Rabid.
I've seen catfights between girls on TV. But I never imagined a girl could cause so much damage. Alone. I recognised Kehlanie. She had some kind of partnership with mom's agency and her parents were associates and she was one of my flings.
Vivian had lost her mind. She had lost control and Kehlanie deserved it I'd say. She gained a tuned face and bleeding body. Plastic surgery was her only option if she didn't want scars. The door to her bathroom opened and she had changed from the uniform into a green sweater and a white mini skirt and long white socks with her shoes. I looked away seeing exposed bit of skin.
"Hi."
"You can go now. I'm alright. Thank you."
"Vivian. I apologize."
"Go to your fiancee and apologize for causing a misunderstanding."
"She's not. I am not engaged. It was just something Grandma made up and Evelyn took it seriously. It's not a formal agreement."
"Everyone thinks she is. I don't want more trouble. I still have to remove that thing in my locker.'
"It's already done. So you don't have to go anywhere. Vivian, I want you. I don't want to use force. So stay with me. Please."
"Use force?" She laughed. "You can't do shit. So carry yourself dey go. Biko." That word again. Biko. What did it mean? I pulled her towards me. She looked smaller or was it my eyes.
"I can do more than shit to you. We're in this room alone. I can do shit we'll enjoy and regret. I've done loads of shit and getting you under me won't be difficult." She looked dazed at first before fear crossed her eyes. "I won't hurt you. Stay with me. Kehlanie's parents will be here soon and they might try to hurt you. So Vivian," I placed my head on top of hers. "Stay with me for your sake. For our sakes."
For my sake.
"Kenneth, I'm tired."
"Lock up. We're going out. Don't waste my time."
***
"You know this school is super super large. I don't want to walk too much." She grumbled.
"It's to warm your legs."
"We've been walking for more than twenty minutes. I can't see the gates anywhere. I'm tired. Let's just head back."
"We're going to my lounge. And why are you with a book."
"Assignments." This girl. "Kenneth." Her whine was cute. "I'm tired." I carried her princess style. "Put me down."
"No." I walked faster. "We're almost there." Everyone was having classes now so we'd be alone. I put her down when we got to the Imperial floors. "Welcome to my place."
"Well."
"Come. I'll show you why this place is better than other places. This isn't the bedroom area. Just places." I entered a first room since the doors here were almost never locked.
She was in awe as she saw the murals on the wall and art supplies scattered everywhere. "This belongs to one of us. An empress. I don't know her name though. Don't touch anything." I didn't think she was about to. She was just frozen. Just staring.
"They're beautiful. This is raw talent. It's..."
"Calm down. Let's go somewhere else." I closed the door and entered another. The music room. It was empty, thank goodness. That creepy girl was probably in class. "Do you play any instruments?"
"No. My siblings do. I don't." Why? She shrugged. "I guess I'm not good at instruments. I liked the violin but wasn't God at it. Buchi had to learn it for me." She was smiling. She loved her brother a lot. "Do you play?"
I smiled and went to the piano. I hated the piano but it helped me calm down once in a while. It was useful during my... darker days. I sat on a stool and tapped one of the keys. "Sing."
"A hymn?" I rolled my eyes.
"Seriously?"
"Then what? O Come All Ye Faithful?" I gave her the side eye. "What? Christmas is close already." I shrugged, humming the tune to get important notes. I played the chorus.
"Now sing." She could sing. Her voice was melodious and it was a good thing I did not stop. I even joined in.
Ye Lord we greet thee
Born this happy morning
Jesu to thee be all glory given
Word of the father
Now in flesh appearing
O come let us adore him
"Oh come let us adore him." She added, smiling. Before we sang the last part together. When I was done she bounced towards me, gleefully " You can sing. You sing so well. Your voice is mouth watering mehn. Honestly. I'm in love." With my voice. Haha.
"Thanks. Come lemme show you other places." I showed her the training room, Dev's laboratory, Jeiel's studio, the gym, the boardroom which I made mine, the lounge, the indoor pool, and many others.
"Wow. It's not fair." She complained. I laughed.
"So where do you want to go now?"
"I dunno. You're the one leading."
"Would you like to see my room?" She hesitated before nodding. We went to the next floor. "If you're not comfortable, we can turn back."
"I'm fine." I swiped my card at the door. "This is your room?" I nodded. "It's like twice my room. It's too big for one person. How is this possible? How do you stay here alone? How? Jesus Christ. Wow, this is." She exhaled and ran inside to explore. "Jacuzzi! Is this a suite?" She kept running around. "You have kitchen! Wow! Do you cook?" Me? Cook? Maybe grilling and roasting. But I couldn't cook.
Her screams were loud as fuck. "Walk in closet. May I?" No. I stopped her before she opened it. "I'm sorry, but no."
"Okay."
"Let's watch a movie. I'll order snacks."
"You don't have snacks?"
"Not fond of junk. Choose the movie." I made a call to the kitchen and the snack stand.
"Your Netflix password?"
"It can be anything. With all the Is as One and the E as Euro sign and the As as uppercase." 1tcAnb£Anyth1ng.
"That's creative." I smiled.
"What movie are we watching?"
"It's a Nigerian movie. Far From Home."
"Sounds like Spiderman." I told her. "Sit." She sat on the bed. The food and junk I ordered arrived a few minutes into the movie. Ishaya. Funny name. I tried pronouncing it an Vivian kept laughing.
"Your accent is sweet." Other names were okay but Ishaya. Well. Ishaya.
