Chapter Twenty: Off Limits
Will's POV (Trigger Warning: Sol has a valgur tongue.)
I'll admit, I was a bit hurt when Nico said he "wasn't ready" to be my mate. But I told him I'd wait. And I will. I don't want him to feel pressured. I hope my dad won't just suddenly make me Alpha now that Nico is here. That would be stressful. Hopefully we are still going with the autumn thing. Though I'm not sure. The pack seems fine with having Nico as an Alpha, but how would the packs in our alliance react?
They don't get a choice. Either they accept him or they can get the hell out of our alliance.
I sighed at Sol's harsh words. But he was right. I wouldn't have said it like that but I agree with him. Once I become Alpha, he's going to be Alpha too. There's nothing anyone can do about it. Nico had said he wanted to take a walk around camp. I offered to go with him but he turned it down, saying he'd be fine. I let him go without a fight because he was right. The pack wouldn't dare touch him, so what's the point of worrying?
No one is going to become loyal to him that quickly! The pack barely knows our mate. They won't care!
I shook my head, taking a breath. They wouldn't hurt him. I know everyone in this pack. They wouldn't harm my mate. Especially since I'm becoming Alpha soon. None of them are crazy enough to do that.
Just calm down Sol.
We'd be calmer if our mate was here and not probably being looked at by the sluts of the camp.
Sol!
Just being honest.
But you do know Nico has a name right? You don't need to keep referring to him as "mate".
We want to rub in that fact that we have a mate now. He's perfect and we get to kill whoever touches him.
No.
We don't need your permission.
I rolled my eyes at my wolf's behavior. We've known Nico for about a week or two and he was already being possessive. I don't want other wolves looking at Nico either, but that doesn't mean I have to kill the ones that do. I suddenly feel a hot rush of jealousy. Why? I fidgeted in my seat on the bed, trying to push away the feeling as Sol growled.
Someone thinks they're the shit.
I blinked, not understanding what he meant. Before I could even react, I felt like I was being thrown out of contol. Sol please no. I struggled against him, using my mind like two kids fighting over one toy. Of course, this is when it hit me. Literally. I felt this distant pain that felt like I had just been slapped. That's when Sol forcfully pushed me, sending me stumbling into my subconscious. Oh this is going to be so great. I groaned as Sol took control.
Please don't do anything crazy.
Sorry. We don't know the difference.
Sol's POV (Surprise Surprise)
Will is an idiot. No one in this pack can be trusted. And that fact is being proven. Someone thinks they wish to be a rebel and mess with our mate. If it wasn't clear that this was a bad idea, we'll make it clear.
Just don't do anything crazy in front of Nico.
We ignored the annoying human in our head-
THIS IS MY HEAD!
-and continued to leave the house. How could people walk on only two legs? It felt and looked ridiculous. You could accomplish so much more in wolf form. With that in mind, we shifted while still ignoring Will's complaints of ruining a perfectly good set of clothing. The clothing can wait.
Our mate's scent hit me almost immediately. He smelled of the earth. Like how you could smell after playing in dirt or rolling in leaves and bushes. It didn't sound pleasant, but it was. That and the hint of vanilla that stuck with it. We were glad it didn't overpower the natural earthy smell of him. After being trapped in a daze, trying to fully identity our mate's scent, we ended up deeper into camp. Mate really did take quite the walk. We didn't expect him to go so far. This is why we shouldn't have let him leave in the first place! Idiot Will.
"P-Please. I'm really not comfortable-"
"Oh please. You love seeing this."
"No! No I don't, now let me go!"
Mate and.. Someone else. The scent was bitter. Too much lavender. It almost overpowered Mate's scent. We crept behind one of the houses and glared at the sight. One of those sluts had our mate trapped behind the house. What was her name? Dew?
Dr-
We really don't give a damn.
A wave of burning rage filled us as we watched the slut pin Mate to the wall of the house and hovered her face over the crook of his neck. Oh hell no. After a moment of blur we were pinning the slut, now in her hideous wolf form, to the dirt. Her annoying pleading whines gave us a headache as she begged to be let up from this hold. We growled as we pinned her, warning her that the next time this happened we wouldn't be so gentle. After making her beg for a moment more we released her, watching in amusement as the claw marks on her shoulder and side bled and the small puncture wounds from our teeth did as well as the slut rose with caution and raced off with her tail between her legs like a pussy.
