Chapter 17 - TruthSeeker
TruthSeeker woke up to.... Darkness? She couldn't see anything. Something was brushing her eyes. She yanked her talon up to see, only for it to be yanked back. The clatter of chains worried her. Where were the others? Her mind slowly began to process that she could move her tail, so she yanked that to her face instead, feeling a soft fabric where her eyes should be. She noticed that they had tied up her spikes on her tail, but that didn't stop her from using the tip spike to puncture the fabric. A lot. It eventually gave out and fell to the floor.
Her surroundings were pretty much nothing important. She was in a cave-pit-thing with a water bowl, a rotten veggie, and a dead rabbit. The top of the pit had bars, with three small armored tails sticking out.
She knew that she could just use her magic to escape, but a small part of her told her about the last time she did that, and WaveDrift's face. Also, it would be a pretty awesome story to add to The Pile Of Awesome Things The Dragon Who Ended The Never-ending War Did.
Her though process went completely berserk after doing the 5 second work of comprehending that, going in the direction of 'Gee, I wonder why they gave me vegetables.. do they have veggies here? I don't know if they grow here or not but it would be cool if they could, also the color of that rabbit is very pretty. I wish our rabbits were like that...' and so on.
A high pitched noise came from above her and she looked up. The guards had taken off the barred ceiling and three dragons ascended. They all sat in front of her, curling in their tails. They all were also tiny.
The one in the middle spoke first in a blunt voice after chittering to the thing on his left, often glancing at me while the one on his right held up his head high with his face stuck in a forever commanding frown.
"New dragon. We are the Dragonling's, and our... powers have told us that you have... unknown magic just bouncing off of you. We require to know what you can do with it, how it works and how to... conserve it. Just know that we have powers even beyond your imagination, so don't even question how I am speaking your language."
She gave them a smug smile in return.
They don't know my powers... and they have no dragon that has Animus magic then. They're weak. The first one spoke my language.... Do they have a power each? Hopefully... I'll just guess that. The Dragonling next to him must have the power to see my powers or something... and the last one? His expression reminds me of royalty, and his tail is stuck up. He must be important, or higher in command, so he probably came here just to watch. I could get out of here easily.
"Speak, Newling!"
The one in the front barked, glaring at her now.
"And why should I?"
They spent some time gazing into her before the middle one began to speak again.
".... Pardon my manners... uhh, did you enjoy your breakfast buffet?"
They all looked over at the pitiful food pile, the commander one frowning.
"Listen, things. I can kill all of you with a simple thought. I want you all to break me out of this joint, and to treat me as you would royalty. Just know, that is a threat."
The one on the left gulped and nodded slowly.
Oh. Maybe his power is to detect lies. Better keep that in mind.
The one on the right slowly nodded, flicking his tail in a pattern. The guards at the top took off the pit bars. One swooped diwn and put a key in, allowing the chains to fall in a satisfying clink! They untied her tail spikes (with caution) and quickly flew back up, clearly fidgety.
Commander came up in front, nodding upwards. The message was clear by his expression: Get your dragons and leave. We hate you. Ugh.
She quickly flew out proudly, her wings still slightly throbbing from past events. She couldn't wait to see WaveDrift's FACE when she would walk in casually with their jaws dropped, flying away into the sunset (she had no proof that the were flying in that direction, but it looked pretty in her head.....)