"That artist has Jeiel's surname." I pointed out. Essien. But the intonation was different. Vivian nodded. Honestly, I couldn't relate to Ishaya's suffering. But to the Wilmer kid's, I could in a way. Carmen was pitiable. I also learnt some slangs and Vivian explained stuff to me.
"I presume, Oga means Boss. Right? It's a way to address your superior." She nodded. "Oga Rambo." I chuckled. "He's loud. And he speaks too much Yoruba."
"It's his choice. Who do you prefer?" She asked.
"Government." She smiled. The way Ishaya kept getting into trouble was annoying. I felt like beating him up. We ate our food together and relaxed. She didn't realise how close we were, did she? I pulled her with me and she sat between my spread legs.
"I hate Adufe." I looked at her in surprise. "She's greedy. She likes money and wealth. Now see how she entered this toxic relationship. It's disgusting. I also dislike this Rahila girl. She's too.. I don't even know the word."
"Adufe is not that bad."
"Cause she's hot Abi?" She looked at me with a glint in her eye.
"I won't deny it but, she's the one who grabs opportunities. She sees one, she jumps in even if it's wrong. She saw the chance to become Rambo's woman, she didn't hesitate though her ex was there. She didn't let him become a hindrance to her wants. That's good." She looked shocked.
She commented on everything. Including the cheating couple. I did not know what to say, except Ishaya's art was really good. And his parents were too cruel. And that Nen girl was as hot as fuck. She had Vivian's figure.
"Reggie baby..." She cooed. What the fuck? Him? "He's so fine..." I looked at the Reggie guy in disgust. I covered my eyes as she screaed during his proposal. Girls. She was even hugging me. "See love."
That Frank boy was traumatized by a kidnapping? Sure it was a serious thing but... Mehn. I could remember the first time someone tried to use me to threaten my parents. I committed my first murder. Dad covered it up and sent me to training camp every summer.
"Aww, he's a black belt. See how strong he is." His moves were rusty. A real black belt in Martial arts was sitting with her and she was watching an actor. I could knock out those guys with one move. Even killing them. How was she impressed? Damn.
We concluded the movie. I loved the ending especially when Adufe put Rambo in a cage. She was power. My favourite character. Poor Carmen had to go for rehab. Honestly, I felt bad for her. Her parents abandoned her. Her friends weren't there. I counted myself lucky. After that event I couldn't really remember, that broke me mentally and physically, I had to take drugs. Lots of them.
Mom and Dad were there. Dad paid huge amounts to get those drugs flushed out of my system. Dev and Andrew. They were there. They both had conflicts with their families because they wanted to stop schooling till I was better. That was sacrifice. I had to talk to them. Dev especially. "Hey. Are you alright?"
"I'm fine. I'm fine." I held her hand. "I'm sleepy."
"Oh. Sorry. I'll leave now. I want to return." I hugged her.
"Stay. Please."
"This is your bed. I can't."
"I won't do anything. And it's large enough. I'll give you space. Stay with me. Vivian." My eyes were closing. God, I was tired. "Vivian."
"I'm here."
"Don't leave, Vivian. Please don't leave."
"Not leaving."
"You'll be here when I wake up?"
"Yeah. Go to sleep." Thank you.
***
"Yes Dad?";I answered the call.
"Your grandmother invited us for a Christmas dinner." Which grandmother? "Your mom's mom."
"The bitch?" Dad hummed in affirmation. "What did mom say?"
"She wants to go. She said it was time to make amends."
"Didn't you tell her there's nothing to mend? She's a bitch and will die a bitch. Stupid old woman." The thought of that woman disgusted me.
"She invited the entire family. Do you think she wants to share the mine?" I laughed.
"Dad, I have one half of that mine. Ebenezer has the other half. She's kidding herself if she still thinks it's hers."
"I know. Maybe she's dying."
"Great. We should go then. And send her back to hell."
"I agree. So you're coming?"
"Yup. How's mom?"
"She's okay. I got her to stop working." I sighed in relief. "How's Vivian?" I raised my brows. Seriously?
"She's good."
"Take care of her. Her mom's words."
"You visited her mom?"
"Yeah. Had something to give her."
"Dad, how come I never met her till this year?"
"Son, it's a long story. One day, I'll explain. Till then...Happy new month." He hung up. Tch. Dad. I looked at the girl on my bed, sleeping. I touched her face.
She was beautiful. Cute. Innocent but with a deadly side. She was good. I liked her. I'd admit. I liked Vivian a lot. So much that I wasn't ever going to make her a fling. Till whatever these feelings were came to an end, I'd keep indulging them. I kissed her cheeks. I'm sorry, Ebenezer. I smiled. His girlfriend was mine and I was not letting her go. I placed another kiss on her lips.
Mine.
Eben zaddy are you seeing this? Are you? See what Kenneth is doing with your woman oo. Hei. Kenneth has claimed your woman oo. 😂😂😂
So, the Far From Home scene was sudden. I did not plan to add such in this book Sha. I made him discuss Adufe because what he thought about her highlights so much about his character.
When I watched the series, I thought of Adufe as a bad person. I can't count how many cuss words I used because she was so annoying. I despised her.
But I was sweeping my parents room one day when BAM! the thought came to me. I saw Adufe in a different light. She saw
Oo opportunities and she grabbed them. She, was smart, she was ambitious and she didn't let anyone hold her back. She didn't even let Oga Rambo's toxic nature discourage her. She endured.
It wasn't up to five minutes Rambo was knocked out and she saw that she could take over that business. That girl was something else. Yes she did a lot of horrible things but still...
Now Kenneth will be like Adufe, if not worse. Be prepared to hate him more than any other male lead you've met cause he's hateful.
I hope you liked this chapter. Thanks for reading.
