Chapter Two: Alive and Okay

Nico's POV

After leaving the hospital, we ended up going to the police station. We were once again told to leave Will outside. This was different. My friends insisted that I speak to the police. This wasn't a thing I could refuse. So I sighed, giving Will a small kiss on his nose (making him sneeze) and let Percy and Hazel take me in while the others waited outside with Will.

It was awkward talking to the police. They immediately pulled me away from Percy and Hazel, shoving me into a room and showering me with questions. What happened that night. How long I've been with Nathaniel. How I managed to survive in the forest. I was hesitant to answer all of them, especially at the speed they seemed to want me to.

Once we were done, which felt like hours later, I walked back into the waiting room. I froze when I saw Will, in wolf form thankfully, sitting by a traumatized looking secretary's desk. I rushed over.

"W-Sol!" I quickly changed my wording once I saw my friends in the corner of ny eye. "What are you doing?!"

You took too long, he huffed, laying on his stomach casually.

I groaned softly, shaking my head at him. This was already going to be a disaster. "Alright, let's go," I called to my friends, patting Will's head and walking out of the police station with the giant wolf at my side. Well, I had to go through the door first since Will was a.. wide wolf. Yet the moment we went out, cameras immediately began flashing in my face. I stumbled back, Will letting out a yelp and using his paws to try and hide his face.

"Nico? Nico di Angelo?!"

"It's him! It's him!"

"How did you survive being in the woods for so long?"

"Did your boyfriend really try to kill you?"

I flinched at the last question, trying to blink away the colorful spots that danced in front of my eyes. I felt arms and hands pushing me away from the crowd. I reached out blindly, searching for Will. Relief filled me as my fingers closed around a chunk of fur and I willingly let myself get lead away from the herd of people calling out to me.

I saw news vans. I say reporters running and trying to question me. I saw police officers and my friends struggling to keep the crowd away. Will even snapped at one reporter who seemed to get too close. I didn't expect all this attention so quickly. I was led to the car again, Will once more squeezing inside. Once the rest of our group piled into the car, he quickly drove away.

"You okay Neeks?" Jason turned from his position in the passanger seat. "That must have been pretty overwhelming.."

I shook my head weakly, forcing a smile. He was right. I was still trying to blink away the dots in my eyes from the flashing cameras. "I'm fine.."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The house was pretty big. Apparently Jason, Percy, and Leo had all moved in together. Percy's stepfather, Paul Bofis, worked in a very wealthy company and bought quite a few really nice houses. He gave Percy one of them, being the one we currently drove up too.
"Wow.." I mumbled, staring at the large house as the others began to slip out of the car. It had two floors and seemed to be made of windows. There was a balcony on the second floor, looking over the sidewalk. Seemed meaningless since there wasn't much to see in this area. The house was even bigger than Will and I's house back at home.
Home. I felt a dull pang in my gut. The pack was my home. And I abandonded it. I basically forced Will to as well. I glanced at him as I climbed out of the car. He was so big in wolf form, every move he made seemed clumsy. He always had a hard time getting out of the car. He stumbled a bit, then hopped out snd shook his golden coat out.
Was he okay with being so far from the pack? Being somewhere you don't belong. It's how I felt when I arrived to the pack. It ended up well enough, but it may not end up so good this time. Was it even healthy for him to be so far? What was the pack going to do? I really should have thought of this before hand-
Neeks, you're giving me a headache, Will suddenly spoke up.
I jumped at the feeling of Will's nose pressing against my shoulder. His eyes were filled with worry. As were the eyes of my friends who were waiting by the door of Percy's house. I blinked, sighing before rubbing Will's chin and following the group into the house.
It was.. huge.. we were immediately met with a staircase. On the right side was a dining room, a large wooden table with matching chairs surrounding it. The table was covered in a pearl white sheet, a bouquet of roses, fake or not I wasn't sure, sitting in the middle. On the left of the stairs was what seemed like the living room. It had a large TV with an oval table in the middle. A couch sat on the opposite side from the TV, with leather chairs sitting on each side of the couch.
"Wow..!" I gaped as we walked inside fully. Jason led me upstairs, Will struggling to follow as we went. The second floor was filled with doors and the walls were covered with blurry looking pictures. We went down a few doors before Jason stopped and open one.
"This is your room. If you want it."
Jason stepped out of the way and allowed me to walk in. There was a bed dead in the middle and pressed against the wall. A large window looked over the bed from behind the headboard. The sheets were a baby blue with large pillows. There were two bedside tables, one on each side of it. On the floor, at the foot of the bed was a large, fluffy white rug. There were two doors on the left side of the room, meaning there must have been a closet there. One the opposite side there was a large wooden dresser. The same wall connected to the door held another large TV with a small table underneath. The walls were more of a sky blue.
"This.. wow. Thank you.." I grinned at Jason, taking another step. Will walked inside, sniffing around before making himself comfortable on the rug. I giggled at him, walking over and sitting down next to him. I leaned against him, his warm body rising and falling with every breath he took. "Thank you Jason.."
"Get some rest, Neeks," he spoke gently, smiling. "You need it."
I nodded as he turned and shut the door. I yawned a bit, laying down on the rug and curling up next to Will. Will rolled a bit, curling himself around me. I nuzzled closer to him, engulfed in his warmth.
You should sleep in the bed..
"You can't fit in the bed in this form," I mumbled back. "So this is going to have to do..."
Hazel's POV
I was so glad Nico was safe. Finally, my big brother was home and away from that monster that hurt him. Jason had taken Nico and his wolf upstairs and came back down a couple minutes later. As much as I wanted to smother Nico with hugs and ask him millions of questions, I knew what Nico truly needed was to rest and get used to everything again. We couldn't overwhelm him.
The others and I restlessly settled in the living room, deciding to watch a movie. We lowered the volume just enough so that we could hear the small sounds of the house. I was sure there was at least two people out of us all listening out, just in case Nico was calling out or something. It felt like having a small child in the other room, anxiously listening for any sign that theu could be in distress. We heard nothing.
Once the movie was over we all decided to settle in for the night. We all went upstairs and split up to go in separate rooms. I made a beeline to Nico's. I opened the door, peeking in. Nico was curled up with his wolf on the rug, both of them fast asleep. I felt my heart pang.
"You must be used to sleeping like this.." I whispered miserably, walking inside all the way. I knew the wolf must be pretty warm, but I still wouldn't be able to sleep well if I just left him like this.
I walked over to the bed, pulling an loose sheet from it and draping it over the two. The wolf was woken up by that, his eyes blinking open and his head lifting so those eyes met with mine. I took a step back as I heard it give a low rumble like noise.
".. Thank you.." I whispered, taking a deep breath and stepping forward. The wolf stopped, cocking it's head like it was questioning me. I smiled a bit. "Thank you.. for protecting him. For keeping him alive.."
I hadn't noticed I was in reach of the wolf until it reached it's head over and licked the back of my hand. I jumped a bit, but smiled and rubbed his head. "Sol is your name, right?" I whispered, looking him over. "It suits you. Nico's pretty smart."
The wolf snorted, then laid his head back down. I took that as a sign that he was done talking, and quickly left the room without another word.
At least my brother's alive and okay.....
