It's a new lead
(1st Person PoV: Tubbo's)
"Oh sh*t oh sh*t oh sh*t! Finally we have a lead!" Charlie was running around excitedly, like a headless chicken.
"Charlie! Sit the f*ck down and listen to Ted!" Schlatt snapped.
Charlie jumped onto a chair and sat there, comfortably.
"Ok so according to the calling card, we can pick out important information. Kaitō Raccoon is planning on stealing again, there is a special event soon and how he loves history. It's rather obvious since this is a short calling card," Ted explained, getting right to the point.
"The Museum of Riff? Isn't that the same family who has that missing guy? The archeologist?" I asked.
"Yes, we don't know if there is any relevance to his disappearance in this case," Ted sighed.
Yeah he disappeared recently and there are still no leads to his disappearance, I thought.
Then again, Jared is behind the case so maybe that's why.
People could be dying for all he cares and he still wouldn't get any leads.
I sighed rather loudly before picking up my phone.
"He is either really stupid or really smart," I noted.
"How come?" Charlie asked.
"Of course we would pick up that detail about history. Name one museum that is more popular than the Museum of Riff," I explained.
"True...but if that's the case, then why say it in a mysterious way? He could have outright said that he's going to steal from the Museum of Riff," Schlatt pointed out.
"Unless, that's what he expects us to do. He wants us to think that this is a trick by not directly saying that he will steal from the museum, making us overthink things," Charlie suggested.
"Maybe...well first things first, we have to warn the Museum of Riff people," Ted said and the rest of us nodded.
We drove over there and had a small meeting with the people who were running the museum.
"Thank you for warning us. We'll have extra security for the event," a gruff man with a brown, greying beard said.
"It's what we do," Ted nodded.
I looked around the room. It was dusty. Like really dusty.
"Has anyone used this room?" I asked to myself and quietly.
"Not since Pix disappeared," a voice behind me replied and I jumped in surprise.
It was a guy with blond hair and was wearing a janitor outfit, complete with a panda hat.
"Ah, sorry about that, my good friend. Didn't mean to scare you," he apologized.
"It's fine," I assured him. I looked at his name tag that was stitched on his shirt.
Oli
"You were wondering if anyone used this room, right?" Oli then asked.
"Hmm? Yes, I was. Pix Riffs was the one who disappeared correct?" I asked and he nodded.
"This is usually his work space where he studies and researches ancient artifacts. However, he has been going more and more to his other job at TakenCorp," Oli explained.
"His other job?" I asked.
"He works in the Archeology Department. That's apparently a thing," Oli replied.
"I see. Well thanks for that," I told him.
"Whoever is in charge of the missing people's case should give some reassurance to the families especially Pix's. Even if it's just a crumb, I think that will be enough," Oli said suddenly.
I swallowed some spit and didn't meet his eyes. If only this case was given to another, more competent police officer.
Damn it, Jared! I thought.
"I...alright," was all I said.
"Tubbo, it's time to go back," Schlatt called out.
"Ok, I'm coming!" I called back.
We went back to the police station to prepare for the event.
We need to make sure that the mayor is safe during the event and that nothing of value gets stolen again.
It mustn't happen. It can't happen!
"Hey Pearl, are you going to be in charge of protecting the mayor again?" I asked as she was walking by my desk with a huge pile of papers in her arms.
"Always going to be. Some extra officers will also be there," Pearl explained.
"That's good. This time, that phantom thief will not escape our grasp!" I said, determined.
"I believe that. Just don't strain yourself too much. We don't really know anything about Kaitō Raccoon and that's what makes him a lot more dangerous than normal," Pearl pointed out.
"I understand but don't worry. Nothing bad will happen," I assured her.
Pearl then looked at the floor and sighed.
"I hope you're right."
(Time skip to the event)
"Ok remember the plan. We'll be stationed in potential areas where he could strike. I'll be where the mayor is going to be doing the event, Charlie you man the cameras, Schlatt remember to patrol the first floor and Tubbo, the second. Others will arrive soon so don't worry about not covering enough ground," Ted explained.
"Right!" We saluted and went our separate ways.
The second floor had ancient artifacts, mainly from royalty.
Think of crowns, necklaces and I even saw a golden stag artifact.
