A night of firsts for the soon-to-be parents

For the umpteenth time, Hinata moved in her bed. The urge to pee had woken her up and now, she failed to fall back asleep.
It wasn't because Naruto was snoring next to her. She got used to it by now. It was more because of herself. Or rather, because of the little human being living inside her belly. He wanted something, but she didn't know what.
She had already got up twice. The first time to drink a glass of water and the second time, right when she was about to fall asleep, she had to go to the bathroom. Now, she had no clue of what he wanted.
She gently caressed her big belly under her t-shirt. "Tell me that's wrong." she murmured.
"Rasengan!"
Pushing on her arms to sit up, Hinata sighed before looking at her husband experiencing another agitated dream, which hadn't happened for a long time.
Every morning of their first month as a couple, Naruto's room looked like a battlefield because he was moving too much in his small bed, pinning Hinata between his body and the mattress. During these mornings, it was hard for him to wake up. Then, when he would succeed at opening his eyes, his face was horribly tired due to the lack of rest.
Hinata had worried for him, but Naruto assured her that it was normal. However, she soon noticed changes when she had started to cook for both of them.
So, wanting to solve this problem, Hinata started cooking vegetable soups for dinner. Not liking the idea too much at the beginning, Naruto had eventually accepted to please her. But in the end, this issue quickly vanished and they were able to have good night sleep.
Used to eat ramen anytime of the day, Naruto's body had the need to be physically active all the time to digest all the calorific food its owner would eat. But thanks to Hinata's cooking, his stomach wasn't complaining anymore.
But now, if Naruto's sleep wasn't peaceful anymore it was because of her pregnancy. He couldn't help but think and worry too much.
But wasn't it what parents would feel for the well-being of their children?
Fortunately, Hinata could be relieved to not be pinned down between the bed and Naruto anymore. He was too scared to hurt the baby.
Don't get her wrong, she loved to be in Naruto's arms, but lately she was already feeling huge enough to have a third weight to carry. Plus, she really enjoyed when he would leave nothing to be desired.
Suddenly, obviousness lighted her though and Hinata realised the baby must be hungry.
What had she had for dinner?
Surely not enough for two, including one who was quickly developing his chakra. Now, she was the one who had to change her eating habits.
For the third time she pushed herself straight, climbed off and left Naruto alone in bed.
On tip-toe, She went downstairs to their super big kitchen and opened the fridge. "Let's see what we can eat." She caressed the belly.
Unfortunately, she found nothing she was craving for. She closed the fridge and opened every cupboard, trying to not be too noisy. There must be some cinnamon rolls left somewhere. She hadn't eaten all of them already.
She let out a relieved sigh when she found a first box half full. She saw several other boxes at the back of the cupboard. She smiled, understanding that Naruto had already stocked up on cinnamon rolls.
She eagerly opened the box, but instead of making her salivate, the smell left her indifferent.
Why?
She took a plate then placed one of those cinnamon rolls in the microwave oven, but even warm, she wasn't attracted by the mouthwatering sight the pastry gave her.
Hinata then went to the dining table and sat down on one of the chairs. The cinnamon roll in front of her, she pouted and cupped her face, elbows on the table, waiting for this delicious and sweet cinnamon roll to finally awaken her hunger.
But, the more she waited, the less appealing the idea to eat a cinnamon roll was. Maybe she wasn't hungry.
Sighing, she let her back fall against the back of the chair. Maybe she was thinking too much.
She rubbed her lower lip. Maybe she just had to focus on what she was feeling.
But Hinata ended up deeply lost in her thoughts again, hoping to find what the baby wanted.
It was the first time it happened.
It's true, it would happen she woke up during the night, but normally, it was for her own needs. Once done with them, she just had to lay in bed, next to Naruto, and she would quickly fall back asleep.
However, tonight, her baby had decided to be capricious and it was alright, but the soon-to-be mother didn't know what to do anymore.
Suddenly, Hinata's eyes saw the fruit basket before her. Intrigued, she stood up and took a banana. She sat back on the chair while peeling it. She then took a bite of the fruit and chew it, almost waiting for a sign from her body.
The fruit was almost not as sweet and cold on her tongue as she would've wanted it to be. She smiled. She finished the fruit anyway, but she finally found out what the baby wanted.
"Hinata?" a low and sleepy voice called her.
It made her whole body tremble as the sexy zombi who was her husband stepped inside the room while rubbing his eyes. Despite his hair being short, Naruto had tangled them for he hadn't stopped moving his head against his pillow and now Hinata had only one wish; lose her hands in between his golden locks so badly.
However, she didn't move and didn't dare to look for too long at the way his pyjamas bottom hung low on his hips or how his t-shirt sleeves exposed his masculine arms, because tonight, it's all about the baby, she remiened herself.
