Soulmates
Jimin stares at Tae with raised brows, trying to piece together what could possibly be going on inside his best friend's mind. Tae, noticing his gaze, sighs.
"We should go check on Y/n," he mumbles. However, before he can leave their shared room, Jimin reaches out and grabs his elbow. Tae stays still for a few moments.
"Sit," Jimin says. Tae, although reluctant, eventually does.
The weight added to the bed almost makes Jimin's small body bounce, his legs shuddering from the impact. That's how it's been nowadays. The smallest things are starting to make him tremble. He wish he knew why.
"Why is my best friend always happy around Y/n, but as soon as we're alone, that façade drops?" Jimin asks, speaking their native Italian in hopes it'll help Tae relax more.
"It's nothing I won't get over. I'm just worried about when the trial will come, that's all," Tae replies.
Jimin places a heavy hand on his shoulder. "I've seen you in your best and worst moments. Why lie to me now?" Tae goes stiff. "We've come this far. Come on, Tae. I can see right through you. You like her, don't you?"
Tae almost cries as soon as the words leave Jimin's lips. "She's supposed to be our best friend; our assignment. How the hell do I focus when all I feel around her is my heart? I've never felt like this before, as dramatic as that sounds," he whispers. "But here I am, fawning for not only my assignment, but for a girl who's already taken by a man who'll always be better than me."
"Hey, come on, don't say that," Jimin says, giving his shoulder a small massage. "Jungkook will take care of her. He'll protect her, you and I both know that, but please don't compare yourself to a guy we haven't even talked to that much. A man who doesn't know our real names. You don't need to compare yourself to anyone. You're you, and that's more than enough for me. More than enough for Y/n, too. We love you, Tae. Please, please don't look down on yourself so much. The more you look down, the more focus you lose."
Tae sniffles and meets Jimin's eyes. The best friends stare for a few seconds, then, Tae embraces Jimin. Jimin lets out a small breath and hugs him back, cherishing the feeling of having his favorite person in the world in his arms.
On the outside looking in, their friendship looks like much more than a friendship, and that's the truth. Jimin and Tae have been through more than anyone can imagine. That's why they're always there for each other, why they're always the first they go to.
Jimin's seen Tae bawling his eyes out and screaming about how he doesn't want to live. Tae's seen Jimin pass out from the pressures he put on himself. Tae's seen Jimin almost die from that pressure.
Tae pulls back with a small breath. Jimin can't tell if it's from annoyance, relief, or a mix of both. "I hate feelings," he says. Okay, so it was annoyance. "I've tried to ignore them, but every time I try, she does something cute that makes my heart beat faster. It's like I can't get her off my mind anymore, and I know it's not because she's my job. Jimin, I haven't felt like this in years. I don't know what to do."
Jimin wraps an arm around his shoulder and sighs, glancing up at the ceiling. "We can't really help it," he admits. "Feelings can't be controlled, you and I both know that." Tae keeps his eyes on the wall while Jimin brings his back down. "Hey, please don't beat yourself up over this. Please? For me?"
Tae finally cracks a small smile, leaning in to accept Jimin's warmth. "I like her, Min," he whispers.
"I know," Jimin replies. Tae lets a soft sigh pass his chapped lips.
"But I can't have her. I can't now, and I know I never will..."

Jungkook strokes her locks, the girl all curled up on his chest. Last night was probably the most amazing night of his life. Okay, he sounds dramatic, but it's true. Having a beautiful woman under him, staying with him, cuddling with him? It's the best feeling ever. He doesn't mean to sound like a 'simp' as Yuri would call him, but right now, he sure as hell feels like one.
It's not like he's on a sex high anymore. While getting pleasure, you often think things that sometimes aren't true. Like you love someone. Jungkook thought that after their sex yesterday, but now since he's over it, his thoughts are a hundred percent his. And each one is telling him that Amira's one of the best girls if not the best he's ever met. He can tell she doesn't think much of herself, but she's his world right now.
With a warm breath Jungkook reaches over and grabs his phone from off her nightstand, careful not to wake the sleeping beauty wrapped up on his chest. He smiles and pecks the top of her head before unlocking his phone and sending a quick text to Yuri to check in on her. He did one before he went to bed, and she confirmed that all the doors and windows were locked and she was going to bed. Now it's morning.
Jungkook doubts she's awake already, but it's worth a try. He waits a minute, then realizes she's probably going to be sleeping for another two hours. Yuri always sleeps late. He used to be like that, then he started liking breakfast.
He was never a big breakfast person until Yuri surprised him for his birthday with breakfast in bed. That's what started his craze for wanting breakfast, so he wakes up earlier. Of course he could have breakfast at eleven or twelve if he wanted, but it's better in the early morning.
A stir alerts him to the consciousness coming back to his cute girlfriend. When he peeks down, he's not surprised to see her yawning and stretching.
