Chapter 3 - Family Problems ☑️
Truth looked at her mother guiltily as MistTalons growled.
"Do you even know how long I have been looking for you?!" She snarled, "Just when I thought I taught you well about how dangerous it can be to go out at night, how easily the StoneWings can spot you? I have given you warnings on top of warnings night after night and story after story, the one of little things I tell you not to do and you still do it! NOW COME INSIDE AND GET SOMETHING TO EAT. RRRG. YOU SHOULD FEEL TERRIBLE!" MistTalons stormed back into the house, dragging Swift' with her and yelling at Truth to go to her room and study for The Test.
In the small hut she could still hear them loud and clear, even when they were whispering. Her mother was making Truth a goat soup very loudly while her father was being quiet, probably waiting for mother to lose her temper...
— MistTalons —
She grabbed her husbands ear and yelled at her idiot daughter to get to her room. It was very frustrating that Truth thought that she could just woozy on out of the house in the middle of the night, the small little thing that she had told her strictly NOT TO DO. It shouldn't be this hard.
None of the other dragonets are like this! Maybe I'm just a bad parent, or she is a weird dragonet. Maybe SwiftRunner told her something, that big goat-brain! Why am I failing at parenting this hard?! I have taken lessons, I have done everything I can think of to keep my daughter safe and loved in a war, and yet she practically asks for a death wish! Mist though angrily, grabbing the raw goat while Truth eyed her fearfully, slowly dragging herself up the stairs. Swift was sitting at the kitchen table, casting a glance at her worriedly every few seconds, which bugged her but, oddly, made her less mad all the while. He had that affect on her, probably based off of his ocean blue eyes somehow, and she didn't know how or why he did. He was still very handsome, his peachy color and with bright orange, wearing his red erring that clashed perfectly with the peachy scales and wings, along with a silver ring on his talons. Her ring. She had loved that they were matching, symbolizing that they were together forever, even though death. MistTalons grabbed a bowl along with some other ingredients and got to work making the stew, running around and grabbing other stuff if necessary with speed. She loved cooking. A while passed before she started to notice the tense silence and finally began to speak.
— SwiftRunner —
Based off of the annoyed look on his wife's face, he knew that this was not going to end well. His daughter had finally done something bold and courageous, showing her strengths for surviving the battles yet to come, and MistTalons was furious. Sadly, he could see why. Truth did disobey her, giving her mother a heart attack in the process. He could imagine her train of thought about this, probably going off of my daughter is an idiot AHHH she has a death wish I should Lock her up in her room for two weeks just in case she tries to freak me out and disobey me again!!! Her panicked expression was made out of love and fear, unlike other moms. That's why I love her... he thought, then casting a glance at her. She was the best wife he could have dreamed of having, her different train of thought made it interesting to think of punishments, and made his brain push to see another angle of the story or idea.
MistTalons was still grabbing random spices and salts out of the cupboards, her gaze wondering off. I risked another glance at her and looked into her purple eyes, that were just like his daughters. They were so perfectly purple, SwiftRunner was surprised that MistTalons didn't call Truth Amethyst. Her red scales clashed in an awkward way with her eyes . She had dark red wings and underbelly along with splattered dark red scales all over her body, but mostly on her long tail. She was beautiful.
MistTalons had finally picked out the awkward tension between them and began to speak.
"What do you think her punishment should be?" She asked slowly, looking deep into his eyes. He shrugged and began drumming his talons onto the table, making a rhythm in the tense air. She grinned devilishly at him and grabbed his talons, creating the rhythm with her tail instead. Swift followed her lead, laughing. She then began to sing, her voice echoing in them small hut, moonlight coming in through the glass.