"I couldn't hear you come back. I was worried. Is everything alright?" He asked as he bent to place his elbows on the back of the chair facing her.
Of course with his half-opened eyes, he missed the chair and bumped his chin against the wooden piece of furniture. The shock finally got rid of the sleepiness clouding his mind and Naruto blinked several times as her wife had a hand covering her mouth to contain her gasp of surprise and worry.
"I'm ok", he quickly assured her, but Hinata was already marching towards him to examine his chin. Her fingers' soft caress on the soon-to-be bruise was then followed by the feeling of her lips to smooth the pain. "Thanks, Hinata."
She had a quick look of Naruto blushing as he pulled the chair behind him. He sat in front of her and eyed her belly. He instinctively placed his hand on it, his thumb stroking it, and soon he received the feeling of a kick from their son under his palm.
"Does he keep you awake? Aren't his kicks stronger than before?" He looked up to see Hinata shaking her head.
She then smiled, her fingers running through his untamed blonde hair, "Naruto-kun, I want to eat some banana ice cream."
Naruto blinked again, but this time it was because of her unexpected answer. Had he heard her correctly? "What?"
She sat down too, "I really want to eat some banana ice cream."
So he did hear her right the first time. He crossed his arms over his chest and frowned when his head slightly tilted to the side. "Does this thing even exist?"
"I don't know, but I want to eat it. We want to eat it."
He really wanted to say 'yes', but a quick look at the clock made him grimace. The probability that everything was closed was high, "But, it's nearly 3 a.m. Are you sure you can't wait?"
He saw her shaking her head again as she bit on her lower lip. "Please, Naruto-kun." Hinata hardly begged for anything.
"Okay, okay." He stood up hurriedly. "I'll see what I can do. I'll be back."
With a sorry look, Hinata nodded. She heard him go to their bedroom before going back downstairs with new clothes on to put his shoes on and then close the front door.
And now, the longer she watched the minutes going by on the clock, the guiltier Hinata felt.
She knew Naruto had an important meeting early in the morning with Kakashi, then he had to go with him for the inauguration of the new buildings for the Academy. But she also knew that if she couldn't have her usual average hours of sleep, she would be annoying to people tomorrow.
The task to manage her then fell on Naruto.
Speaking of him, she heard him coming back.
She suddenly saw five shadow clones step inside their kitchen with tons of shopping bags in their arms. Of course, every single one of them were speaking at the same time and she couldn't understand what they were saying.
"Naruto-kun?"
"What?" they all said at the same time.
By the glances they sent to each other, she knew she shouldn't have called them all.
Annoyed by themselves, they all started to argue at the same time again to decide which one of them she had called. Meanwhile, two other Narutos opened the door before their blue eyes widened.
The next second, all the clones were gone and the original was standing next to the door.
"My plan worked better than expected", he confessed. "If I knew I'd find so many ice cream boxes, I would've created less clones." He scratched the back of his head, embarrassed. "Anyway! I don't know which brand's better so I took one of each."
He started to pull out the boxes to place them before Hinata while explaining to her where he had found them. Hinata didn't know where to look. There were so many boxes around her. But thanks to that, she knew it was what the baby wanted because the fresh banana smell made her mouth water.
"Thank you so much, Naruto-kun." She said when he offered her a cup with two scoops of ice cream.
She took a little portion with her spoon and brought it to her mouth as Naruto watched her, waiting for her verdict.
"On the box it says it's the one with the least amount of artificial colourings but-"
"It's so good!" Hinata exclaimed with sparkling eyes.
"Really?"
She nodded. Naruto then took a spoon and had a taste of this strange dessert. The cold and the taste were horrible, making him shiver.
How could Hinata like something like that?
His disgusted face made his wife laugh.
He smiled, happy to see her worried face finally relax. Then he started to put the boxes away in the freezer. Of course, he took so many of them that he eventually ran out of place to fit in the rest which began to melt. Fortunately, they had bought a few months ago another freezer they had placed in the utility room.
When Naruto came back in the kitchen, Hinata had left her empty cup and was now eating her ice cream directly from the box.
"You should go back to sleep." Hinata said with her mouth full.
Naruto shook his head and sat in front of her. He grabbed his spoon and took another bite to see if by any chance, the taste had changed.
And it wasn't actually that bad.
Or maybe it was just the action of sharing this box of ice cream with his wife, as if they had become teenagers again, that made him enjoy this atrocity.
"I'm staying with you and we'll get through our first short night sleep together", he exclaimed. "Now, let's eat to that." He laughed.
God, she loved him so much.
Hinata smiled at him and in a synchro move, they made their spoons collapse against each other.
