𝓗 prologue 𝓗
just a few things on this alternative universe before everything starts:
the boys all receive their hogwarts letter at the same time, despite them not being the same age (meaning that chenle, jisung, jaemin, jeno, renjun and donghyuck are all on their first year at hogwarts), and mark is on his second year
the story takes place in a modern era, meaning that they have phones and that they're allowed to wear something else than wizard robes (the outfits consists of wearing all black clothes with a coloured accessory to show which house they are in)
with that said, enjoy your reading! <3

"jaemin!" the loud voice of his mother called from the living room.
"i'm busy!" jaemin replied on the same tone, his eyes never leaving the video game he was playing.
"i'm sure you can pause that game and come here!" the adult argued back.
"i already told you that you can't pause an online game mom!" jaemin yelled, exasperated that his mother couldn't understand these simple things.
"too bad... i guess i'll have to open your hogwarts letter on my own!"
jaemin's eyes widened and the boy threw his controller on his bed before running to the living room, where his mother was waiting for him with a smirk plastered on her face and a letter between her fingers.
"my letter has arrived?" jaemin asked expectantly.
"i thought you couldn't pause an online game." she laughed.
"hogwarts is more important."
jaemin's mother chuckled at her son's love for the magical world.
their family was a pure blood one, slytherins since eight generations.
jaemin was the youngest in the family for the moment.
he too wanted to go to hogwarts and enter the slytherin house.
he had been waiting for this letter all summer.
and now the time had come...
"finish your game and get ready then, we're going to diagon alley to buy your stuff."

"mom, do you need water?" a worried renjun asked his mother as she was coughing violently.
"it's okay, baby." she answered. "i'm okay."
"mom, you're not..." renjun told, showing the many wires and needles connected to the woman's body.
she had been sick for two years now.
a nasty lung cancer.
renjun had been coming to see her often in the hospital.
he loved his mother too much to let her die.
"renjun, stop worrying about me. i'll be alright." she sighed, cupping her son's jaw.
renjun nodded, his eyes looking at his lap.
"have you received your letter yet?" the woman asked with a smile.
"yeah..." renjun pulled out a crumpled paper of his pocket.
"that's good. you'll see, you'll absolutely love hogwarts."
"sure..." renjun sighed.
"why aren't you happy, baby? i was the happiest person when i received my letter." renjun's mother reached for renjun's hand, but she was stopped by the wire connected to the back of her palm, where the intravenous infusion was placed.
renjun reached for her hand instead, intertwining their fingers before resting their hands on her stomach.
"i'm not very pleased by the idea of leaving you alone here, mom." renjun answered.
"i won't be alone..." she chuckled. "there are dozens of nurses there to keep me company. and your father is there also."
renjun snorted. "i'm sure he doesn't even know which hospital you are in."
"don't blame him. working at the ministry of magic isn't something easy..."
"yeah, well... he could be there a bit more for us." renjun grumbled.
"he loves you so much, renjun. it's all that matters."
renjun nodded, not really knowing what to answer.
"come on, stop frowning now." renjun's mother shook his shoulder. "come have a sit on the bed, i'll tell you about hogwarts."

"chenle, i-"
"HAVE YOU RECIEVID IT TOO?!!!"
"oh my god, yes i- "
"WAAAAAAH! THAT'S SO COOL!!"
"STOP SCREAMING!!"
chenle slapped his hands on top of his mouth, looking at the boy standing in the doorframe of his house with a letter in hand.
"thanks." the boy sighed. "you almost made me deaf."
"i'm sorry ji." the chinese boy answered, his response getting muffled by his hands over his mouth.
"you can take your hands away, but don't start screaming again."
chenle did as he was told, smiling widely at his dearest friend.
"i'm so excited!" he bounced on his feet.
"yeah, i get it." jisung rolled his eyes, secretly enjoying the sight of his best friend being all cute in front of his eyes.
"can you realise it?!" chenle asked a bit too loud to jisung's liking. "we're going to hogwarts together."
"yeah, and i'm here because you need to teach me a few things about this place again. i don't remember anything about what you told me the other day."
chenle sighed in desesperation. "damn muggle..."
"yah!" jisung exclaimed. "i remember what that means! and it's not my fault."
chenle giggled at his angry best friend.
"come with me then, let's go to my room."

"hyuck! a letter for you!"
after a few seconds, a beautiful tanned male danced his way to the living room, placing a sweet kiss on his father's cheek before taking the letter from his hands.
"has your mother come back home yet?" the man asked as donghyuck jumped onto the nearest couch to open the strange-looking letter.
"she left 10minutes ago for grocery shopping."
"oh, great."
donghyuck opened the letter, pulling out an old-looking sheet of paper on which a text was written in a dark green ink. his eyes ran over the lines of text, taking in every detail before frowning and lifting his head from the letter.
"dad?"
"yeah?" his father's voice answered from his bedroom.
"do you remember me signing in a school called hog... hogwarts?" donghyuck asked.
"i'm not sure. but if they say you've been accepted then you surely did. you have to ask your mother; she was the one to do it with you."
the tanned male frowned, fishing his phone inside his pocket to open internet and type 'hogwarts' in the search bar.
"no result?" he asked
donghyuck made sure he had typed it correctly before trying again, but there still was no result.
"that's strange..." he whispered. "i'll go to the library tomorrow. they'll surely have more information."

jeno walked to the mailbox first thing in the morning.
he was still in his pyjamas, eyes half-closed, and slippers on the wrong feet.
he had been waiting for a package for weeks now, and he was looking forward to opening his brand-new headphones.
but sadly, he was greeted by an empty mailbox.
well, almost empty.
"that shit isn't my package for sure." the boy groggily said, picking the thin letter up. "oh, that's for me."
the boy walked back inside his house, almost falling because of a pebble because he wasn't looking where he was stepping.
jeno's eyes were too immersed in reading the letter he had just received.
"a school accepted me? with my low grades?" he stopped in his tracks, approaching the letter from his eyes as he re-read it again.
"don't ask more, jeno. you're going there!" his mother exclaimed.
