Date

Jungkook's glad he finally has a chance to take his mind off his parents. It's been three days since his parents came to Seoul, and each day has been pretty miserable. But now, while sitting across from Amira? He's feeling a bit better. A smile graces his thin lips, his hands folding together on the table.

Dinner. What a simple, classic thing to do for the first date. Part of him was hesitant. After all, he hates eating in front of people. It makes him feel a bit nasty. By a bit, he means a lot. Plus, he's not sure what she likes yet.

Normally dinner is the best way to find out the things she likes and dislikes, but what if he chose a restaurant she hates? Would she tell him or keep it a secret so she doesn't hurt his feelings? No, Amira seems like the honest type. He brushes his thoughts aside. The only way he fails this date miserably is if he second-guesses himself constantly. And what is he doing right now?

"Are there any allergies I should know about?" he asks, scanning through the menu.

"I'm allergic to fun, apparently. Haven't had much adventure recently," she says, snorting in response.

He chuckles, flipping to the back side of the paper. "I meant food allergies, but nice to know that you'll be sneezing a lot when I take you skydiving."

"You're taking me what now?"

Jungkook snickers and peeks back up at her, "Sky diving." She blinks and tilts her head. "You know, where you jump out of a plane and freefall?" he asks, furrowing his brows.

"Oh, sorry. I forgot the Korean word for that. Guess I'm a bit rusty. I should work on my vocab." To ease the awkwardness she created, she sips on her water.

He offers her a kind smile. "I'll help you get back into the swing of things. Need any help with our culture?"

"I don't think so. I don't talk to enough people to possibly mess it up. Besides, as long as I have you with me, nothing bad will happen, yeah?"

Jungkook salutes. "Bodyguard and native Korean here. I'll protect you from any enemies or bullies you may have, my dear."

"Didn't know you were so tough." He replies by flexing his muscles. She laughs at him, Jungkook pouting.

"Hey, don't laugh! It took years to get these babies where they are now, I'll have you know," he says with a whine.

"Big muscles, an adult, and a highly trained bodyguard... yet you still whine and pout like a five year old. Should I start calling you a toddler, is that it?"

Although he doesn't want to prove her point, he still ends up pouting more. She snickers, shaking her head. Jungkook drops his pout to instead lean forward on the table.

"Pick a number between one and a hundred," he whispers.

"Uhh, seventy- wait, why are we whispering?" she whispers back.

"I'm having you guess how much the bill will be," he replies with a wink, "and here's the game. If you get within ten dollars of the correct price, I pay. You go over or under ten dollars? You pay."

"That's a decent way of doing it, but there's only one problem with that plan." He raises a brow. "I never agreed to it. I never got to see the terms or get a fair shot. You, on the other hand, have all the info. What if I said three? What then, genius?"

"Then I wouldn't have to pay for dinner."

She shoots him a dirty look that only makes him smile brighter. She's like his daily dose of serotonin. A light in his life. Maybe a beacon of hope that there's still good people in the world.

As a security guard, Jungkook has seen a lot of bad people. Some are stupid, some are genuinely bad, and some are going through such a hard time that crime and doing shady things are the only ways they can live anymore. Jungkook's seen mostly the horrible parts of the world. The only things that aren't part of that side are Jin, Yuri, and now Amira and her friends. She gave him sanctuary when most others would've turned him away. How lucky is that? How lucky is he?

Maybe that's the real reason why he likes her: she's real. She's honest with him. For years, not many have been. It's refreshing to get someone who looks at him like he's an equal rather than too scary to be around or someone who's beneath them.

"Uh oh, did I bore you to death already?" Amira asks, bringing Jungkook out of his thoughts.

"I'm sorry?" he asks back, raising a brow.

"You zoned out there. Everything okay?"

"Yeah actually, I was thinking about you. So it's a good kind of zone out, you could say. Thinking about how you're the first person in years who's been kind to me. Jin and Yuri are the only two I can trust, but... I think you're slowly but surely starting to creep in on that list."

"Quite frankly, I'm a little offended it's taken this long."

Jungkook finds himself laughing before he can stop himself. It wasn't even that funny, and based on the bewildered expression on her face, she didn't think it was that funny either. Yet here he is, laughing up a storm in the middle of a restaurant because of something dumb she said. What the hell is wrong with him?

"Now don't get me wrong, you're cute when you smile and laugh, but what I said really wasn't that funny," she points out.

Jungkook gives her yet another pout. "Am I not allowed to laugh at every single little thing you say?"

"Woah, stalker much?"

"How does that make me a stalker?" he asks in a huff, not hiding his exasperation.

"Because you're watching my every movement," she teases, "you know where I live now, Mr. Jeon. You can technically watch me whenever you want."

"Shit, why didn't I think of that?"

The two share a small laugh, Jungkook's eyes crinkling up. Once they calm down, Amira takes a sip from her water and raises both brows at him. He mimics her actions. "Something on my face?"

"I could easily say hotness, but I don't have a death wish," she says.

"How would that give you a death wish, hm? You think I'd be mad at you for calling me hot?" She gives him a 'really?' look that makes him flash his bunny smile. "I'd never be mad, you're only saying what I already know."

"Oh lord, cocky too. This should be fun," she mumbles.

Gosh, so dramatic. He likes that though. Makes her more interesting to see her put more action and emphasis on her words. That's something he's noticed about her: she's very well articulated. Despite Korean not being her first language, she has a knack for it. She must've practiced a lot when she was learning it. And what does that tell him about her? She's hard-working and intelligent. To know more than one language, you have to be dedicated. Funny how he can tell a lot about her just from the way she speaks.

"How's it been adjusting to Korea?" he asks, placing the menu down.

"A challenge, if I'm being honest. You do things a lot differently over here. I wasn't expecting the culture shock. I studied Korean culture, sure, but I wasn't expecting it to be so jarring." "

How so?" he asks, leaning forward ever so slightly.

"All the honorifics and food, types of people, customs... you name it, and I've probably been confused by it at least once," she says with a sigh, "but it's not a huge deal. I don't go out much anyway, normally I only go out for work."

Now that's interesting. She seems the type to like traveling and going out with friends. "Why's that?"

For a split moment, her eyes glance at a table not too far away, but she's quick to bring her gaze back to him. "Trying to study more before I make a fool of myself," she explains with a soft smile, "though with your help, maybe I won't have to worry about it that much anymore."

Jungkook moves his arm forward, placing his hand on top of hers. "Does that mean what I think it means?" he asks, trying to hide the smile on his face. He knows for a fact he's failing, but he's trying nonetheless. She chuckles, tilting her head back and forth for a moment. Ah this girl, teasing him by pretending to think about it.

"The night is still young, Jeon, so don't get too excited, but... yeah, it does. I think you scored a second date," she finally answers.

And just like that, Jungkook's heart beats faster.
