TWO WEEKS LATER

"Care to explain why we're half an hour early to the movie?" she asks.

Jungkook huffs. "Because that way we can see all the coke commercials and laugh at them."

"This is entertainment for you?" He gives her a 'seriously?' look that has her throwing her hands up in defense. "Listen, do whatever you want as long as you buy the popcorn."

"I'm not surprised you like popcorn," he teases.

"Well yeah, who doesn't?"

He shrugs. "I don't know."

"Then why'd you say it?"

"Because hot people like hot things, y'know? That's why you like me."

Amira stops in her tracks so she can stare at him. "Excuse me?"

"You're hot," he says with full confidence.

"Repeat that."

He smiles innocently. "You're hot."

"Like, on a scale of one to ten?"

"I never learned to count that high, can you lower it to one to five please?"

She whacks his chest, which causes him to let out a cute laugh that crinkles up his eyes and nose.

Okay, so he looks like a bunny. So what? It's not a big deal. Totally isn't. He's only here with the girl he's in love with, about to see a movie and cuddle her, and looking like a bunny while doing so. No big deal at all. Nu uh. Not in the slightest.

"I recognize that look. Either you got another boner or you're thinking about me," she says.

"There's one problem with what you just said," he replies. She raises a brow. "Thinking about you is normally the cause of a boner-"

"We're in public," she sharply reminds him, but he can see the amusement behind her pretty eyes.

"I'm sure no one is listening."

"I thought that in South Korea you're not supposed to talk about that stuff in public."

"Said who?" he asks.

She shrugs. "I just figured cause Korea is really respectful and stuff. Like all the different endings and formalities for the language, pouring drinks for elders, and all that kind of stuff."

Jungkook sighs. "Yeah, it's difficult sometimes. I'm pretty bad at remembering formalities."

"You've lived here your whole life."

"Sometimes I still forget. Like if you only hang out with friends for a month and don't see any elders or any people above you in rank. You get used to either being treated like a boss or being informal. You don't forget necessarily, but you slip up since you're used to people treating you with high respect."

"As a bodyguard, do you get a lot of formal talk?"

"Oh, always. Jin's older than me but insists we talk informally, and the other bodyguards are either younger or the same way. Bodyguards are a higher position than waitresses and chefs, so at the restaurant, if I'm not friends with someone, even if I'm younger, they treat me with the highest formalities. It's a position of respect."

"Wow," she says. "Wouldn't expect bodyguards to be so respected. I've seen the news before, a lot of people are quick to blame bodyguards if the smallest thing goes wrong."

"They have a bit of a right to. We're being paid to make sure the ones we protect don't get hurt. It's quite literally our one and only job, but we're human. Sometimes it's impossible to predict the future."

She gives him wide eyes. "Sometimes?!"

He chuckles and brings her over to the line for concessions.

"What about mafia stuff," she says, "have you ever encountered that?"

Jungkook goes stiff, his playful expression falling. His grip on his wallet tightens until he's sure he'll rip the poor thing.

"Koo? You okay?" she asks.

"My parents, the people they took the loan out from? Mafia. They didn't know it until it was too late and they needed to pay off the bills. Why do you think Yuri and I are so terrified of missing our payments?" Jungkook pauses to dryly chuckle. "Apparently this mafia is one of the most dangerous ones in the world. Has operations everywhere. In America, Asia, Europe... everywhere."

She gives his shoulder a small squeeze. "I'm sorry."

He manages to shake it off. "There's nothing we can do about it now. I appreciate you listening to me."

She takes his hand and gives it a squeeze. "That's what I'm here for, right? To listen to you. I'm not your friend, I'm your girlfriend, and even if I was just a friend, I'd still want to hear every word you have to say. Don't for a second think I don't care. I do."

He breaks out in a bunny grin. "You're one of the best girls I've ever met."

"Other than your sister."

"Other than my sister," he agrees.

She chuckles and nuzzles up against him. "And you're one of the best guys I've ever met."

"Other than Hans and Jae."

She snickers. "Other than Hans and Jae."

They go quiet, observing the menu hung up on the wall behind the cash register. It's hanging above the popcorn and hot dog machines. He notices some nachos and pretzels in a glass container that he assumes has heat in it. The entire place smells of nacho cheese mixed with melted butter.

The movie theatre has always been one of his favorite places. Movies, food, and comfy chairs. Right up his alley. He's glad he has someone to share it with. Yuri's surprisingly not a huge movie person, so Jungkook normally goes alone. But now...

"Can we make this a regular thing?" he asks. "Yuri doesn't like movies, but I love them. I never have anyone to go with. Jin's too busy with his girlfriend to go out anytime after work."

"Sounds like a hard life. I don't mind coming with you. Y'know, just to keep you company. No other reason."

"Right, of course. No other reason at all," he teases. She smiles, and he can't help but return it.

There's one thing about their relationship that he adores: it's realistic. They're honest with each other, but they know how to tease and have fun. It's a relationship that, unfortunately, is rare nowadays.

They adventure together, going places that provide a lot of entertainment. Movies, arcades, parks. Places that they can do a lot of things in. But there's one problem: whenever they're out, he feels like they're being watched.

Maybe that's why he holds her so close, or maybe he's just attached, or maybe a mix of both. Regardless, he always feels like someone's following him. And the worst part about that? He feels it now.

"You okay?" she asks. He forces a smile, and she's quick to notice. "What's wrong?"

"I feel like we're being watched. I've felt it on all our dates," he admits.

She goes still at that. "Is it possible your parents are watching us?"

Shit, he didn't even consider that.

"Fuck, if they bring you into this..."

"Don't worry, I'm around trained people at all times of the day. Jae's trained in martial arts, remember? And I know how to fight too. My parents taught me how. Don't worry about me, worry more about yourself and Yuri."

He lets out a breath of relief. "Okay, that makes me feel slightly better."

She gives him a side hug. "It's okay, Koo. We'll all be okay. If someone's watching us, we could always make out and give them a show."

"And there's the joking Amira to make me feel better," he says with a chuckle.

Despite the humor laced in her previous words, she takes a moment to make her voice sound serious. "Everything's going to be okay."

With those words, he believes her. But if only he knew that he's right about not being alone. They're being watched. And the worst part?

Hans and Jae aren't the only two watching them...