"Rivendell Aeor statue," I read off of the wall that was displayed the statue.
Huh, interesting, I thought and continued to patrol the second floor.
As I walked past a golden crown with many colored gems on it, I felt my walkie talkie buzz and I held it up to my face.
"Tubbo, can you hear me, over?" I heard Charlie say.
"Loud and clear, Slimecicle," I told him.
"I noticed a suspicious shadow that was heading towards the second floor. Be on your guard," Charlie said and a chill went up my spine.
"Don't worry, I will," I assured him.
But then I remember something.
"Isn't the event supposed to be on the first floor where Schlatt and Ted are?" I asked.
"Yeah, I heard from Ted that Mayor Scar was showing off the reopening of the old museum that was once a part of the Riff Museum before it got burnt down for mysterious reasons. There were still valuable artifacts in there and are placed back there once the reopening. Why would he ignore that?" Charlie asked.
"Does it look like I know what he's planning?" I asked, unamused.
"Well no but it's suspicious isn't it?" Charlie asked and I could picture him shrugging.
True. That is suspicious, I thought.
And then, I heard it.
A low yet high pinch ringing noise.
"Tu...o...c...yo....hea...e....?" I heard Charlie asked but the Walkie Talkie seemed to be having some trouble. Like something was interfering with it.
"Tub...t...o...now...ge...," I couldn't understand what he was saying.
Something about now?
Tp tp
I heard footsteps coming from somewhere and the low ringing noise was getting closer.
Then I saw it. A tall, lanky figure and the figure seemed to be holding a small yellow-orange light.
Something else was being held and I heard the sound.
I immediately grabbed my gun and held it up.
"Who are you?" I demanded.
The figure didn't answer, they just stood there...menacing.
"I asked you a question and I expect you to answer it," I said, boldly and taking a step forward.
Clank!
Something small fell to my feet.
"What the-!" I cried out but a green mist shot out of the object and my vision went blurry.
Then everything went black.
...
...
"Bbo...Tubbo!" Someone shouted.
My eyes fluttered open and in my vision was Schlatt.
He was shaking me awake.
"What...happened?" I asked.
He helped me up as he began to explain.
"You were knocked out by sleeping gas. Thankfully, Charlie was able to notify Ted and I and we can racing over only to see Kaito Raccoon escaping with something. According to the head of the museum, he stole the crown of Empires. They're f*cking flapping around like scared chickens due to this. That crown not only has a large past but also loads of power," Schlatt explained.
I bow my head in shame.
"I'm sorry. I let him get away. If only I was more prepared for that f*cking ringing noise," I sighed.
"I know. Charlie told me that you didn't seem to understand him because of the walkie talkie being interfered on. It wasn't your fault," Schlatt said.
It sure feels like it, I thought.
"Come, we have to go back to the police station. The others will take it from here," Schlatt guided me to the police car.
We drove all over there and as soon as I got out, I swore Jared's face, sneering at me.
"Well lookie who it is. Guess you really are incompetent at catching a simple thief," he stated.
"Shut the hell up Jared! Like you could do any better!" Schlatt snapped at him.
I ignored Jared and went straight to my desk.
I packed up some stuff for today and left to go change out of my police uniform and into my regular clothes.
I left to go home.
As I walked into my apartment room, I went straight to my bed and face planted it.
This wasn't a good look for me nor the rest of the police.
He got away again! I gripped onto the bedsheets, angrily.
Who was that though?! The figure was too tall to be Kaito Raccoon and I swore I could smell smoke coming from that figure. Like from a cigarette!
Did Kaito Raccoon have allies? Who would help a thief with their heists?
I let out an angry growl at this.
WHAT THE HELL ARE WE GOING TO DO!!! I thought, angrily.
A/N: ok serious stuff first.
I will no longer be adding Minx into this story until she (The real Minx, not fanfic Minx) gets professional help. Addiction isn't pretty and we're seeing her downfall, live. I was never really a fan of her, I didn't watch her content but even then, she really needs that professional help no matter how much she seems to deny it. So until then, she will no longer be written here.
Ok less serious stuff next.
Shorter chapter this time. I feel like you all deserve an update from here. I prefer longer chapters for this.
