Dream again

Supergirl POV

Bitter tears, that was the taste in her mouth. Supergirl was shot down from the highest flight, and the earth beneath her was pale gray, like the monster in the night sky.

"Kara?" Called Lena's soft voice.

The blonde opened her eyes, her face rough from the couch and damp from the puddle of drool. Her apartment?

How?

Where?

"Lena, where is everyone? Is everyone all right?" Said, jumping off the couch with the sheet wrapped around her shoulder.

"They went home, and everyone will be better after a strong coffee," the brunette laughed at the super lost as a nun on a honeymoon. "Hey, give me a hand," she asked, going to one end of the dining table.

Kara went to the other end, not understanding how she got home.

"Kara, Kara? KARA?!"

In normal conditions, the super was already a scatterbrain, just missing a pie at her nose, to complete the comic scene of the Luthor hanging on a floating table. Without realizing, the blonde had raised the table almost to ceiling height.

"I'm sorry." She whimpered as she returned the brunette to the ground, uninjured from an unscheduled fall.

"Okay, just help me put everything in place." What's this woman asking for? The plan was just to reorganize the apartment. No biggie, for an ordinary day, for an ordinary life on earth, but what was happening?

The super couldn't get out of her mind everything that had happened, everything that happened to the world, in the last few years.

Years?

Yes, the disaster had occurred years ago, the coming of...

"Earth to Kara. Are you in the moon? What happened? You've been distracted since you woke up. We'll never sleep on the couch again."

Lena smiled like a fool in Wonderland. The most beautiful smile that had been taken from her years ago.

"Lena. I, I don't know how to say it. It's just," How to speak? Apparently stupid, but sometimes we really forget how to do the simplest thing. Even breathing can be the biggest task.

"I don't know either," the brunette hugged her, disarming the Kryptonian's. So warm, so calm. The super sunk her face in that peace coming from the other. As if it could even erase the memory.

"Lena, where are we?" she whispered with her chest for breaking.

"We are home. I shouldn't have let you drink at yesterday's party."

"No, it's. There's something wrong. I don't know how, but I wasn't here. We weren't here yesterday. I don't remember the party." The blonde felt like a time bomb about to explode. And the brunette changed color, from a soft blush to red after ten liters of vodka.

"You really can't stop thinking about, every time we do it?" Lena looked at the floor. "We didn't stay at the entire party. That's why I went straight to drink when we got back, and you stayed behind me like a shadow. I don't know if I was more ashamed of you pretending really bad, or that everyone noticed you pretending really bad."

It didn't make sense.

How she went there?

And the apocalypse?

"It's like I'm daydreaming." Kara clutched her head in her hands. "Everything, our friends, the entire planet, everything gone. She destroyed everything, Lena." Tears escaped, despair took over, with the clear vision of the world shrouded in ashes, and the blood of all people in her hands.

Lena slipped her hands under the Kryptonian, gently brought her close. She tests her forehead, her heart breaking, the memory of the pale hell.

"Hey, I'm here with you. Just you and me, here and now."

Was it all a dream?

Her eyes, one green and one blue, so sure and full of courage.

"Do you want to tell me about this nightmare?" The brunette stroked and wiped those tears, which at first were bitter, were now just far memories of the super's worst nightmare.

Before long, they were on the same couch, sworn never to be a bed again. So that it was Lena who took over its place, with the blonde's face on her chest, stroking her hair. While the worst dream ever, and Supergirl's most terrifying nightmare, was told.

"Six years ago, that's how it started. We were in the lab and the sensors went off like crazy, a mace escape from almost every prison. All existing teams came together. Another day saving the world, but she appeared, the demon of light. At first she was just another villain among the crowd, but when the Titans team was murdered, things changed. No one found her, and almost no one who found her came back. For two years, there was nothing left but me, somehow. Everyone gone, and I couldn't do anything."

"You demand too much on yourself, even in a dream." Lena pulled the hero up so their faces met. "But was a bad dream, a nightmare, that you woke up, babe."

"Babe?" The blonde stopped. If the despair of the nightmare had already been huge, now it had doubled in a mental mess.

"You really charge yourself too much. Forget the world for a second, and close your eyes." asked the brunette.

And as soon as she obeyed the request, the other's breath came closer, and her lips warmed, as well as her face, and her heart leaped. They parted, only to catch the tender gaze of one, and the confused of the other.

Again without realizing it, she was floating, with a Luthor flying, but this time in her arms.

"Lena?" gasped the super, with her hands lost in the back of the other.

"Kara," smiled Lena, covering her embarrassed smile with one hand. It was then that the super saw the ring on Luthor's right ring.

"That ring," she said on that strange, and yet familiar, ring.

"You have yours, dummy," Lena laughed.

The blonde looked for it in her own hand. And blindness was not enough, MYOPE. It was there, just like the brunette. A silver ring.

"We made the biggest mess yesterday, after we came back, everyone shouted: FINALLY!!!." Laughed Lena, to hide how red she was, and how embarrassed to talk about it. So it would be a competition, as the super was on her way to GAY PANIC ATTACK of the year.

"Lena, us," The super's eyes once again filled with tears, but warm, and full of a joy long denied, and finally exalted.

"Us," Not even Lena endured such a scene, and in the same tears she smiled, along with the one that had always been there.

By her side.

The warm heart, cherished with love; and then, like an evil shadow, stalking, to steal away that joy, and with it vanish. Cold air invaded her lungs, and clouds spilled from her cut lips.

Cold the infinite darkness swallowed her.

"Lena?!" she called, and her whole body awoke in pain. Her face in that pale ash of destruction and death. Mouth bitter with tears, and muscles contracting. Denying to the end what had just occurred. Her nightmare coming true, but which one was her worst?