"Morning beautiful," he murmurs, kissing her forehead. She giggles. Yes, she giggles. Oh, what a glorious sound. Jungkook's vision explodes with colors when the small noise hits his ears, his heart doing a couple flips and- okay, he's a fucking simp.
"Morning Jeon," she replies, climbing up so she's hovering over him.
It's like nine o'clock in the morning, now's not the time for a boner, but he can't help it. She's wearing only her panties and a long t-shirt. Her body, although hidden behind the bagginess of the shirt, is pressed up against his. It turns him on, and sometimes he can't hide that no matter how hard he tries.
"Uh oh, I recognize that look on your face," she teases. "You're hard."
"I have no idea what you're talking about," he mumbles, pulling her a hair closer than she was before.
She snickers and accepts his gesture, letting her chin press against his chest. "You know exactly what I'm talking about," she whispers, her breath hitting his bare chest. Shit, now it's getting worse. Curse Amira for being able to read him like an open book, as cliché as that sounds.
Jungkook hates clichés but keeps finding ways to describe his relationship in that way. Maybe they're clichés for a reason: because they're accurate. The butterflies in his stomach, his pulsing heart, the pure bliss spiking in his head from the very thought of Amira's smile. It's all cliché, all of it. But none of it bothers him.
"Something on your mind?" Amira asks, drawing him out of his thoughts.
He traces small patterns into the t-shirt hanging off her body, a soft breath passing his chapped lips. "You know, this is the first time we're waking up together."
She laughs. "That's seriously what you're thinking about right now? Really?"
"Is that a problem?"
"Not at all, just a little curious why I'm the only thing on your mind nowadays," she says.
She knows him too well. It's too soon; she knows everything and they've known each other what? A little over a month? He's lost count by now.
"Because you're my girlfriend, obviously," he explains in a nonchalant tone.
She sits up, hovering over him again. "Is that the only reason?"
Oh gosh, she knows how he feels about her, doesn't she? He gulps down his nerves. "Yeah. Am I not allowed to think about my girlfriend?"
"You're allowed," she replies. "But you're not allowed to hide every single thought from me."
"Every single one?" he says with a dramatic gasp.
"Every single one."
"Well I was thinking about stripping you and showing you my tongue game-"
"Jeon Jungkook!"
He laughs as she goes back down on his chest, letting out a playful huff. "What? You said every single thought," he says.
She's about to reply when a loud shout sounds off. Jungkook snaps into bodyguard mode and flips her around, keeping her behind him. He keeps his arm in front of her so she doesn't move. Jungkook's eyes fall on the door, the shouting coming closer until he can make out what it's saying.
"Y/n!"
"Huh?" Jungkook mumbles. Amira goes stiff behind him just in time for the door to get knocked on.
"Y/n, wake up! We have a situation!" Hans' voice calls.
"Hans!" Amira yells. There's silence for a few beats. Then, he walks in. Hans stands there with wide eyes, staring right at Jungkook.
"Oh, you're still here? Ami, you didn't tell us he was staying over," Hans says, a hint of pain hiding behind his tone.
"I'm sorry," she's quick to say. "It kind of just happened, I didn't really think about it like that."
"What's Y/n? Pretty name, but what's it mean?" Jungkook asks.
"It's a codeword," Amira explains, placing a hand on Jungkook's shoulder. Hans nods in agreement. "We've been best friends for so long that we have little codewords for things. Like Texas is when we need to talk about something romantic. Skyzone is anything sexual. And Y/n is for when something strange or bad is happening."
Jungkook chuckles. "A code system. Nice, I like it. Should I get out of the way?"
Hans sighs. "I hate to ask you to leave, but we could really use some alone time."
Jungkook shakes him off. "No worries. I'll get out of your way." He turns and pecks Amira's lips. "See you later, my love. Maybe a date tomorrow night?"
She smiles. "I'm okay with that. Pick me up at six?"
"Five. You know I can't go that long without you," he replies with a wink.
She laughs and nudges him. "Get going you big goof."
"Yes ma'am."
He salutes, hopping to his feet. However, this is a bit awkward. Hans turns away so Jungkook can put on his pants and a shirt. Luckily, he had his boxers, but that doesn't make it any less embarrassing. If Hans didn't hear last night, he definitely knows what happened now.
Jungkook throws on his jacket, taking his phone too. "Alright, I'm good to go. See you later Winters, Hans," Jungkook says.
Hans turns around in time for Jungkook to do a small bow he returns. Hans even gives Jungkook a small smile, but Jungkook knows it's plastered on. What he doesn't know is why. Why fake a smile now?
Jungkook decides against questioning it. Instead, he departs the room, waving bye to Jae in the kitchen before leaving the house. He hops on his bike, his phone dinging. Jungkook brings it out, staring at the message on the screen. His jaw drops, every cell in his body halting all at once. The happiness he felt mere seconds ago cracks away, shattering like glass.
Yuri: They're back. Mom and dad are back.
