Both sides of the nightmare.

Alex POV

Since the fall, since the rain, begins two things that Lena hated till the bottom of her heart.

The title of last hero, and the asshole's club. One put her sister between a cross and a sword, the other created a bunch of idiots who wanted to hang her sister on a cross, like a pig, to be sacrificed on the altars of insanity.

Fear and terror and despair, as if the sons of Ares were free to cause it all. But they weren't. One thing was certain, there were no more gods to whom man could blame for his own sins. At least that could be said. Man's guilt could no longer be denied. Each one carry their own cross.

"Done, and shut your mouth next time." Said Alex, taking off the gloves. Indiud was putting his arm in a cast in the sling.

"There's no hope, right, General Danvers?" Asked the boy sitting on the stretcher.

"If not, what is the other option?" She answered with an equivalent question. Yeah, wasn't just Supergirl between the cross and the sword. Alex understood that, which allowed her to have a much, much cooler head. Understand that they were all in the same boat, with and without the last hero, between madness and insanity. "Go, and try not to mess around the commander again, or the next one. I'll pick up the fire extinguisher myself."

She dispatched the errant-tongued wretch before answering the pulse communicator's call.

"General Danvers, what's up, commander?"

"Alex it's Supergirl. She passed out in the bathroom. Come here quickly."

"I'm on my way!"

She sprinted toward the commander's quarters with the sling from the surgical kit.

The commander's room lay in shadow, dimly lit with a greenish glow. The super lying in bed with dark sheets.

"Don't get up, kryptonite needle," said the general, checking the hero serum on the commander's bed.

"What happened?" Asked the confused blonde, forgotten about a bathroom floor, and covered in bruises.

"What ever happens after you go berserker mode. Relax, this room is a dungeon. No one will hear you scream, even with ears on the door." She smiled from another kind of scream. The super showed little enthusiasm. The redhead got it. Shouldn't be easy to carry the weight of the world on your back, not to say impossible. And knowing her own sister, it was no surprise that the stupid one would try something just as stupid. "Later, Lena comes. Now she's chatting with the commander of the Armored fort."

The super hid her face, turning away.

"I'm sorry Alex, I couldn't beat her. I failed you again." The blonde lamented. And Alex's lungs filled with fire.

"OH DOESN'T YOU DARE RED CAPE GIRAFFE!" She stuffed a pillow in her sister's face. "I'm not dead yet for you to be whining! Then stop, before this doldrums contaminate anyone else!"

"MY SISTER WAS POINTED OUT BY THE DEMON! I'M NOT SAD, I'M FUCKING PISSED OFF, BECAUSE I COULDN'T DO ANYTHING; I can't do anything." She looked at her with tears in her eyes, red with blood.

"You're doing everything you can." Alex sits next to the sick woman.

"And it's not enough," said the blonde.

"Only inside that soft egg yolk head of yours." Alex listened to the words, as the banter didn't put an end to the absolute stagnation of six years. "I'm still here, and I'll be there until I'm supposed to be. We're all going one day. But leave this day for when it's supposed to be, please. It's been almost six months since I've seen your face, can't you take it a little lighter with my sister?" She took the super's hand, which she squeezed back, going for a hug. They hadn't seen each other in time, hadn't even talked in time, hadn't had her silly sister around for a while. The radio beeped, and the fort's general got up. "Rest, we'll talk tomorrow."

She left the commander's room, turned between the corridors, until she met Mara, the third captain. Peeking around, and sure no one would see them together, or where they were going. The two women entered the north wing and climbed the spiral staircase, exiting the corridors of destroyed laboratories. Alex followed the woman ahead to an even more remote part, the halls of the barracks.

They entered one room.

"Did you tell anyone?" asked the captain.

"No, only to you, general." She answered.

"Nobody should know. I'll do it myself," Said General Danvers before the sinister altar in that room.

All fall, lambs of the great white god, bow down to the rain. Save us god of end, purge evil from all earth.

"They're already here." Murmured the general, feeling the scratched symbol of the super on the wall.

Rainers among them.
