Kim Taehyung
Jungkook stands there with his eyes wide. Then, the action starts. He finds himself getting pushed out of the way by Yuri and ducking behind a huge container of what he assumes is cargo for planes. Y/n, like Yuri did to Jungkook, shoves Tae into cover. The two of them are hidden behind one container, grunting and hissing from the bullets flying past the wood protecting them. Jungkook blindly fires a few bullets and is surprised when he hears a couple yells of pain.
Tae does the same move, being careful to conserve ammo. They can take from the men they downed, but to do that, they need to scavenge their bodies. To scavenge their bodies, they need to get over to said bodies. How do they do that without getting shot in the head four times?
Jungkook glances at Tae, and the man is covered with tears. Jungkook can't help but think he's responsible for this. If they didn't go back for Yuri, would Jimin still be alive? Would they have made it to the airport ten minutes faster and saved a life?
He shakes off the thoughts. Whether it's his fault or not, thinking like this right now will get them all killed. He needs to do what he can to make sure no one else dies. That would be his worst nightmare.
More gunshots. More bangs. Jungkook holds Yuri close even though his shoulder pains from the wound he took. He huffs and checks how many bullets he has left. Seven. Only seven left. He has to make them count. He knows Tae has a couple backup clips, but there's no way he'll give them to Jungkook of all people. He'll give them to Y/n, who's also fighting her hardest.
Jungkook takes out the kitchen knife he took earlier and hands it to Yuri, who stares at it like it's foreign.
"Only if you have to. I don't want you taking lives," he explains in a hurry. He doesn't bother waiting to see if she agrees or not.
Jungkook fires one more bullet, Tae doing the same before needing to reload. Okay, he does have extra clips. Jungkook gets a peek at how many. Two. Tae's putting one in now. One. One clip left. Six bullets left in Jungkook's weapon and who knows how many in Y/n's.
This is going to shit real fast.
Tae takes a risk and peeps up to see how many are left. He suffers for it. A shot rings out, and this one hits Tae in the shoulder. Jungkook feels his own shoulder wince at the sight.
Y/n panics, firing off a few rounds to cover him as he jumps back behind the box. He pants and holds his injury with his free hand. Jungkook stares and stares. What the hell do they do? Jimin's not here, so they don't have their plan-maker.
"Jungkook," Yuri whispers, "there's only six left. Can we charge them?"
Jungkook swallows his nerves. "Without Tae and Y/n? They wouldn't get it until we're already dead. We have to talk to them somehow."
Yuri is quick to grab Jungkook's gun and shoot in their direction. Jungkook yelps watching the bullet bounce off the box. That definitely got their attention. The two whip around, Jungkook and Yuri both making the motion that there's six left. The two nod. Jungkook motions for them to attack. Right away, they do.
Without worrying about ammo, the group jumps out of cover in time to get a hail of bullets swarmed on them. Jungkook winces, firing on the remaining hostiles. Tae gets hit again, this time in the hip, but he fights it off. The element of surprise seems to work in their favor. Before they know it, the rest of the enemies are gone.
They reconvene near the plane and sprint toward it (for Tae, hobbling). Y/n helps him get onto the vehicle, Jungkook watching their rear to make sure no one else is coming.
"When we get back, we get to Kim Namjoon," Tae explains, struggling to get up the stairs, "he's the one who sent you here, right?"
Y/n nods. "Sure, but how did they find us? Isn't it a safe bet that Namjoon was the informant?"
"Namjoon wouldn't sell us out. On the off chance he's gone or the informant, we go to the damn commissioner. We're getting this trial and we're getting it now!"
Jungkook would be lying if he said he isn't scared of Tae right now. Tae's a highly trained bodyguard who's been around for years, but he just lost his best friend. His partner. Jungkook feels that pain and he barely knew Jimin. He can only imagine what Tae's going through while also having to focus on the mission.
They rush onto the plane, Jungkook making sure Yuri is secure before Tae comes over and closes the door.
"Come on, let's meet our pilot," Tae mumbles, holding his injured hip with one hand and his pistol in the other. He's bleeding profusely from two places. There's no way he survives the trip back to America without medical attention.
"Yuri, find medical supplies, they have to have them on all planes," Jungkook whispers to her. She takes off without hesitation.
Jungkook turns in time to see Y/n falling into her thoughts. And by that he means she's shaking and peering at her gun with horror. So, she must've taken a life. Jungkook's never done it before either, and he's sure he did today, but he's much better trained to handle something like that. Y/n is doing this to stop people from dying. Now she's taken life.
He joins Y/n's side and holds her free hand, the other one gripping the gun. He clicks it on safety and kisses the back of her dirty hand.
"It's okay," he whispers. "We're safe no-"
"No, we're not," Tae interrupts.
Jungkook sees the cockpit not too far away, and his eyes almost burst out of his skull. There's a pilot and co-pilot, very much alive, but there are four men waiting there for them. This must be their last resort plan.
"Drop your weapons," one of them commands. Tae glares, holding his pistol up. The man replies by holding his weapon to the pilot's head. "Do it."
Jungkook pulls Y/n closer, keeping her behind him on instinct.