The other packmates must have heard the commotion since now Lou and Cecil were here. Great. We thought of the whole reason we were there and turned. Our mate was huddled against the house, staring at us. A soft fabric feel over our back and we shook it off, only to see it was a sheet. We couldn't talk to our mate in wolf form, we guessed so why not? We turned our eyes to Cecil who was backing away from us. He must have gave us the sheet. We took it with our jaws, shifting back into human and tying it around our waist. We glanced up at the other wolves that surrounded the area. They immediately began ushering each other away, much to our satisfaction. We glanced down at our mate who's face was bright red and his face was hidden in his knees. Adorable.
"Did she do anything?" We growled softly at the thought, kneeling down in front of our mate. He rose his head, locking eyes with us. Those cracked obsidian eyes that made our heart melt and swell with hatred to whoever broken them. He bit his lip, shaking his head. "I'm okay," his soft voice that sounded a bit different than any voice we've heard.
He has an accent...
Will sounded like he was enjoying being so close. So were we. We reached and took his wrist, rubbing our thumb over his skin, anger boiling as we saw scars. That son of a bitch Nathaniel was going to pay. We pushed away the anger at the look of Mate with a deeper red face. He was so sweet and innocent. Like an angel.
"She won't touch you again, Angel. No one will," We stated flatly, earning more of a blush from him and a small nod.
Why was she touching his neck? Oh. We know why. We gently took his chin, tilting his head off to the side to expose his neck a bit more. My teeth itched at the sight of bare, clear skin. He's not marked. No wonder that slut got so bold. Ugh, idiot. We shouldn't have let him roam without being marked.
"We're going to make sure you stay mine, okay?" As we spoke, Mate seemed to squirm. He was so cute.
"Will.. Why are you talking like that?" His voice was nervous and small. Were we scaring him? We couldn't help but smile at his oblivious nature.
"We're Sol, Angel. Will's wolf," We informed him, just earning a confused look. "We'll explain more later. Just.. Close your eyes."
We were honestly surprised when he obeyed. Good. This should be easy then. He won't see it coming.
Sol, no. He's not rea-
We think he's ready to be protected at least.
But Sol, being marked is a big deal! He doesn't even know what you're doing!
It won't hurt as much if he doesn't expect it.
Sol! N-
Enough arguing. We leaned forward, letting our canines grow out. Mate tensed and I froze. No don't do that. You'll make it worse. We placed our lips were the mark would be and ge eased. Good. We opened our mouths, our canines barely grazing Mate's skin when a dizzy spell washed over us. Great.
Will's POV (Confused? Good.)
No. No no no. I wasn't going to let Sol do this to Nico. Especially without his permission. He wasn't ready yet and I wasn't going to force this upon him. I threw Sol out of control and back into my subconscious. Blinking to make sure I was in control again, I pushed away from him. My teeth itched. I wanted to mark him.. But I couldn't. I can't. I covered my mouth with my hand, forcing my fangs away.
Idiot! That was the only way to protect him from these sluts!
No. Not like this.
I noticed Nico had opened his eyes, placing his hand over the place Sol almost bit into. He looked confused and a bit shaken. I don't blame him. I stood up, sighing.
"I'm sorry, Neeks. I'm so sorry," I shook my head, offering a hand to help him stand. He accepted it and stood, eyeing me suspiciously.
"Will..?"
I smiled and nodded, feeling a bit embarrassed Sol went so crazy. I hope Drew is okay. Even if she tried to mark Nico as her own. I couldn't understand why that was something wolves could do. Maybe for the wolves who's mate dies? I'm not sure. I still hated her for doing (or at least trying to) that but I didn't want her dead.
We do.
You don't count.
Nico continued to rub his neck, staring at me in confusion. I sighed, taking his wrist. "Nico, there is something else I need to explain to you about being a wolf's mate."
He nodded hesitantly as I led him away and back to the house. This was going to be hard to explain. But I needed to. I'm not sure if he's going to be mad at Sol once I explain it-
He won't be... Right?
-but I had no choice. Although I told Nico I would wait, and I will, I still need to make sure the other wolves respect him as my mate. Maybe I can't mark him as of now..
But I need to make sure the other wolves know Nico is off limits....
