by the time Rei opened the door to her room. It was horrible and deafening. It sounded like she was screaming from a wound that was still bleeding and hurting.

"Shhh... it's ok Randa. I'm here." Rei soothed Miranda and she sobbed on his shoulder.

"Rei! It was all happening again. Mom and dad died again. Brian, he died in front of my eyes and I lost baby Lola. And- and you were bleeding all over!"

"It's ok. I'm here for you. I'm not going anywhere."

The room was a mess and Julia saw that a box was open in the middle of it all. There were photos in there and a male's singing could be heard from inside.

I love you Miranda. Those were the last words said. Then the singing began again. Miranda covered her ears and started to rock back and forth. She didn't seem like the same person she was earlier. Rei coaxed Miranda to stand up and led her into his room then closed the door.

"The Hunter attack three years ago left a scar on everyone's heart, didn't it?" Raina looked at the wall of the living room.

"That is why a lot of members decided to leave this place. Miranda chose to come back though. After three years, she probably though that it wouldn't affect her anymore." Nate sat on the long couch for a while and then closed his eyes.

"She shouldn't have left last year in the first place. It was already too late by then."

"Are you guys bad talking my sis?" Rei came in with a smile that seemed forced.

"No..."

"Sure. It's okay, I agree with you guys." Rei tackled Nate down and buried his face into his chest.

"You're getting my shirt wet." Nate looked down at him crying and put his hand in Rei's head.

"Rei, don't cry..." Raina began to tear up. "It was three years ago..."

She managed to sound as insensitive as she always did. Rei looked up with tear filled eyes and glared at Raina.

"Geez. You always ruin the mood."

"Well this time I guess it was a good thing. she ruined your mood for crying." Nate pointed out.

"Nate, you're more insensitive than her! It's just that you don't say much. Actually that's exactly why your insensitive."

Nate lightly hit Rei's head and pushed him off. Then he walked into Rei's room and came back out with a new volume of Naruto.

Julia snuggled with Raina as she just stared off into space. Rei went over to Nate and read Naruto with him from behind his shoulder. After a while Rei and Nate had a laptop on the coffee table and Julia walked over to see what they were looking at.

"Hey, Julia, We're just reading the latest chapters of Fairy Tail online. Wanna read with us?"

"I'll read it out loud if you want."

"Aw, that's sweet of you Nate."

Julia looked over to Raina and she suddenly seemed to wake from her trance. She saw Julia looking and smiled. Then she got up from the floor and walked over to look at the laptop screen.

"What are you guys doing?" she asked.

"We're reading Fairy Tail. Hey, Nate, let's read from the beginning for these two newbs." Rei said.

Nate nodded and started reading. Soon Raina and Rei began to laugh uncontrollably not of because the the manga, but Nate read it in such a monotonous voice that they couldn't take him seriously.

Soon Miranda was awake, listening too and laughing. Being a true otaku, Nate didn't let anything stop him from reading a hundred chapters before it was time for lunch. Raina and Miranda went to the kitchen to prepare lunch while Julia sat with Nate and Rei. She was so intrigued by Fairy Tail that she just wanted Nate to read it to her all day.

Unfortunately for her, they had to eat lunch and soon after they finished, Jace came back for Julia. Julia told him all about her day including the part about Miranda.

'I wanted to comfort them a lot, but it's hard when I can't talk.'

'Yea, I know. You just have to be patient.' Jace carried a big box that covered his face so he didn't feel comfortable talking.

'Not only me. You guys be patient too...'

'Yea, we will be patient. We don't want to force or rush you to do anything.'

'Thank you.'

'No problem. I love you.'

'Love you? me?'

'Yea, I've been showing you that word ever since we met.' Jace smiled and set the box down to open the mansion door.

They walked up the stairs to the floor that the Alpha and Beta's families stayed. Jace went to Trip's door and knocked. When Trip didn't open, Jace just left the box at the door and lead Julia into their room.