"I love you," she whispers to him.
He sniffles. "I love you too."
Tae stays in front of Jungkook and makes the decision to drop his pistol. Jungkook and Y/n follow albeit confused.
"Good. We need the girl. These pilots are going to take us back to America and she's going to meet her parents," he continues, the Korean spewing from his tongue.
Jungkook's a little amazed by the differences in language going on here. In the airport, they were speaking English, now these men are speaking Korean. Most likely so they all can understand them.
"Alright. We'll sit and be out of the way," Tae replies, going to sit.
And that's when the gunshot goes off.
Y/n screams as Tae lets out a low groan, falling to the ground, a new wound on his upper stomach.
"Tae!" Y/n cries, Jungkook holding her in place.
They don't care about the rest. They only care about Y/n.
Wait. Yuri.
"Please, there's another one of us here. She's only seventeen. Please, spare her. She's innocent in this. Do whatever you want to me, but please, I beg you, spare her. She knows nothing about this organization. I'm the one you want, not her. Please," Jungkook begs.
The man speaks in English, Jungkook not registering the words. Then, he raises his gun. Jungkook closes his eyes to embrace the end, but the end never comes. A gunshot does, but no pain.
Jungkook gasps and rips his eyes open, amazed to see Tae grabbed his pistol and killed the man, shooting with more accuracy than Jungkook has ever seen in his life. The bodyguard quickly downs the four men before Jungkook can blink, and the pilots are shuddering from the sudden action.
"Fly!" Tae shouts.
The pilots are quick to obey despite the bullet holes in the window. Jungkook hyperventilates, and Yuri slowly comes back into the room. Smart girl; she stayed behind until the fight was won. Jimin hoped she'd be smart enough to know what to do when the time came. She is.
Jungkook casts his gaze to Tae, who hoists himself to sit up, his back hitting the wall of the plane. It rumbles, everyone shifting back and forth before deciding to sit. Yuri has the medkit and rushes to Tae, but there's nothing she can do. Everyone knows that, even Tae.
"Go, kid. Give Jungkook more treatment, he still has a shoulder wound," Tae whispers.
Yuri does just that, sitting next to Jungkook as the plane goes through turbulence on the takeoff. Y/n on the other hand gets out of her seat and kneels in front of Tae. Jungkook holds Yuri's hand, giving it a squeeze and quietly crying.
What do they do now?
~~~
There are dead bodies on the ground, blood splattered everywhere, Jimin is dead, and the plane is trembling as it takes off, but none of that is as important as Tae.
You place your hand on his cheek with tears in your eyes. No, not him too. You already lost Jimin. Now Tae too?
"I'm so sorry, Y/n. I failed you," he whispers, blood pouring out of his mouth.
"No, you got me out of there. You helped me," you insist, placing both your hands over his stomach wound to stop the bleeding. As if it'll last until you get to America. What foolish dream is that?
"Y/n," he murmurs, his blinking slowing. That's what makes you enter level two of panic. "Jungkook was right," he admits, "I love you. I've always cherished you, Y/n. I loved you even though I knew you loved him."
Those words make you break.
"Please don't leave me! Please Tae, I'll do anything! Please not you too! I can't lose you both! I can't!"
He musters the best smile he can give, using his hands to brush your tears away.
"Don't cry, I'm going to see Jimin again." He pauses to let out a small breath. "I'm going to see my grandma again."
You whimper, placing your head on his shoulder. He rests his hand in your hair and strokes it softly. Like a lullaby in physical form.
"It's okay. It's okay, Ami, it's okay," Tae says. You feel him turn his attention to the ones sitting behind you, most likely staring directly at Jungkook. "Get her to the commissioner. Please, Jungkook. If I could ask you for one favor, it'd be this."
You can practically feel Jungkook nod.
You snap back to meet his tear-filled eyes, and his gaze never leaves your face. The moisture prick at the corners of your vision and refuses to stop. He dryly chuckles.
"Funny... even when crying, you look so beautiful," he mutters, wiping one final tear away before his hands slip down by his side. His head tilts, eyes slowly shutting. After a beat, he lets out his last breath, and everything goes still for a moment.
Kim Taehyung is gone.
The silence that follows is the longest, most excruciating silence you've ever felt in your life. When you slump back on the floor, feeling his death truly hit you, the urge to scream hits your heart.
Jimin and Tae. They're gone. The two bodyguards who said they'd be your best friends after this was all over. The two who promised to never leave you. Gone. In one day.
The three of you went from excited to unpack groceries and watch movies to them being covered in a pile of their own blood.
You sink further into the ground, barely noticing how you're flying smoothly now. All that matters are them. Hans and Jae.
Jungkook, sensing your misery, sits behind you and back-hugs you. You're grateful for the comfort, but it doesn't work.
You can't bring yourself to sob. Instead, you stare at Tae's deceased form, his eyes never opening again. Blood soaks your hands, and that's when it hits you again. Tae and Jimin are gone. You took several lives today. You're about to face your parents in court. Your life is about to change.
A deep, shaky breath fills your lungs.
Then, you let out your screams.
A/N: Yeah, this is one of my saddest stories-
The next chapter is the last.
