Do the Pantalans know about scavengers/humans?

Spoilers for The Poison Jungle below....

So I always assumed that the Pantalan dragons did not know about scavengers. But I was rereading TPJ and I noticed that Willow says

"'But HiveWings saw you. So they know we're not extinct. Oh, maybe no one will beleive them!' Willow said. 'It'll be like seeing ghosts or scavengers- a dramatic story to tell at parties, but no one takes them seriously. Right?'"

Ok, I know there was more than that but that was all that was important.

What led me to think that Pantalan dragons had no knowledge of scavengers was that Cricket was so suprised when she found one in The Lost Continent and called them reading monkeys.

But maybe the LeafWings are the only ones that know about them....!

Once again, no. In The Hive Queen, Sundew seems to genuinely not know what those little reading monkeys are.

But in TPJ she isn't all ".......wat........." When Willow talks about them. So it can't be just the SapWings. Or if it is, Willow just told her about them.... but then she would have known in The Hive Queen, wouldn't she? Maybe she kept it a secret. I wouldn't put it past her, but... it just seems unlikely. Nut from the way Willow says it, it seems like they are extinct or something, which still makes no sense.

Maybe it's just a plot hole. If so, that's ok!
