Impenetrable Armor - Part 1
Commander Luthor POV
"I don't understand the reason for this discussion. Krugger was in our aim. We used what we had." Said commander Manson, of the Armored fort.
"You used a Kryptonite cannon, with Supergirl on the way. I don't even need to remind you of her importance." Scored Commander Luthor. "Our latest hero."
"The commander means YOUR hero." Cut Manson angry.
"Easy, guys." Asked commander Anri of the Jaw fort. Which made Luthor a little uncomfortable.
"I lost a whole fort, don't tell me to take it easy! It is very simple for this lady to come here to criticize me when she is the only fort commander with Supergirl as a defense. Although after the last event, she's not even for that anymore!"
"Commander Manson!" Said Arlet from the Colossal fort.
"I'm saying the truth, the age of super heroes is gone, now they're just that, past. It would be better if your super hero was just a memory, so we stopped with this messianic bullshit, and do something."
Luthor scrambled to her feet.
"Order!" asked Claus, the commander of Primordial fort. "Commander Manson, what do you suggest? Supergirl has been, and still, our best and only option."
"I completely disagree. I don't understand why we waste time with this bad joke, when we have Icarus at our disposal." Manson spat.
"Are you nuts?! You have any idea what can happen if you use Icarus? At least twenty Tokyos would disappear in a snap of fingers. And that a glancing shot, in full, can even hit the center of the planet." Sigward, commander of Ell fort, jumped up from his chair.
"One destroyed moon was enough," completed the twin commander, Sigmeyer, from Bestial fort.
"I don't get your fissure with this cannon of mass destruction, worse than an atomic bomb. I want to continue living here on Earth, thank you." said Luthor, holding tight to not explode.
"Afraid that my cannon beat your super hero?" He scoffed.
"Your cannon?!" Sigward snarled, unhappy with the question of ownership.
"Good luck getting a shot. Krugger is too fast for such a massive weapon. It would destroy everything but her." said the brunette, sure of knowing that Cadmus contraption.
"Apart from the preparation time for one shot, we don't have enough engineers for that." attested Sigward.
"And no resources," Said Rick, commander of Lion fort.
"For now, our decision regarding the fate of Supercorp remains the same. How long until Supergirl is ready?" Asked Claus, a bald and wrinkled little gentleman.
"Two weeks, at least," said Luthor, lamenting each syllable.
"I'm telling you, sooner this lie over, better will be. Fort Xerxes went down, and you still go for it? This belief in that Jesus in cape of hers is going to kill us all!" snapped Manson.
"Meeting finished!" Yelled Arlet.
The entire white room fell apart, the commanders' holograms faded, leaving only Luthor on that empty table.
Thank God that session of horrors in that mock conference room was over before the brunette freaked out. She plopped down in her chair, pulling in all the air she could, holding on and counting to ten. Nine commanders, and nine dumbasses, herself included, she thought. From the rest of the rest, the resistance united under the banner of the S and the L.
Supercorp Alliance.
She read on the wall in the dark that dungeon was, and she couldn't help but smirk at that ridiculous little fanfic cover name. How much better if it was just that, a little name to squint in the thumbnail. Or the funny name she thought when...
Without realizing it, the brunette fingered her blouse over her chest. Taking even deeper breaths as she pulled on a red string she wore as a necklace, and on the end of it was a silver ring. Loose on her finger, perhaps because it didn't belong to her measurements but to someone else's.

What an awful day it was being. All she wanted was a shower and her bed. Dragging her feet, Luthor went into the bedroom, kicking off her boots, throwing her coat anywhere. She dropped the gun and finally free. In only her white T-shirt and underwear, she turned on the shower to heat the water, only to see a blonde sitting in the same bathroom.
Surely no one would hear that scream, but for anyone who wants to know, someone's head almost hits the ceiling with the jump of fright.
After showering, the brunette went to the bedroom to throw herself on the bed. Shame till death. And again, without realizing it, she was burying her head in the sheets, still smelling of her, the smell of both of them. Her mind went to a dark place called the past when...
For the first time, they...
"Sorry, I should have said something as soon as you entered." said the blonde, leaving the shower.
"You don't have to apologize. I should have remembered you were here." The commander looked away.
"I'm sorry," asked the super, with a sad cry in her voice.
"I already said that there is no reason. Stop charging so much. Besides, good to see things working inside of you. With the internal injuries, you weren't even supposed to be able to eat. But you recover fast." She smiled at her, and the Kryptonian shuffled into the chair.
"Not fastest as some people," she muttered.
Luthor felt a pinprick in her chest.
"Be professional Supergirl. We might be in my personal room, but we are only partners at Supercorp." The brunette looked at the chair. Tossed on the back, having drag the serum from side to side. "Let me dry it for you."
She took the towel in hand and rubbed the long yellow strands.
"Is this being professional?" Asked the super.
"You are an important article of the agency, you have to be well, otherwise you will become a gap in the staff, and it's no use walking in a leaky boat." She explained, not having the courage to look into those blue eyes.
"And are you okay?" That warm, tearful voice she knew so well.
There was no way, and she locked eyes with one another.
"Some days, almost. I think no one has ever been well in six years. The worst ones for me are, when..." Words failed, breath, strength to respond with the mouth, what the heart cry out in despair. "When I have to watch Supergirl against Krugger, the reports suck." She broke down.
"It's my duty to protect the world and the people. It is my duty to defeat her." Those lips said, but the eyes, in the skin, in the warmth, the commander felt something else. And with none of the duties calling, or even for a moment, they could ignore.
The silence between them was something a little different, one that was repeated for years involuntarily faced with countless denials.
No.
No, and no.
Supergirl and Commander Luthor carried the most terrible silence, but not the two women beyond the titles. It wasn't silence; it wasn't vain; it wasn't terrible; it was the absence of words to speak, what each one's chest demanded.
But it couldn't, not after what had happened between them.
It couldn't, it wasn't the place; it wasn't the time.
And it never would be.
They were at war. One way or another, in or out of that room.
The short distance fell apart with each breath. Without being able to escape the undeniable magnetism between them. But the door clicked, and it opened with Alex.
"Commander, there's something you need to see." called the redhead.
