Chapter 15 - TruthSeeker

TruthSeeker woke up with a start. A throbbing pain was coming from her head as well as a terrible headache. Slowly opening her eyes, she noticed that she was no longer on the rocky beach where she had slept. She was in the air.

Flying.... Her tired Brian muttered, clearly not thinking straight. Her weight was being held by two large, almost logs, of wood. Igneous and WaveDrift were carrying her. (with Igneous looking very winded)

Wait a second.... Where are they going?.... Somewhere far away.... What's it called? Her brain was hurting more by the second of think of the name. It came as fast as it went.

Pyrrhia. We are flying towards Pyrrhia.

She immediately jumped up to try and stop them, but instead felt herself lose her balance and plummet towards the ocean. She quickly chucked her wings out (even though it hurt like heck to do so) and felt herself gliding. She was also incredibly close to puking.

A loud roar came from above her as two dragons came diving towards her. WaveDrift's roar.

"TruthSeeker! WHAT IN THE NAME OF SPIRITS WAS THAT?"

He suddenly was right next to her, looking fairly annoyed. She grinned about how upset he was with her. It was cute.

"Just me getting up. Nice to see you too..... where are you guys going? How long have I been... knocked out? Did I feint?"

She had already guessed that they were headed towards Pyrrhia, but needed an extra clarification for doing something that stupid without her. Igneous was the one who spoke up, first coughing to give off that she was going to speak.

"You've been knocked out for a month TruthSeeker. And.. uhh, we're headed towards... Pyrrhia."

Igneous glanced at her anxiously, but immediately relaxed as she saw TruthSeekers expression.

"I've always wanted to go there! Is it like a vacation? Because I've done enough drama for a while."

WaveDrift snorted.

"It's been a month Truth'. You've already had your vacation knocked out."

She sent a glare at him for breaking her cheerful atmosphere.

"Soooo..... then why are you flying to a faraway continent that has unfamiliar dragons and not knowing if they are going to kill you or not?"

WaveDrift then gave a questioning glance at Igneous, which was the worst answer that she could have hoped for.

They almost know as much as I do...

Igneous cleared throat again, making it look like she had a cold.

"........The spirits told us to?"

She sighed and noticed her rumbling stomach, noting inwardly to get something to eat later. A big something.

"You could eat WaveDrift."

Igneous murmured, like reading her thoughts. TruthSeeker snorted while WaveDrift gave them a hurtful look, letting out a small gasp.

"It's my role to be the comedian of the group Igni. Also if you were to eat me, I would 100% taste better than you, flame snorter."

Igneous then grabbed the nearest thing (which happened to be one of the logs that was carrying her less than a minute ago) and threw it at him, which he easily dodged.

They all exchanged a chuckle and continued flying in silence, each deep in their own thoughts.

Igneous looks troubled and a bit... wiser? That's not the right word. As if she had gone through something while I was knocked out. WaveDrift also looks fairly different, like he had seen something as well. He keeps looking at me like I turned into someone else. Like I had changed. Before I knocked out, what did I do? I felt... different. Like somebody else was controlling me. Like I was changing. I had used my magic. My magic. I wanted my soul as a joke to keep WaveDrift quiet. Why did I do that?.......

She let herself ramble on for a bit longer before getting to a conclusion, sort of... WaveDrift was nervous for her because she had used her magic, and Igneous.... She wasn't so sure how Igneous knew what the Spirits said, but it was probably in a dream or something.

They continued flying for another hour or two before spotting a large island in the distance. So, they quickly landed and set up a fire while WaveDrift hunted for fish. Another hour passed as they got leaves and settled for the night. It was a bit humid and extremely windy, so they tried keeping the leaves in place for a bit, but eventually giving up. They all snuggled for warmth with her in the middle, Igneous on her right and WaveDrift on her left, his wing over their bodies to keep them warm.

It was about midnight when she heard WaveDrift shuffle. She couldn't sleep with her paranoia creeping in every once and a while. This island gave her the creeps.

"WaveDrift? You up?"

She whispered, desperately hoping for a response.

"Yeah?"

She heaved a sigh of relief and snuggled closer to him. She could almost swear that he was blushing.

"This island gives me the creeps. It feels like it's watching us."

"Yeah, it does feel strange. The bushes kept rustling and birds kept flying away. It's unnatural."

"...."

"...."

"...."

"...."

"...."

"Couldn't I just, you know.... Teleport us there with my magic?"

WaveDrift shifted his head to look at me, his face deadly serious which was weird. He was usually the one with the dumb smile on his face that totally read 'I'm-up-to-no-good-but-jokes-on-you-cause-you-can't-stop-me!'. So whenever he was serious, he was serious.

"No."

She wiped her ears, thinking she must have heard wrong.

"Um. No?"

"You can't keep wasting your soul TruthSeeker. We aren't risking it. I won't let you."

"B-but it would be so much easier! And also you can't tell ME what to do! I do WHATEVER I WANT TO DO!"

WaveDrift grabbed her wrist and pulled it towards him, making them face to face, a dumb smile on his face. His dumb smile.

"If I kissed you, would you not do it?"

She blushed and did a sly grin of her own. He slowly pulled her face closer. They would lock soon....

She quickly yanked her arm out of his grip and shoved his face into the sand, laughing like a madman.

He put his head back up. A hint of reconisation and horror crossed his face but it quickly turned into a slight frown, him looking away from her

"...... WaveDrift?"

She asked, more timid than usual.

"Yeah?"

"What was... I like? In the cell?"

He took a deep breath, and she assumed that his eyes were also closed as well. He spoke slowly, as if trying to figure out the right words, unsure about what he himself was saying.

"You were... different. Your eyes glowed with something unusual, and you were turning more snappy and untamable by the day. It was getting to you. I don't think you knew how much you scared us when we broke free. You were wild. You broke the chains without even a snap, chained guards to the ground and unlocking the door without even a shove. How much of your soul you wasted for something so unnecessary. Then, right after that.... Igneous died. Though I just barely brought her back, I feel like some part of her is still up there. It's just... been a while and I've had time to think about it while both of you were recovering, and I feel as if you shouldn't-ever- use that blasted magic ever again."

She sucked in a breath, hearing that her magic should go to waste. But at the same time, it felt right.

".... Before I agree to this... can I do one last spell?"

WaveDrift looked at her in confusion but slowly nodded, looking at her anxiously.

"Last one."

"Alright. I enchant this dragons soul to be healed and to heal any spells that have made it evil, so it can never go evil and will stay the same forever, never wasting my soul if a new spell is said."

WaveDrift smiled warmly and put his body to hers so they were touching. They both then slowly went back to sleep, unintentionally comforting each other. Perhaps too much...

It's almost this stories year anniversary! Can't wait to finish it, but it's gonna be awhile, especially with school on the way....
